some dogs need to lower their head to move comfortably, others just havent realized their own carriage. i tend to train dogs while carrying a toy in their mouths. most dogs show their true carriage with the pride of their possession.

I really loved this video along with your previous dog show tips videos! I used to handle my dog in 4-h, for only a year unfortunately, and became pretty good in that short amount of time, but these are things I might have learned had I continued so it's great to be learning about them now! I don't have a dog to show at the moment, but it's still great information to know for when I need it as I enjoy handling :D

I use a 2 inch wide martingale for my Great Pyrenees, I didn't want a chain type leads to cutting a strip out of the ruff, or have it tangle in her coat in her Ckc classes,Novice trick dog as well as her Urban Cannine Good Citizens classes, she beendoing Rally currently. Should I just use a slip type smooth lead?

Your tips have been very helpful and very easy to understand. I particularly like Espisode 3, The Lead. How would you transfer this information to the situation where you have an intact male that might try to chase the dog in front while gaiting in a Group situation? I find this to be the biggest problem. In this case, when you stop or slow down, there are handlers behind you.

I'll leave that question for him to answer, but I wanted to mention that with me, I've decided that I really love the look of braided leads, so I've taken up learning how to braid them myself out of para-cord :D I don't have any dogs to show, but I'm thinking of making them for myself for when I can use them and possibly for others, but if you like making things or the idea of making something custom, it can feel pretty cool being able to customize your own and para cord is super strong too. :D

I have a boxer and I have been switching leads and have yet to find one that works. The only one I haven't used is a martingale and was wondering if you knew some good places to get one? Also my dog has most days where he is not please and attentive when I show him, I have tried food, toys, and voice nothing seems to work more than once. Do you have any tips for getting a more excited dog in the ring?

Love watching the videos you have made, just a quick question: How do you get a dog to move with you when it is stubborn nd you always run ahead? My dogs dont bait, it is a breed thing, they dont tend to take bait (apart from my minor puppy, he does) but my 2 1/2 year old has a case of mum, i dont want to move with you. it makes him look bad as i cant move him at correct pace. P.s i have Scottish Deerhound

How do I get my dog to stop pacing? I thought he'd grow out of it, we managed to get his CH at 10months old but now he's 18months old and pace pace pace... I treadmill train him and can get him to trot on that but if it slows down to much he'll switch leads back into a pace.

Hi Will i love watching your videos and have learnt so much, im trying to train my puppy for showing a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and he tends to pull, ive tried the instructions in the video but it doesn't seem to work, is there any chance you can do a video showing how to walk a untrained puppy 7-8 month old so i can see where i am going wrong, if not any tips would be appreciated, we show them with full leather collors and seperate leads so don't have the option of a check collor, regards Lyn

I have an azawakh that flat out refuses to carry his head up during the trot around the ring. His head and nose are on the ground and he slinks instead. When I try to force the issue I get an animal that winds up choking himself and bucks like a horse. I've tried favorite food, toys, nothing works. I'm about to give up on him. He is 7 months old. What can I do to convince him to carry it up?
