Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

With the space map available, have you guys considered doing a "Rods from God" challenge? Each player has to build a satellite capable of launching long projectiles, using only pistons for launching.

Heres an idea: Plane defense in the sky. You could have a large bomber trying to destroy a target, and small nimble fighters trying to kill the bomber to protect the target and the rest trying to defend the bomber from being destroyed.

I offered the same idea a few weeks ago, but very specifically made it so it was fighter/bombers on the attack starting at altitude and faster, more maneuverable interceptors with more firepower, but with the caveat of starting on the ground and only being able to take off when targets were at some predetermined distance from the defense objective. The end result is that you still have an asymmetric battle, but with very different design goals.

I feel like the detaching concept could work really well for the thrusters as well that way with each hit you are getting slower and slower until you finally loose all speed and fall

You should've put the detachable blocks on controls so that if you lose one wing, you could remove the other and still have some control for pitch.

Sounds like something worth testing. On one hand it solves the asymmetry problem , but it might just eject the only wing left.

You credit your size and speed for not getting hit but I think the real culprit is that your plane is a little unstable, which leads to constantly varying flight paths.

Of course it's hard to hit Scrapman. Even he doesn't know where he's going, the EMP stands no chance!

Yeah, I think intentionally making your vehicle handle chaotically is a viable strategy in these battles.

​​@@theminerboy5694 it's because the aim assist shot is a prediction of where an object or vehicle is going so a vehicle that changes directions fast enough with enough speed is completely impossible to hit as the aim assist will aim at the direction it's going while accounting it's speed so where it shoots is actually way further then the actual vehicle but when that same vehicle Changes directions that initial prediction is gonna be way off I'm actually kind of curious on how it calculates the targets/objects direction because if it's the seats directions then what would happen if you placed the seat backwards? If it's the targets general mass then you could just put a bunch of weighs in the middle and make it rotate chaotically making the objects direction unreadable to the aim assist

Here's an idea: Julklapp Racing (Julklapp means Secret Santa, basically). You build racing vehicles, but you also get a copy of the other players vehicles and have to swap to the other at half distance. Meaning that you can either build a simple vehicle that's also simple to drive for the other player(s), or make it complicated to use/figure out which might also make it harder to drive yourself. Or you build in some sabotage mechanism that for example, deploys a vehicle flipper if a certain key isn't pressed every 10 seconds. Either you go in blind or maybe everyone gets like 30 seconds before the race to test the other player's vehicles.

13:10 This fight was absolutely wild. The amount of parts the two of you lost while still staying in the air was ridiculous. Also, I now kind of want to see you do an "ailerons only" challenge. The diving-kite style flying you were doing at the end when you only had roll and throttle for flight controls would look AMAZING if you had a whole group of people doing it, (although I guess they would also have to be detachable-wing designs, because you probably need the homing EMPs if you're ever going to hit anything.)

Yay, my suggestion from a few videos back! I must admit, the longer I thought about that concept, the more I thought every round would just be decided by whoever hits first, making the concept not that interesting anymore. But you guys came up with separate and innovative ways to mitigate that and have some really exciting and quite lengthy bouts. Great job!

I have an interesting idea for a biplane it would have separate controls for each set so if 1/4th disconnects you set the other to a position where it counteracts itself

25:03 This is probably the closest you could have POSSIBLY flown to each other. If you do a frame-by-frame comparison, Yzuei's wing passes straight through your nose, you're both just going so fast that there's no frame where your two planes intersect. He's just in front of you, and then behind you.

You could make this challenge even more insane. Do every major component on detatchable blocks. Thrust, weapon, cockpit. Everything has a chance to get yeetus deletus and that makes the game even more of a gamble. Are you going to lose an aileron? Maybe an engine. Or maybe your cockpit is going to decide it's going to try to go solo and ditch the rest of the vehicle. I mean, this can work with EVERYTHING. I'd love to see this with boats, spacecraft, cars. You name it. EMP vs vehicles that can fall apart, very open idea.

For future challenges like like this you should consider looking for which detachable blocks could be a major problem if they individually went out and set it up so you can just intentionally detach the other side. For example, in this challenge you'd die immediately if either of your front wings came off or either of your back wings, but not both. So it might have been for the best if you could ditch the opposite wing without losing your other functional pieces.

I wonder how it would have been if you had a release programed for all of the wings separately. That way you could detach the opposing wing if needed and mixing that with two sets of wings perhaps one in front of the other to help if you lose one set.

Maybe an EMP dogfight but for every block you add you have to add 1 detachable block. Does not matter where but half your plane has to be detachable. As an extra rule to make this harder all detachables have to connect to another normal block.

The ailerons do in fact generate lift, but it's a very small amount. The only way I could get a plane with only two ailerons for lift to take off was to drag glitch it.

Might be interesting to do this again, but lose thrust instead of wings. You keep control, but become a glider. I know you already did a glider only dogfight, so this lets you start with the advantage of free placement to begin and might allow final counter-attacks.

Video Idea: try making a vehicle that just runs around the orbit planet (SPACEBOUND) with something to hold it down to the surface, and when it gets really fast, you turn the downwards thrust off/detach and try to go as far as you can

Try this with boats that has a middle section that needs some amount of weight blocks that makes it guaranteed to sink without lots of support, and detatchable sections that keep it afloat.

Could have multiple sets of wings where opposing pairs have a sensor and an AND gate so you automatically lose the matched wing. Also a button to just toss the opposing wing manually if you lose one.

idea: what if you did a dogfight where u set the EMPs to have a delay of 1.5 seconds so u have to predict when u will get a lock. I think this would be cool with some other restrictions and quirks in play as well

I said this on Yzuei's channel, but for another detachable block idea is putting engines on detachable blocks. No other restrictions. So that way as you lose enigines you lose thrust and speed. Meaning if you basically make an ultra light quick glider and just stick engines to it you'll end up with a better chance of winning.

i believe you having two detachable parts on ur plane was fine especially since he had back up wings so it equalled each other, also i played back in slowmotion at 25.02 and you should see how close the two of you were from colliding it was centemeters

I think you should've disabled seat control, so all you had was aerodynamic control surfaces. That would've made it a lot more perilous to lose stuff.
