For someone who has been in the dog training industry for over 20 years and has worked personally with Zak George, I have a different view about this...
We need to STOP the fight between us and come together as trainers!
Every person and their dog have a unique relationship between each other. My hope is that I can help you discover the path to life with your dog! On Fridays Doggie Dojo will have dog training content that will help you focus on your goals with your dog, unite in understanding one another, and nourish your relationship to greater life together. Each video will have fun and inspiring content to help you train your dog. I also hope to find out more about you and your dog as the Doggie Dojo community grows to help us all have an amazing life with our canine companions.

Both of your channels are amazing, I love all of your tips, tricks, and real life examples of dog behavior. The reality is, everyone raises their puppies differently and maybe some people choose not to go to dog parks and some people like them... some of us needed to see that video so we could see a good 'real life' example of how to handle a dog park. Can't keep everyone happy, but I appreciate everything you both post for us ❣👍👏🐕

I don't normally comment on KZbin, but as a wildlife biologist and animal behaviorist, I feel the need to about this issue. First and foremost, props for this video and for this comment. Thanks for your hard work Zak, and for using the actual science of learning theory. The masses don't read our peer reviewed literature, nor do they understand the experimental methods and statistics used to verify significance in our data. People like you are needed to correct old science that is outdated and has been disproven, and teach the masses the most current data available. I see too many animal trainers using arbitrary reasoning and methods to train desired behavior. Don't follow these trainers or their nonsense. I also see too much nitpicking of each other's videos. Was Zak perfect in his video? No. No trainer is perfect in every situation. He was also splitting time between his animal and his viewers - not an easy task. Was there any reason for everyone to blow up over his video? No. We don't have the luxury of seeing everything Zak sees off camera, nor can we read his mind as to what went into his decision that day. He put Inertia in a situation, she didn't handle it well, he stepped in and removed the animal from the situation. It was exactly the right and responsible thing to do, so people need to give it a rest. I talk frequently with well known behaviorists like Karen Pryor, Patricia McConnell, etc. I give lectures to CPDT-KA and CBCC-KA all the time. I teach behaviorists the science of learning, and the genetics and evolution behind classical and operant conditioning. I shake my head at so many of these bandwagon positive reinforcement trainers tearing each other apart on social media. They clearly don't at all understand the material they claim to be teaching others. I could go through any of their videos and nitpick all of their errors in the same way they are doing to Zak over his video. But why would I? It would make me look desperate, bitter, and jealous, just as it does these folks. Keep doing what you're doing Zak. Teach your viewers, explain your reasoning. Ignore the behavior you don't like in peers on social media, reward the behavior you do. Acknowledging them only reinforces their undesirable behavior.

I totally agree. Zak is generous with his time and experience, and always upbeat and positive. I think he had a moment of genuine reaction with Inertia. I don’t see any harm that came of it. Just the fact that he posted his reaction video shows he truly cares about his audience. It’s hard to open yourself to judgement by the whole world. Thanks to Zak and to you for sharing your positive message and love of dogs. Social media is a hard place to exist sometimes. #Change

I’m happy to see his mistakes and how he worked through it. People and dogs make mistakes. It’s part of life. I hope he doesn’t remove it. I wish there was change in how people are going after the guy. It’s one thing to discuss about how things could have be done differently, but the rage in some people is just frightening.

I've learn so much from different trainers on KZbin. I've preferred and I am practicing positive behavior reinforcement on my now 7 month pup. However, I still watch and try to study other valid and humane training methods because I believe that every dog is different and can learn and react differently (like humans!). People forget that judgement is only valid with evidence and laws. In the dog training world (like parenting) there is no one "right" way.

If you are interested in "validity" I suggest you look at the AVSAB and AVMA position papers regarding aversive stimulus in training programs. Anyone using noxious stimulus is not in-line with any research done in the last 20+ years. Don't rely on trainers to tell you the science. Rely on the scientists, then find a trainer that adheres to the science. "Reward-based techniques should be used for teaching common training skills as well as to address unwanted behaviors. The application of aversive methods - which, by definition, rely on application of force, pain, or emotional or physical discomfort - should not be used in canine training or for the treatment of behavioral disorders." avsab.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/AVSAB-Humane-Dog-Training-Position-Statement-2021.pdf

They did the same thing with Cesar Millan. Still many cannot do what he actually has done so far. Zak, took example of just standing back up and keep the walk. No one's perfect and each individual will have it based on how they treat others as well. And we'll be here to get them understand that it's ok to fall. What's not ok it's to stay too comfortable in the floor. At least Zack and Cesar had the courage to stand apart and show that with dogs, not being all the same, you still have to look at what works and what not. They stand apart as trainers that are not afraid of showing weaknesses and downfalls and to use them for the benefit of the success of the dog and the trainer.

Its called real life and if people would take a step back they could see these are the rhis real people deal with out in the real world! Its amazing to me to see how all the other trainers are actimg as if everything they do, say, and teach are perfect. It must be nice to live in such a gloriously perfect world like they do. I think you make great points and if you want to discuss a video than do it with your training friends privately and have a healthy critique input. There are plenty of videos on the web that I find extremely detrimental to the message we are trying to promote and change peoples and the general public, pet families idea of what their dog is saying. There are a lot of trainers that think they are doing it right, put out videos and are not open to hear the critique from others. By posting a video I always ask my behaviour and training group/peers what they see how would they do it different. I never feel that I am right. Bullying IS UNACCEPTABLE. I'm sure Zak has watched this back and questioned things in it which he might have done differently. The power of videos.. a great way to learn.

Ive really been enjoying Zacs videos. Just found out about him and have been using his techniques with one of my parents totally untrained rescue dogs and have been seeing improvement from only 3 sessions. I realize it will take months and beyond to get where I’d like Paullo and his brother to be, but I’m really amazed at how effective positive training is for us. I also enjoy it much more than I have when using other training methods. My mood is much better when I’m not having to be negative and fussing on the dogs. It is a positive experience for both of us. I think a lot of people want instant gratification and want to poopoo patience and empathy, but I feel sure, and the science backs it up, that patience and empathy, which is the bedrock of positive training works.

I'm one of Zak George fan and he helped me a lot training our puppy. I saw your video and I thought it was like the reaction video of the "lady dog trainer" who also posted her reaction. I won't name her because I don't want to share the negatively I had viewed on her video. She was exactly the person you just described that she was just shaming and bullying. I was pissed when she rolls her eyes, make faces and make sarcastic comments as if she was the greatest of all dog trainers, no wonder her channel did not grew! Thanks for being so positive in this world of chaos and hate. You're the kind of people i want to support. I just subscribed and will watch your videos. Thanks

Awesome video, thank you. The dog training world is full of bitter people, enshrouded in jealousy, who seem to delight in knocking everyone down. Zak George made a mistake - OMG he's human!!! Honestly it wasn't even what I would call a mistake, a situation developed, as it does in real life. Be positive to each other people, please. Smile at the next person you see, type words of encouragement on the next video you watch. CHANGE!!!

Quick training question - i have a 9-month-old Guatemalan street dog. His mother, who was born and lived on the street, was rescued late in her pregnancy and taken to the rescuers home until she delivered. Does it seem normal that Champ (my puppy) might be harder to train than a puppy whose parents were never street dogs? He is unusually independent and stubborn, not to mention the over-the-top energy. Curious if it's just bad training on my part, or behavior that is somehow genetic that i should learn to work with rather than change. Don't get me wrong, he is also a lovey dovey and we have a great bond. Just wondered what your thoughts were. Thanks!

You should see what Zach Jorge said about Ceasar Mellon. He's also mentioned other dog handlers in a negative way in his videos before. He's being a Hippocrit by even liking this video let alone commenting like he did. He said we can all learn from each other yet he is saying that trainers should leave other trainers alone, that's exactly the opposite of what he has done

Hay I'm a dog trainer in Israel. your massage is very important and it is something that has always bothered me in the dog training industry. I always have thoughts about putting out content for those who don't speak good English here in Israel, but when I think about the heat that I'm going to get I change my mind. some day I hope I'l have the courage. About Zak, there is a saying in English that says "sow the wind, reap the whirlwind". I happened to see a comment by Zak, warning people to stay away from leerberg and not do business with them.

Disagree with you. We have to stop being so picky because we want to have the best business and present the real world of dog training and conditioning. That's what Zak does and it's forreal not as some others that are critiquing but never show the truth about the days it takes or the mistakes then frustrate owners sending them to failure for it never shows that this takes days and almost a year, trials and errors until the final and best product is refined. Also it needs to continually get practiced and conditioned. That that many are doing by erasing is lying and is not being honest. It's like having a child and teil the whole wide world that you never grounded him when you know is a total lie.

I usually don’t comment or dislike a video. If it’s something important, then I will comment on it. I think regardless if you are a positive reinforcement trainer or if you’re a balanced trainer. It’s not OK to bully people or send death threats. You can have a mature conversation. I believe in positive reinforcement training because it’s been scientifically proven. Now, do I go and send death threats to people or bully them? No, I don’t. We need to be the bigger person. Two wrongs don’t make a right. I want to become a trainer and train animals. I also want to train animals for service work. I love everyone because I’m representing Christ and if I’m showing or spreading hate that is not Christlike at all. God bless you all. I’m praying for you and Jesus loves you.

This is so good! I don’t always agree with every trainer but at the end of the day it’s supposed to be about the dogs. We can’t get on the same page and we rip each other down and the only thing that suffers are the dogs. There is so much to learn from different disciplines in dog training and not every dog will learn the same way just as all people don’t learn the same way.

Change, we need to have the courage to lift up this industry knowing ourselves and defending each other. Especially, we need to remember that dogs unlike humans are unpredictable. Yes, I have seen Inertia and she's shy at first and then goes to play. I also want to remind people that it doesn't matter whether she is spayed or not, it's a she dog and can still have hormonal issues. Any dog can have it. Also Border Collies tend to bite and go to the face if they have a head tumors, that been said, any dog can do what she did at a certain point of the day. Plus, you gotta see that she totally changed gears once she was at his chest. Which means she still in training and has a very good sense of him as his alpha and now she'll see him more as his protection which is good. She's still need socialization, she's not demanded to be a service dog so please leave him alone as we all work with the same goal in mind, to help dogs and people to get along and be family and docile with each other.

Have to disagree I dont see her playing once. We learn from our video footage to ensure we dont make the same mistakes again. She asked to not go any further from when she got out the car and again crossing the toad. Hiding under the seat getting some distance are huge indicators he needs out. I would have been easier to hear or may be he would have got less negativity if after the editing of the video he noticed and put it out there for discussion. I do to all of my peers, it's great way to discuss and see what others see

@@thedoggiedojo 100%, he has done a lot, a hell of a lot for positive reinforcement and getting that side of stuff out there. I think, like all, we are only human and we make errors. Noticing those errors especially when had the opportunity to edit etc I think (well I guess more hoped) that someone with his level of skill and credibility would have put it out there as a not what to do and allow people to put across what they see rather than talking over the video stating what he sees she is doing when it's clear she is flooded. Not a technique I think he would use. I'm sure he may have just been having one of those days but what I struggle with (not just this, most things online describing behaviours as an example) leaves open the general public to copy this behaviour and put their dogs in to some serious situations that could be extremely detrimental to all parties involved along with scaring the pup. I've had some amazing behaviourist friends and fb friends question my videos...question away and now I always film a good 5 mins or so prior to the point of the vid and again after. We are here to learn from each other to strengthen our knowledge and better the lives of the dog kingdom and their humans. Peace and love❤🤗
