I agree with Aba that the way people act when they are drunk is a reflection of how they are when they are sober. I have a friend who is cocky and can be a bit of a prick at times, but when he's drunk he's a full on arrogant asshole. Using the excuse, "Well, I was drunk" is a copout and is a poor excuse.

She admits in it that she'll probably continue to use the term and doesn't regret using the term. She also admits in it that she even questions the fact that the term itself is even homophobic. She wasn't apologetic in her "apology". She concluded by being cavalier about the whole situation. As an individual of her generation, as a woman, as a person of color, you would think that she would be most aware of what marginalization, scapegoating, and intersectionalization would be, even if she's not familiar with those terms.

“If you are problematic when you are drunk, you are problematic.” I’m not so sure about that anymore. Alcohol lowers your Inhibitions, while at the same time making you more aggressive. I'm glad that finally one person brought this up. Everyone else in the comments is stating that alcohol is a truth seerem. It's simply not that black and white. Sure that can be the case nine times out of ten, but the subconscious mind is like the iceberg under the sea; you generally only see the small part that's above water while the gigantic part remains submerged. And the subconscious mind is huge because it encompasses everything you have ever heard or seen; it contains the history of your species. So yeah, a blackout drunk can definitely come out with some wild shit that really has nothing to do with who that person really is. Not excusing anyone, just saying. @KitsyX4 жыл бұрын
For me I don't even really care what the word is, although some do sound meaner than others... With me it may be excusable depending on why they intended to hurt or demean... Not necessarily right, but excusable... I dunno... I have no real history with the N word outside of comedy and hip hop, so it's kinda harder for me to take it seriously... It is part of a lot of terrible history too though, so I can respect why it's still a thing... Might be better to just normalise the word so it has less power, but I dunno... Probably would take a while... Trying to fully remove the word is most likely harder though... Sorry, I tend to ramble.

@watchandjewelryloft47134 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I've never used the word. Don't want to. Don't care. But I find the while mental gymnastics of those that do absolutely nauseating. One person can say it in one context, and another can't say it in ANY context. Meanwhile one group can sling it at each other more than a valley girl uses "like." You people can miss me with that crap. If someone says the N word and you use it daily and you still feel justified in some sort of cancel culture or even physically assaulting the , you're a much bigger problem then the person who said a word. Literally one word and that sets these people off? I'm so done with it. In just done.
@mickys3334 жыл бұрын
@@watchandjewelryloft4713 I feel the same way. People like to say, they use it to take it back and take back the power of the word, but how are you taking back its power when it can still hurt you so badly when someone that doesn't look like you uses it. I'd understand if they mean to say someone who looks like me can say it because they can't mean it in a hurtful way and if they do they're only insulting themselves. That's fine and that makes sense but that is very different from taking the power out of a word and changing it into a positively charged word.

I can only truly speak for myself, but I have never once done something out of character while drunk. Drunk-me is just sober-me, but louder. Anytime I have been told stories about what I did while blacked out (I was essentially a functional alcoholic for a while, but no longer drink) I was entirely unsurprised by what I heard. My reaction was always "Yep, that sounds like me. That's what I would decide under those circumstances." I have always found it very easy to reconstruct my probable reasoning and predict the rest of the actions I would have taken, because it doesn't appear to differ significantly from my reasoning under normal circumstances, aside from the obvious caveats of being a bit slow to work through permutations and contingencies due to alcohol's depressant effects. And nothing I have witnessed from anyone else has convinced me that their personality suddenly changes when drunk either.... my observation based hypothesis is that the greater the disparity between a person's typical behavior and their drunken state, the greater the dissonance between their public mask and their private persona.

True, but I could argue isn't your inhibition also part of your character though? There's two side to a character, one is what you feel, the other one is what you think. What you feel isn't necessarily what you think. Like when you're angry you get the violent tendencies and feel you want to hit the person making you angry, that's natural in all people. Anyone who said otherwise is a lying ass b*tch. But you know that it's a terrible thing to do, you are able to come to a rational conclusion that you shouldn't do it by thinking. Alcohol remove that rational part of your character, which is why some people do shit they know they would regret the next morning like calling their ex and begging to them to come back. They know they shouldn't and it's pathetic. That's why contract signed under intoxicated condition is null, because you are not really you, a part of you are missing. The rational part is not there. Human work by having these two part constantly battling/enforcing each other. sometimes they fight, sometimes they agree. and both part combined is what makes you the real you, the complete you. Fuck I sound like a hippie

Alcohol doesn't make you say things you don't already want to say, but is everything you want to say when you're sober always what you feel, think or do? Sometimes I'd like to say stuff like "Hey! I'm a big fat bunny rabbit!", but I don't mean it, I just like to say stupid stuff. To many the N word is taboo, exciting, edgy, but only know it through comedy or hip hop or whatever... They might not want to actually hurt anyone, but they might still want to say the word for other reasons... Maybe she was pissed off at a guy and just wanted to say what she thought would hurt them most, rather than it actually being racially motivated... I dunno, I'm not saying she didn't mean it, I've no idea and it probably doesn't explain other things I don't know about, but I think many people only look at the surface and then quit investigating... Often the simplest solution can be the most likely, but it can be misleading to judge a book by its cover too... Oh well...

If someone is angry and lashes out to hurt that person, the truth on the core strength of their relationship and respect for each other is the truth that is revealed. You are pointing out the event and not the fact that the essence of a personality that was being hidden is revealed. Someone being an alcoholic is a separate situation to whether alcohol release inhibition. I never stated that alcohol changes ones personality but breaks down the walls they were using to shield it.

The biggest difference I have noted in people considered smart is not “what they think” or “how fast they think” but is more of “how they think in general”. Some people’s thought process is very rigid and concise, while other have verbose and branched thought process. Short story is IQ is a very very very bad way to calculate intellect.

You all need to stop taking these KZbinrs online who do nothing but trash talk someones every move so seriously. What do you gain from watching these drama channels? Serious question. We would all be ”cancelled” if we had these drama channels following and stalking our every move. Twisting our words and creating their own narrative. Constantly assuming and projecting. I can't imagine going out my way to try to ruin someone else. No I need all the energy I have for myself.

Again she needs therapy... In her apology she said she has been in chat rooms since she was a child... Who was taking care of her? No child should be on chat rooms... I'm not excusing her, stay off line and get help...
@KitsyX4 жыл бұрын
Depends what we mean by child... Though yeah... I remember hanging out in a Sailor Moon chat room when I was about 14 or 15... Love Sailor Moon still ^_^; Not as keen on chat rooms...
@mickys3334 жыл бұрын
Yea. Instead of apologizing, what she needs to do is get help because all those issues that cause her to act this way and fetishize that bs isn't going to go away simply because she's apologizing. She's either going to continue that same behavior behind close doors or stuff it down until it bubbles back to the surface. Only way to get through this is to deal with watever is causing her to act this way and get past it.
