Hey Scotty i bought a 2009 Pontiac g8 v6 a month ago and the engine light is on the code is p0008 something about cam and crank sensor. I changed both of those sensors but the light is still on. I went to a local mechanic to get the timing chain checked but he said the chain seems fine. What could it be ? The car only has 154000km on it . How can i fix it myself? I really want to keep the car.

When I bought my Nissan brand new years ago the air from the fan smelled awful. Took out the air filter and there was like a solid 60 dead spiders on it. Ever since the air does smell cleaner but I never vacuumed it to ensure there wasn't more spiders as the air filter they use is awful and in a inconvenient spot

Also don’t pay a mechanic to change your cabin air filter. It’s so easy to do on most vehicles as Scotty said. A shop near me wanted $60 to change the filter on a 2011 Honda Pilot. I paid $10 for the filter and did it myself in a few minutes.

Had a coworker that complained that his vents weren't blowing air very effectively. Pulled his filter out to replace it, it had about a half an ounce of loose marijuana packed into it! He blamed the previous owner but I don't know about that haha

I changed mine last year , the original nissan one. A 17 year old car with 70,000 miles. It was full of rocks, dust and feathers. The AC blew stronger, fresher and colder after that.

If the inside of your car smells bad, replace the filter. If your cars in not giving you as good miles per gallon as usual, replace the filter. if your home a/c and or Furnace is not performing as usual, replace the filter. I learned that simple thing the hard way!

It's a good idea to not keep the recirculation vent closed when parked. By opening it up when parking it'll prevent that dirty sock smell.

Usually every 2 years or less depending on your mileage. With VW,’s, BMW’s etc they will do it at 20,000 miles or after 2 years whichever is nearest. Pretty inexpensive and part of the service unless you want to save £20 and not do it

Don’t eat, don’t drink, don’t smoke or transport your pets and that’s a good start then change your cabin filter, do monthly interior cleanups and you will have a fresh car

I change my filter usually once a year, or twice depending on when pollen levels are super bad for awhile too. They’re cheap, like $12 it’s easy to replace them. I don’t understand how some people forget about them.

For the in cabin air filters, would a Home AC type filter in the right size work just as well or better for cheaper, or do we have to go with a cabin filter specifically for cars? (Assuming a compatible size exists) Everyone knows they need to change their home filter once in a while, so I was thinking maybe that means those companies need to innovate more to beat their competition. Versus the OEM may not be using the best media in their filters. Thoughts?

A friend had a 2005 Ford Escape and after 11 years it never had a cabin filter changed.....eventually we noticed a foul smell in the cabin. After a few days of it not going away and only getting worse. I opened it up and noticed a mouse had somehow gotten in there and died! It took 20 minutes to scoop the carcass and the copious amounts of nesting material it had planted inside that small space. Once cleaned up, I installed a new filter and my god...the difference in the air flow and the fresh smell. On my car, I change the cabin filter every year....it makes a HUGE difference....and my dealer wanted $50 do it! LOL Turns I can buy the filter for like $15 and do it my self in like 5 minutes, as it rests behind the glove box.

Most modern cars have cabin air filters. To find if your car has a cabin air filter, read your owner's manual. Toyota's has had them since the early 2000s. My 2003 Camry has one. You may have to remove the glove box, but it is easy

Hi Scotty I bought a preowned 2014 BMW 320xi A/T 2 years ago(maybe I wouldn't have bought it if I watched your video before but anyway it happened) fortunately it runs well so far, no oil leak, engine oil and oil filter changed about every 8 months(or 8k miles) but now the car is 5 years old. The car has driven 32k miles, got new tires and brake pads and rotors last January, but I'm wondering when the time of the transmission oil change is?

When changing a very dirty cabin air filter, once it's out I vacuum the compartment with a powerful shop vac to pull out any debris that fell off the filter. If you don't have a shop vac a regular vacuum cleaner with the crevice tool attachment works well too. Shine a light in and check for debris before installing the new filter.

Crazy neighbor told me a trick or use on my optima blue top battery to restore power. It does after about 10 years, just cross the battery charger for a moment, get a big spark then hook it up right and recharge as normal. It’s been holding a 12.5 charge for two years now. It’s a hard reset for the deep cycle and other types of batteries.

Bought a Chevy Cruze back in 2014. It was 2 years old at the time. It was sitting on the dealer's lot for 1 year. Check the cabin air filter, a small bucket full of nutshells and a rodent nest falls out. The heater fan, same story, it was spinning in broken nutshells like a coffee grinder. Guys...NOT. EVEN. THE Gd Dam dealers check the cabin air filter!

I didn't know there was a cabin filter until I was researching for catalytic converter replacement videos, somehow a video of a cabin filter popped out and that's how I found out.... I changed it this year, last one was horrible!

Replace the cabin air filter between 10k and 30k miles ... well, unless you buy a Ram Truck pre-2019. The have the spot of it but no filter (or filter door). I just got a kit that is the FCA original part for the door and a new filter. There is even a spot outlined on the heater/cooler box behind the glove box that is the same shape as the filter door. I'm installing mine when it warms up a bit more.

I replaced the cabin air filter with a clean OEM one that was hanging out in my garage for the past few months (clean as far as I could tell). Now, it stinks even more! AM General made the HMMWV dubbed Humvee for the military. It was in service before the Hummer brand existed. When civillian interest began AM General made Hummer. The H1 was a civillian street legal version of the Humvee. GM bought the Hummer brand (H1's were still made by AM General) and eventually the H2 and H3 models came out.(GM products).

Many car owners have experienced the same smell. There's an easy fix. 1. Open the hood. 2. Remove the radiator cap. 3. Have someone back the car away from the radiator cap you're holding. 4. Have another person position another car in the same spot where the original car was when you removed the cap. 5. Re-install the radiator cap. 6. Job complete. Get in, drive off, and enjoy the smell a repaired car. No tools required. So easy, anyone can do it.

Really enjoy your info..I have been a car guy all my life and I learn a lot from you..when you talked Optima batteries I only owned one and it got down to zero charge and I could not get it to take a charge I had to go to the dealer where he used a special charger...that was the old ones....glad I stayed away from them. Some lysol sprayed in to the cowl ( where there are holes or slots) ( in front of the windshield) ( whith hood open wide) (for easier access) on the passenger side couldn't hurt eather whith blower speed on high or close to high with recirculation off whith engine Running. Use about one eighth to a quarter of can of lysol (preferable one that you don't mine the odor too bad) have widows down or doors open ( so not to breath too much lysol In ) you might want to have passinger door closed and window up when out side when spraying the lysol so you don't breath so much of the lysol in. Make sure too run the blowing air through all the vents such as the defrost , front dash, bottom and the back pasinger ( if vehicle has rear passenger ducting ) whith out being restricted of air flowing throug them such as having the loover in the off postion. Spray the lysol through all the the deferent ducts separately at a time by adjusting to deferent vent modes in the climate controll IT is best in my opinion to spray all the ducts throug the cowl. when in recirculation mode the recirculation door is open which is Just above the front pasanger footwell ; sprays some lysol tords the door if one can't see the door just spray it near the floor when the recerc modes is Ingaged. ( with fan on high) this should kill off any foul smell.( Especially moldy odors ) There are duct cleaning products out there one I'v used my self is made by lub guard called ( I believe) is called kool guard. One use it by spraying a foam cleaner up the drain house by inserting a tube In to the drain tube. I found to keep the foam from coming out to quickly to put som painters tap around the drain tube and spray tube when spraying the foam out of the can; Not found in the directios.

I bought a 2004 subaru outback last year and when I changed the NORMAL air filter, one that should've been changed at every oil change, it was never changed. There were dead wasps and the filter was black. Not surprisingly that car didn't last a year

WOW, Scotty thanks for mentioning my CABIN AIR FILTER comment in your video, I be honored !!!! Yep, you are right. It was the first time my 2011 Nissan Rogue had a new cabin air filter, so 8 years!!! Haha, Yeah, your memes were about spot on, the filter was flat out nasty !

I bought an 03 RSX 184k miles last year and I replaced the cabin filter immediately. Things were so old, there was a indent/hole in the middle of both filters lol, grime all over.

I got a remote Armatron from Radio Shack in 1983, it came with batteries. It lasted 25 years and the batteries were still good when I gave it to my kid. Batteries use to last year's, not hours. Depending on the item. The batteries and just about everything else is designed to break or be replaced.

Charcoal filters are great for removing any funky smells. I spray Lysol in tbe spot before putting a new one in. Ozium works great too on filter material.
