yeah that one girl looks like she's really good with the dog. I think when kids take care to be respectful of a scared dog, then often that can make it particularly easy for the dog to build trust because kids are small and unintimidating, and I'm quite sure that dogs actually recognise the difference between children and adults, and see children somewhat like puppies (at least until they're near adult size, but possibly beyond).

How could she not become a happier dog when seeing Otis?! Look at the guy! Foster dogs from tough situations always do better when there is another dog, like Otis, who they can take their cues from. It also reassures them; I'm sure she thinks "If Otis is okay with this, then it probably isn't scary".

i have just adopted a Beagle X rescued from forced breeding on a puppy mill farm, she has never lived in a home in 3 and half years, we have a rescue staffie x who has been on his own since i lost my other two angels last year, she came home yesterday but didnt want to walk through the front door, Alfie showed her the way, definitely helping her settle, she slept soundly first night, we are now day 2 of her forever life, happy days, xxxxx

I've noticed that feral and shelter dogs all do better once they see another dog in the home. I think it gives them reassurance that nothing bad is going to happen to them when they see someone of their own kind being happy.

Mothers are something else. For all those months, completely alone and having to defend unborn life, and then have her puppies all alone in the cold. Can't imagine how she felt. Thank you for saving her. And thank you to my mother for carrying me and protecting me too

So sorry that she wasnt left with at least one of her puppies. You could see how she blossomed when she had canine companionship which is how EVERY dog should be because they are pack animals who speak their own language which a human can never fully replicate.

They saved a dog. They give it so much love and care, and then, they get rid of it, along with her puppys. What I save and foster, I keep for myself, knowing full well that every animal that I have will be 200% safe and loved.

They saved 7 dogs. And they didnt "get rid" of them. Fosters have extremely important jobs. They rehabilitate dogs so that they can become adoptable. Very few people can or are willing to take in a dog with so many behavioral issues. Fosters love them and work with them so that they can get adopted. There is nothing wrong with foster failing. It is completely understandable. But each one takes up needed space for new dogs that need to be rehabilitated.

I have such love for people who do this. Most people see a stray and keep going. I can't handle to see ANY stray. I worry about all I see. It's gut-wrenching to see it and I do all I can do to find an owner or get help to find them a home. I'm so happy she found people willing to go the extra mile and show her patience and kindness. In my country we basically have no stray cats or dogs. (I ocne checked and there were about 8 dogs waiting for a home at a foster's in a country of 5.5 million people). I do not know how I could ever cope in a country with stray dogs and cats. It would break my heart.

@@samhartford8677 I can't handle it. It upsets me so much. I have been rescuing or helping animals all my life. We live in a subdivision with a pasture in the back. We have lived her over 20 yrs and have had All kinds of dogs and cats come through lost or dumped. We got our beagle Buddie after hunters dumped him. I do find alot of dogs that get out of their yards. Some are loose some dumped. Luckily if they have tag on I can call owners or the vet. Some do not. I do my best to feed them all and/ or call animal control too and many owners have reported them missing. We recently fed a female young cat for two months and she had fight wounds on her neck. We took her to our vet and had her spayed, all shots, wounds tended to and kept her here 10 days to heal. We found her a great home. It wasn't cheap. I can't sadly do that with every stray, but I sincerely would if I could. I try to do what I can. Pray alot too for them to be guided to good people/homes for help. I used to carry food in my car trunk! My granddaughter now helps me. Stranded turtles...have stopped traffic to get them safely across...so anyone who saves any animal...angels walking on earth to me! They give such unconditional love. They deserve to be loved.
