Doing Our Third Lap At The Nurburgring! ( MK3 Jetta Vr6 )

Kinda a last minute trip up to the Nurburgring to do another lap around the Nordscleife circuit! Had an absolute blast as always even though we went off track a little bit but thankfully everything is okay and we will make the proper adjustments to be better for next time!

Air bags and track aren't meant to be together. If you want to have more fun at the ring you have to do something on the suspension. Or Maybe build a dedicated track car

I've seen airlift kits used on Time Attack cars.. That air bag thing is a really old way of thinking. Modern air suspension system are far superior to old systems. A lot of the modern kits will have self levelling and things that can be beneficial to a older car.

With the stiffer sway arms and the extra bracing, the car will tend to oversteer, coilovers would help, but its not a track car, save that for the savoy

The back of the mk3 platform likes to snap oversteer under continous sideways load. They tried to fix it with the original mk3 vr6 by giving it the corrados suspension, making the track wider and ride lower, but it didnt work aswell as planned

And btw, don’t let anyone say that’s why you don’t track your car. On a track you can test your abilities without injuring someone who was unsuspecting an incident. On the public roads you can seriously injure others that didn’t sign a waiver. Tracks are great for getting to know your car and your abilities in a controlled environment.

Good video, bummer on going off track for a second, but good no one got hurt. Since you know vws pretty well, I have a mk3.5 cabrio having an abs issue, low speed stopping the abs kicks on when it shouldn’t. Any ideas on what to check first? Car runs and drives just fine besides that.

You know your problem is the bags, you just don't want to admit it, put some coils on it and you'll see the difference, or get a different track car

Gabriel Anaya too much pressure in the rear bags and too much pressure in the tires was the issue. So both will be adjusted and ready for next time. You act like a car on coilovers never have handling issues. The point is to make adjustments and get the setup dialed in whether it’s bags or coils no setup is perfect right away

Glad you are ok man,my personal advice is to finish the swap faster on the savoy and track that car...and protect Miley,you put a lot of work in that car to distroy in one second. Glad you’re okay man! Parts can be replaced but your health is more important. Stiffness on the rear can be adjusted, maybe you would also want to look at bettering your timing ahead of corners, your ride should be able to handle at speed you just need to time it a slight bit.

I was watching vids about doing an ARB on my polo, and I've noticed it gives a bit of oversteer, maybe a racing shop could set it for you along with alignment. Emmanuel George yeah I do want to get a better alignment for sure. I don’t think it’s too stiff in the rear because last lip it felt perfect but I had the car sitting lower in the rear and also lower tire pressure so I think I just had a bad combination going.

There reason your tail went out and you went in to the grass is that, on that turn, depending on speed and how you take it etc, one of your tires (or more) will lose contact with the road. As I was watching this video for my first time, I had predicted you'd end up on the grass based on how you approached the turn. You won't be the last person that happens to.

I don't know about anyone else but I about 💩my pants at the 7 minute mark. I can't remember if you have it deleted or not, but it looks like it might be the MAF sensor going bad. Mine had the same issue not to long ago.

Bastos 311 actually the rear was too stiff and I had too much tire pressure. I will continue to track the car on the bags. Will take some testing and adjustments to get it all dialed in but it’ll happen. I am talking with airlift though to see if I could get rear struts that’s had some adjustable features like dampening so we will see if anything comes of that lol

Christian Smith don’t listen to the constant “get rid of the bags fit coilovers” a guy in the states won time attack with a Impreza on bags u just need to find the sweet spot on bag pressure as in effect U have adjustable spring rate with the bags...maybe get adjustable shocks for at least the rear .....u could have had same result with badly adjusted coilovers 🙄.....get a smaller diameter steering wheel or find a way to fit a cupra R or Audi TT higher ratio rack U seem to have to put a lot of steering input in on turns🤔

You have mentioned that you e felt the rear wanting to step out before. Most cars use the same style front and rear double bellow setup. Mk3s use that different type of bag. It’s not performance based. I would push that setup on a track.

The VW Garage it did feel light before the sway bars were added. The rear end felt a lot different on that turn this time compared to how it felt last time but I had higher tire pressure and bag pressure so I’m pretty sure that’s what caused it. Time to make some adjustments for next time 👌🏼 and I’ll go slower around that corner to be safe lol
