Had this issue with a 24 year-old Mitsubishi Montero but replacement intake hose is discontinued and there's no aftermarket options. So I cleaned the cracked hose and sprayed the outside of it liberally with Plasti Dip as a temporary fix until I could track down a good used pipe. Worked like a charm.

My rock solid Acura had a lower ball joint fail and I had the lower control arm replaced. A couple of weeks later my transmission was making a buzzing noise form first gear and when I got home there was a giant red pool of fluid in my garbage and trail of it leading down my driveway. The transfer case seal blew. New transmission. I bought it new and have Acura dealer maintained it from the start. It’s a 2022 MDX Advance with 66k miles. Luckily under warranty and I may extend it because it’s still cheaper than buying another new car again in this day and age.

I have a 2018 Acura ILX and this issue was vexing me for over a year. Dealership was slow to diagnose until I switched service agents from a nice lady to a former mechanic who found the issue quickly. (A dry and brittle accordion duct with cracks.) Scotty Kilmer's 2007 Matrix, Good info about vacuum leak on air intake hose between engine & air filter bc being old, hard, having small cracks that only open up when accelerating from a stop, or accellerating harder, because that's when the engine moves the most & opens up the cracks...which allows too much air into engine & causes it to run lean, not getting enuf fuel, (because the mass airflow sensor isn't reading the extra air) as per the scan tool, which you ran while the vehicle was actually driving. This car threw an engine running lean code but only intermittently, & engine was stumbling when leaving idle & going into accelleration. Replace hose, now runs great. After fix, clear codes with scan tool, leave it connected, drive car & see what happens. If air leak was before the mass airflow sensor, on top of the air filter on this car, the engine wouldn't have run lean, because the sensor would have sensed it, & compensated for the extra air accordingly for the egine fuel delivery (given it more fuel). So, you can know the air leak was after this sensor, & know to look there for your problem. FYI - he says WIFI rear view cams never work for long.

I've cleaned and even changed the MAF Sensor and also changed this exact same part because it did indeed have several tiny cracks as I moved it around. The final result is still the same but again only when the temps are warm. It's winter now in Missouri and the engine light never comes on. Don't make any sense to me. Doesn't make any difference on the engine temp, only the outside air temp. BTW, my car takes off smoothly, any other suggestions certainly would be helpful. Thanks for another great tip Scotty

Everything is working, The Alternator is charging and shows about 14 volts. The car cranks just fine, but after replacing these 2 items the battery light is on and will not go off. I've tried resetting the maintenance procedure, I had it checked by a garage using a $6000 scanner and no codes are showing other than when the old battery failed. I had one guy who said it was the zener diode popped/blown, but never told me where it was located or how to check it and replace it. What is your suggestion for how I can get the battery light turned off and my dash back to normal? Thanks!
