My Weimeraner actually loves my cat, he is so gentle with her and will squish into the corner of his bed in order to make room for her!

I lost a couch and a bed to mine. Needless to say she is crated while we are gone. She even barks and paces and freaks out if I go to the garage freezer to get dinner. However, she is afraid of water and doesn't want to swim, but loves playing with my cats.

I think its funny that they mention the swimming because when my Weimaraner would get wet it looked like a seal. Also they sort of barked like one when they try to get your attention but their bark is different when they think there is an intruder.

My Weim (Luna) makes several different vocalizations ... 1) Growl -- typically when she's pissed at another dog, but sometimes when she's playing "keep away", or when the cat bothers her. 2) Bark -- when she hears someone at the door or when she sees a squirrel outside the window, or when she has to go "potty" or when she just wants attention. 3) Yelp -- when she sees a squirrel outside but can't get to it 'cause she's on leash. 4) Chortle -- when she's excited, either 'cause I just came home or 'cause she knows we're gonna' go out for a walk. 5) Howl -- when she's sad 'cause I left her home alone.

Please no one say 'I like the Ginger Weimaraner!' Because Weimaraners are only grey, Vizslas are what you are thinking of and they are so different!

My friends have both a Vizsla and. Weim.

Wouldn’t say they are sooo different considering the Weimaraner came from the Vizsla through mixed breeding and so did the German short haired pointer, the fact they all are very similar looking apart from the colours kind of gives it away. The personality traits of each all match each other’s also because it’s the vizsla in each breed.

Pot belly pigs in a dogs skin. Massively food driven. Strong noses and will run strait by a rabbit, more focused on the scent than the animal. Very loving, great with kids and small animals. (loves my cats). Wants to be friends with everyone. Prone to tumors (at least in my experience). Great family dogs, but need lots of exercise and a very careful eye on food. They will eat anything.

I had a Weimaraner that lived to be 17 years old he was blind in one eye and we put him down to put him out of his misery

I have 2 of these dogs. One is 7 and the other is 10. They used to be really energetic and powerful dogs. Unfortuntly one is getting very old and even though she is healthy she cant run for very long or she gets sick. The other is living on steroids and tablets because he has a bad disease :( Addisons disease he has so he's blood levels are not in sync with one and other :(

I'm sick of supposed Weimaraner videos where the host can't even pronounce the name of the breed correctly. It's NOT 'why-muh-rain-er' ... it's pronounced "WHY-MUH-RON-ER"! Now... to see how hyper a Weimaraner can be, check out my videos to see Louie in action!

It is unbelievably pretentious to say Weimeraner! In the U.S. it should always be ,"weimeraner. The Brits can pronounce it any way they like. They can't help ring unbelievably pretentious.

Please look up the pronunciation. Also practice talking fast sometimes your mouth can't keep up. "As long as you exercise me enough" And give him some mental stimulation activity, such as agility or actual hunting... Just to be clear...… They don't hunt your cats, mine lives with 2 cats in the house. They don't all LOVE the water. They don't all destroy your home when you leave, this is easily fixed with any breed by crate training. They are a working class dog, mine is a bomb detection dog and is amazing at it. Even though I didn't get him until he was 2yrs old he hasn't displayed any of the negative traits you point out in this very short sided commentary.
