Swimmer would probably lead to problems when he’s older. Like W sitting for toddlers and children. Good catch - it could potentially interfere with breath capacity

1 What a rollercoaster 10 days !!! So impressed with all you and the team have done for Apple and her pups. Great videos. 2 Of course, now you will need to get a cat named Moriarty (to act as their nemesis). 3 With "making sure pups are cared for if something happens to you" - we have in our wills that a great friend gets $10K per year (+ vet bills) to look after any animals we have - they are more than happy to agree. (But now they want us...'gone'.) Thanks for the hard work.

In regards to the ear question. I discovered my older dog had some ear issues because the younger one would not leave them alone. So once you eliminate the food in the hair issue, it might not be a bad idea to check with your vet to make sure there isn't a yeast infection in process.

As to the question about introducing a new puppy to an existing group of dogs, it all depends on a number of factors. How old is the puppy? Most adult dogs will be more accepting of a young puppy than an older puppy or an adult (note I said "most"--not all). Do the dogs you already have get along together? Have they met other dogs in other locations and how did they do meeting a strange dog there? Any signs of aggression or anxiety? Charlie is absolutely right--take the new puppy out in the yard (so there's plenty of room for puppy and dogs to get away from one another if needed) and bring your dogs out one at a time. Don't let a whole "gang" out together--that will overwhelm the puppy and it can create problems. One at a time is best. The question of whether you should bring them out on leash is a difficult on to answer. Some dogs suffer from "leash aggression"--if they meet a dog off leash, they're just fine; if they meet a dog while on leash, they can be quite reactive or aggressive. It depends on the dog. You can also place a barrier between the dogs. We've used an ex-pen and put the puppy in the ex-pen and allowed an adult to sniff the puppy through the ex-pen. If you have any question about one of your dogs, then take any safety precaution you think you may need. You may even want to desensitize your dog to a muzzle before you get the puppy and be sure the dog is wearing the muzzle when meeting the puppy. You can even arrange for your dog(s) to meet the puppy on neutral territory. This can be tricky with a young puppy because you need to choose a location where there aren't a lot of strange dogs whose history and medical status you don't know hang out. You don't want your puppy to "pick up" any disease or parasites that may be in the environment from other dogs. If you choose a location where other dogs hang out, make certain the area is cleaned appropriately (we arranged to use our vet's office once--lots of dogs, even sick ones there, but it's cleaned appropriately so it offers minimal risk to the puppy). Our vet is "the bomb" and any dog that "may" have anything that other dogs can get is brought in through a separate entrance and isn't allowed in the waiting area but is placed immediately into an exam room. If the dog does indeed have something other dogs can get, the exam room the dog was in is "closed" until it can be properly sanitized. Many vets have a similar protocol.

As to the question of car (motion) sickness, if you have a puppy, many puppies outgrow this. If you have an adult (or your puppy hasn't outgrown it), you can try Cerenia. This is an anti-nausea medication. It's extremely safe. You can get it from your vet (it is prescription medication). It is not very expensive and it works very, very well. If blocking the dog's view out the window doesn't work, Cerenia is certainly worth a try. We had a girl that had motion sickness and it worked like a charm for her.

My sons Charlie (7) and Jack (9) from Australia would like to know when is a good age to begin giving the dogs treats? We pick up our new cavalier puppy in 9 weeks, they watch your videos each night before bed. Thank you for your time and effort!
@chaskat35Күн бұрын
As soon as they are in your home, you can give them little tiny treats. Once their adult teeth come in after a couple of months, you can give slightly larger hard treats.

@chaskat35Күн бұрын

Oh happy day, opening eyes! The puppies’ original “X” sleeping position has evolved to a sort of “T” position. Must be more comfortable with their nice round bellies. Love seeing Bootsie visit and Apple’s toleration. Such a darling Cavalier family! Congratulations on all your work and careful interventions that have brought it about!
