This is about a person who is in constant purgatory. Plagued by visions or happenings that repeat endlessly to torment the main character. Over and over they experience repeating battles between good and evil. The stories are the same. The stories are different. But always, a battle in their mind. And on saturdays she records it while putting on makeup.

As the director of this film, I want to thank you so much for taking out the time to watch this film. Although it clearly confused the shit out of most of you, which it was pretty much meant to do lol. All in all the movie was never really meant to take itself serious. Here's my breakdown including back story that isnt explained in the film: In the beginning there was nothing. Eve sat in the Upper Room alone, she created Def as a companion to keep her company. Def was a natural creator, he created the Earth. He showed Earth to Eve and she approved his creation. Later Def created 2 boys, one was Hondo the other was Frankie (Dogface). On Earth Frankie (Dogface) realized that he had the ability to create animals, the first animal he created was a dog. He showed his creation to Def and Def approved. Hondo then realized that he could create realms. He showed his creation to Def, Def DID NOT APPROVE as he could not understand this creation, Def forbid Hondo from making any more realms. Later on Earth Dogface asked Hondo to show him how to create realms. He said he would show him if Dogface showed him how to create animals. The only animal Hondo ever created was a panther. Later Eve told Def he should create companions in her likeness to accompany the boys. Def than created Wanda to accompany Hondo and Signey (who is actually the dog in the movie) to accompany Frankie. However, Def created Hondo to die and his soul to be reincarnated after Death, Frankie was created to basically live forever. As time passed Hondo would die and be reincarnated and Frankie would live forever getting older and uglier as time went along. Every time Hondo died he would forget his past life at his new birth but would slowly remember who he actually was as time passed until dying again. Since Dogface never died his body and appearance deteriorated and he would get picked on which caused him to create the underworld as a place where he could rule and be worshipped. As Earth continued to progress it grew corrupt and Eve warned Def to slow down his creations but he was out of control, Eve later banished Def to live amongst his creations. On Earth he lost most of his powers but then began to study the dark arts. He grew obsessed with the idea of destroying the people of the world and starting over, the only way that could be possible is to extinguish the souls of his two first sons Hondo and Dogface but the only one that could kill Hondo is Dogface and vice versa. We pick the story up present day with Hondo struggling to realize who he really is, the pills that Wanda pushes him to take basically help him not to have dreams. Eve tries to communicate with Hondo in his dream state but the witches do as well which creates a series of non sensical ideas running through his mind all the time. There's a lot more to unpack and I promise the story makes good sense, but mostly just in my head. I wish I had the energy to explain further but sadly I do not as I am busy in pre production developing another film that hopefully won't go over as many heads as this one did lol. Either way, go watch the film and let me know what you think!

Now how were we supposed to get all this lore from the movie...I actually kinda like the "nothing makes sense In and out of reality" movies but the dogface, traphouse, witches, angels v demons stuff just really watered the movie down to a cheap joke of a Psychological thriller
@A_Gu
@A_Gu Жыл бұрын
You know what?! As confusing as some points might have been, there were so many points where I thougt that the story has definitely potential and it really stimulated my imagination. When we saw Hondo wake up (before reading your comment with the lore) I imediately thought: What if this were a TV show in the likes of Buffy or Charmed, where Hondo lives up to his name and becomes this warrior who has to fight "the monster of the week", that is sent by the witches, in every episode. I don't know if you've heard of 'Imaro' by Charles Saunders, it's basically like Conan the Barbarian but our hero is black and the story is set in a fictional world that's supposed to represent Africa. So when the origin of Hondo's name was touched upon, I just had to think of Imaro. When I read your comment, I thougt about how Hondo dying and regaining parts of his memory, the dream sequences and epic show downs with Dogface would fit into my imaginary TV show. Anyways... in short: I'm a huge nerd and so I think this story could be turned into a decent sword and sorcery show with epic fighting scenes 😆

I'm disappointed that That guy is VOLDEMORT & SHAKESPEARE's nephew. He got a shit role & his acting may improve later. But not while he's playing Harden. I guess his 2 uncles got all the acting talent in the family for a few generations. Tsk Tsk. Seriously, Ralph & Joseph Fiennes are versatile, classically trained thespians who have gifted western cinema with Several Iconic roles, one has won Many prestigious acting awards including Oscar nominations, BAFTAs & a TONY & they're both well respected professionals in Hollywood, the UK & Europe. I'm a fan of his uncles, but I can't say the same of Hero Fiennes/Harden.

One of my favourite things about Kennies bad movie commentaries is her open acceptance of people following their dreams and making bad movies. And although it’s often a joke, saying “You see guys, they adapted this garbage screenplay, go write that crazy idea!” Is wildly encouraging to me as a baby writer. Knowing that even if our stories are written and made in the shittiest ways, there’s people out there who will laugh at the effort and have a good time. Elevates a lot of the pressure.

Hearing about the movie seemed like the writer was like... trying to make a movie about what I imagine being in a psychotic episode feels like. Which would make sense to me since struggling with mental health and the main character's willingness to take antipsychotics is a repeated theme. Like disjointed thoughts, delusions of grandeur, paranoia, auditory and visual hallucinations-- like I could 100% see this movie just being what somebody experienced during an episode of psychosis.

ngl my first thought was "this is the kinda story us mentally ill people sometimes tell ourselves to try and make sense of why we were chosen to suffer". the same way abandoned kids sometimes conjure up stories about how their real parents are nice and rich and are looking for them, and some day they'll be a family and all will be fine. when we say shit "gawd gave me adhd or i would have been too powerful". this gives me the same vibe. also, matrix daddy has a very attractive voice, got me sitting straight up and listen

not going to lie, this sounds like me trying to explain my nightmares the next day, so that's my theory- him waking up at the end is to signify that this was all just a bad dream, like especially with the people changing identities all the time. Whenever I have people in my dreams, it seems like they change identities at least 3 times and my dreams are always a few unrelated narratives that are stitched back together by a common thread (the "it's not cheap, it's affordable" callback). Idk if this makes sense but it seems like they captured what it's like to have a nightmare (at least for me)

I think its one of those movies that tell everything backwards? Like, usually what happens is that we open up with the explanation, in this case being, you're the child of life and death and for your whole life those two forces have been fighting in your mind and right now death is winning. You have a dog faced brother named Frankie who leans closer to death and somehow made his way into your mind along with three other witches who are his followers (?) and is throwing your mind into chaos in an attempt to weaken you so he can to steal your soul. Then after the explanation he goes off and fights Frankie and his followers to set the world straight. Basically the movie has a prequel vibe where its meant to set the stage for another movie, or it's one of those movies that are meant to leave you wondering, or I'm thinking to much into this.

It has Jason Momoa in it, Emma from Degrassi, the green screen is atrocious, and it’s on Tubi. I love your videos!!! 🥹

Idk if anyone relates but I am psychotic and episodes can be triggered easily by horror movies like this (living in multiple worlds, the world being fake, etc) so I love seeing these reviews when it's sort of described but as something that doesn't happen. In movies it usually is framed like somehow it can happen in real life so I love how Kennie describes it in a way that (on a good day) doesn't trigger a psychotic episode
@realafah

I only just started the review, but I find it funny how the relator is trying to skip around telling the guy about it being a murder home. Like hun, you legally have to tell him. And even if it isn't in this area or universe of that area, you can't just be vague and hope he doesn't research the house to make sure it's not cheap because of reoccurring crimes that not even people on a budget will risk living at.

To me, this movie felt like it was the closest thing to having a Black Atlanta version of a Nollywood movie. I actually kind of like how all over the place it was and was more impressed that they tried to tie in some weird mythology at the end. It's not often that mythology is present in hood movies...

This is 5 movies thrown together. It's a ghost story, it's a slasher, it's a psychological thriller, it's a drama, and it's a hood movie.... Cinema!!!! This movie, if I can call it that... I watch you watch horrible movies so I don't have to I suppose, but more than that, I watch you watch bad movies so I can gauge what type of insanity the general public will accept so I know where to draw the line in my own publishable prose... THANK YOU!

Three sisters is a pretty common theme in witch stories so tbh not surprised about that, but I'm getting like egyptian god vibes from you know dog face man and god of death and all that and the whole like - two sides of one dude protecting the gates of the underworld. Weird way to go through that kind of plot but I see what Kennie means about it Almost being a real movie at points.

A ghetto interpretation of Henry James 'The Beast in the Jungle' perhaps? I don't know. The director who is also credited as the writer must think himself a genius. Or maybe, Tubi offers new directors in the union a $100k to make films? That actually seems kind of likely.

This whole movie feels like an actual dream to wake up from so part of me thinks it would've been cool if the end was Hondo sitting with one of his buyers who's a psychology major and have this person read the hell out of him. "Maybe because you had a bad relationship with your mom, you see women in a superficial way; either strippers or crazy/evil hence theyre witches. You mourn not knowing your dad so hes a ghost and a stranger. You don't feel in control of your life, hence the battle of good and evil meanwhile Life or God is your mom cuz you still love her I dunno" then ending with "maybe you should go to therapy, i haven't got my degree yet ok im not licensed" lol
