I started stopping to heal my body..I’m now healing my mind. With working through past bad stuff, accepting it, and releasing it. Putting new healthier more pleasant thoughts, experiences in my system.. And over time, with no fear , my mind will be healed. Only my view on it, not THE truth (😜)! Happy Monday Dan and everyone ❤

Thank you so very much Dan for the seventeen hundred and 5 (or 6) days in a row... Kept me going through some dark days I can tell yer!!. Each to their own & this is not for everyone, but I practice meditation intentionally to face, allow & accept all that appears, arises & shows up. Initially every fiber of my being wanted to run, avoid, reject or deny...but with consistent practice, your videos, being in nature, expressing emotions, acknowledging thoughts & sensations then redirecting, living life... learning & healing is happening. Loving blessings wished to you Dan & all who navigate this journey. 💜

You’re missing the point. Even if in the unlikely scenario that this did happen, it’s just TMS, not a real injury, so the symptoms are not dangerous. You’re actual health is completely not at stake, so no reason for fear.

I have done this years c 30 I think. Strange , people accepted hypnotherapy. Which was a bit weird in uk at thst time. But trying to get the mind body concept across. Total scepticism 😮 So I'm using. PDP. I'm winning. Except the nocturnal migraines. Still nothing. I understand , I try not to feed the beast. But what I do. Sometimes is I get frustrated and angry. I've gone out. To live my life. And damn pain hits. And so bad I have to come home. They call it costochondritis. It's TMS. It's harmless. But it can stop me in my tracks. No meds to use. Just go home use heat until the beast goes to sleep. This is dumb. Sometimes, i can ride it. Others I just cant. So frustration. Anger. Not helpful. More tension. Oh I'm working on it. But thought worth a share. Nice one Dan 👍

Costochondritis pain is excruciating when it hits isnt it. Has stopped me many times too. The thing that calms me is knowing the diagnosis so I'm not terrified of it. The calmer I got, the less time it took healing a flare (ie., 6 weeks in pain to 1 week). Interesting point on hypnosis. I've seen hypnosis work on some, but others no. Awesome to hear it's helped you ❤

I’m with you, I have been memorizing verses about letting go of fear. In this space, we don’t know how our body alerts us to problems. We run to the medical establishment, and they try to find a physical reason. And that we become afraid of what they tell us. we become afraid of the pain or symptoms. Around Thanksgiving I was afraid of conflict and so my symptoms went up Father give us courage.

I realised that when I focus on the symptoms with the work (meditation for pain, listening to your videos all day long, etc) I tend to feel more anxious because, as you said, the fear increases. "Why am i not getting better?" However, this weekend I changed perspective. I just did what the pain was not allowing me (in my mind) and not only I did not get worse, I got 70% better! I believe what you say Dan is spot on. When you live your life and don't focus on the symptoms, the brain tends to give some slack 😂 Thanks again Dan, great video

I had multiple instances of chronic pain, the last one being a post inguinal hernia surgery pain. It had it for about 5 months (usually it will last 6 weeks). It was normally at 4/10 and could increase to 7/10 sometimes. I seek medical opinion and they found nothing. So one day I decided it was enough and started to exercise and go with my live again. The pain started, not without a fight, to subside and now I feel much better. I had back, hip, hand and elbow chronic pain as well, all of them gone. I am not a fan of being extreme and do only mind body work. I believe there are things that help, such as stretching, physio in some cases and other things as well. But the mind body approach, more focused on the understanding of why the pain persists, was very important for me

I wish I was braver. As I’m fine if it’s mild but when it ramps up I freak out. I get so frustrated at myself!! These symptoms also distract me from making progress and being active !! hey, I'll probably get in touch a little more thoroughly at some point but I just wanted to say thanks for what you do. a while ago I was feverishly (and somewhat cluelessly) researching the links between OCD and chronic pain, when I eventually got directed to your channel. with a mind like mine, I really wasn't sure what kinds of progress I was going to be able to make - but less than a month after you successfully demystified TMS for me and I was already doing WORLDS better. like, so much better my past self would never even believe you if you told them. I had no idea it could happen this quickly or this dramatically, it's crazy and I'm so happy about it and SO much calmer these days. thank you :-)

Dan's advice seems to be exactly in conflict with the concept of Somatic Tracking espoused by 'stalwarts' in the Mind-Body world like Howard Schubiner and Alan Gordon, who claim great success with their methods. Somatic Tracking entails focusing on the pain/symptom, albeit fleetingly, when the pain isn't raging. As a chronic pelvic pain sufferer for over a year, I can tell you these confusing, contradictory messages do little to alleviate the pain. Instead they only add to the frustration and bitterness. Same applies to the practice of Journaling advocated by Nicole Sachs & Dr. David Schechter: to do or not to do? Time these experts got together and laid down a broad protocol that the patient can then fine tune to suit his/her individual profile.
@paulaspagnuolo8285

My advice is to find one practitioner who resonates the most with you and follow their process. I found in my journey some things worked and others didn’t but following multiple practices and making recovery a full/time job was exactly opposite of what I needed. For me, once I understood the underlying concepts, less was more.

I think what I am trying to do during my healing journey at this point is to do what feels right for me in the moment. There is a lot of information out there and while the main concepts in the mind-body world are saying the same thing, it can get confusing. If something feels like work to me or I dread doing it, I don’t. So there are days I don’t do anything and days I do a somatic tracking mediation or something else.
@dr.amitabhamukherjee3601
@dr.amitabhamukherjee3601 10 ай бұрын
@@lindsaydougherty3793 I see. I guess what I am also implying is for this to be an exact science it has to be more coherent or at least more targeted, as any good medical practice is. Currently the messaging is a tad too confusing for any sufferer. And living in India, I can't directly access an experienced mind-body expert one-on-one, which is a big stumbling block. Thanks anyway and warm regards.
@J-xy6eb
@J-xy6eb 10 ай бұрын
Somatic tracking is just another tool that helps alleviate fear. It’s all in the same ball park. You focus on your symptoms in a mindful way that helps to reduce the fear, you’re not focusing on them in a negative way but in a way where you don’t allow fear to take over. All of these techniques are training the brain to be less afraid in the same way that Dan is using indifference to train the brain

For me the work is shifting your attention from your body, that’s basically fine( after a medical check!) to your mind, feelings and emotions that are the root cause of your pain/ symptoms.. stop fearing, stop paying attention to the symptoms .. start turning inwards,feel what is there for you that needs to be felt and expressed.Create a better mindset,release things thoughts patterns that aren’t helpful. Set healthy boundaries especially with toxic people and situations. Start loving and nurturing yourself . Patience, consistency, compassion.. The work is also putting your healing first.🍀🍀🍀

You don’t want to do anything that feels ‘forced’ or that is ‘pushing’. You want to accept the sensations and sit with them. Depending on your circumstance, try doing something small. Walk outside your front door. Or walk to the mailbox/street and back. Breathe in the fresh air and get sun. By doing something simple like that, you are telling your scared brain “See, it’s ok. I’m ok. You don’t have to be scared, I’m safe”. Be gentle with yourself - that is important. 🩷

I think we learn this pain, it’s a habit just like any other habit that isn’t working for us any more. Indifference takes the focus away so the brain can stop using the pain pathways that we activate every time we look at our symptoms with fear. We all can truly recover. It’s right there, within our reach. Thank you, Dan, for your care and love. It makes a huge difference in this world. 🩵
