So, the reason they modelled EMPCs in that manner is that EM pulses CAN cause erratic functionality in electronic systems. Most ppl generally think of EMPs as killing electronics altogether, but it really depends on the design, honestly. Modern cars are pretty much immune to EMPs, along with most aircraft and many systems around the house. Some erratic function might be observed, but complete deth of a device is pretty unusual these days. The size of EMP required to completely end most things can really only be generated by a HAND (High Alt Nuk Device), or a very large specialized piece of machinery.

I'm digging the aesthetics of both of your ships so much :D Also, just to clarify: your controls have a _chance_ of being scrambled when you're hit by an EMP, it's not a garanteed effect. That's why your dynamite didn't explode most of the times you were hit. But you probably figured it out already!

Hey Kosmo- Quantum rudders don’t just add drag- they rotate and act like rudders of a ship and can be used for turning. The devs said not to rotate them with hinges for a reason lol

You can add a second shield to the back and use the size configs as well as the “vertical offset” to move them forward and backward so they look like one big circle thing all around

You were messing up yourself a bit there with the quantum rudders. 1. They should always point away from the direction you're going because they always try to force your space ship to go the direction opposite of the rudder. 2. You can use the rudders for yaw/pitch/roll if you configure them. That way they can help you steer without hinges. Turning the quantum rudders can be useful if you want to change what side of your ship is "forward" like Boba Fetts "Slave 1" from Star Wars

the hover wing is a stronger quantum rudder that can be turned off. the quantum rudder is for small ships that can't fit a hover wing.
