💥𝘿𝙊𝙆𝙆𝙀𝙉 - 𝙁𝙪𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 the new single! 💥 Taken from the new album 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒐𝒘𝒏 out 27 October. Available to pre-order now here: lnk.to/DokkenHeavenComesDown
#dokken #fugitive #heavencomesdown
An unapologetic celebration of everything Dokken do best, yet now through a wiser and richer lens, Heaven Comes Down, the 13th studio album from the legendary American rockers, will be released on October 27, 2023 (Silver Lining Music).
“The long anticipated new Dokken album, ‘Heaven Comes Down’, is finally done and the first single is titled ‘Fugitive’!” declares Don Dokken. “The inspiration for the lyrics came from what seems to me to be an uncertain world these days. It’s an up-tempo Rokker as are many on the album. I don't know what the future holds for our world, so I decided to take a step back and watch it all unfold… Yes, I guess I've become like many these days a fugitive from life. Hence the title!”
“The song rocks and the lyrics are self-explanatory,” continues Don, “like many songs I've written, it came to me late at night. Inspiration and pure stream of consciousness have always been the best formula for me when composing. It has that classic Dokken sound… A great song to blast when driving down the highway.”
Video directed by Chris Eyre (Dark Winds, Smoke Signals) at Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Video by Tom Strickfaden.
You want to rock? Sink your teeth into ‘Fugitive’, which rides some shimmering guitar work courtesy of 20+ year member Jon Levin, and if you want ballads, head on over to ‘I’ll Never Give Up’, hanging on that Coliseum chorus, Levin laying down a landmark solo. The pattern of Heaven Comes Down never falters in delivering the goods on both sides of the fence. ‘Just Like A Rose’ brings the Pacific Coast Highway to desert plains with its smooth, effortlessly-driven gears, and ‘Saving Grace’ carries a mystical malevolence. But ‘Santa Fe’ is perhaps the most revealing with Don Dokken opening up with what amounts to a ‘life-moment biography’: a spartan acoustic arrangement allowing the rich yet road-driven vocals to frame what might well prove to be the defining moment of Dokken’s career.
Mixed by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa) and produced by Bill Palmer and Don Dokken, fans will love it, neutrals will be wonderfully surprised by some of the ingredients within Heaven Comes Down. Heaven Comes Down will be released on CD Digipak, 12” Vinyl Album in Black and colour variants, digital formats and special D2C products and bundles. Available to pre-order from August 8th 2023 here: lnk.to/DokkenHeavenComesDown

@@brettpoe3069 No don't mind at all. I worked there in the early '90s. 710 was a Recording and Practice Studio, I was the Manager/Engineer, I set up gear, repaired gear, did maintenance on equipment, tuned Don's guitars, booked the rehearsal space, Wine gopher, etc. The best part of the gig was who would show up there. Of course all the original members of Dokken, Mick Brown, Jeff Pilson, and even George Lynch. It was the first time Don and George had been in the same room together since the split. Dio (RIP) showed up one day and hung out with Don. The guys from Great White had the space right across the parking lot from 710, they would stop over when they were in town. George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic dropped in with the band to lay down a track on their way to the UK. A few others were Mother Love Bone used the rehearsal side during their first Album. Robin Thicke tracked his Demo there with Don's help he went on to get signed. The who's who of the South Bay rock crowd made their way in to hang out. I have great memories of my time there, hanging out with the original band was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and there was way too much to put it all here.

I NEVER tire of this sound , and judging by how many young people i see in their cars rocking 80's hair metal id say that history will prove it is some of the MOST LOVED and best selling music of all time. Hats off to Don for staying true to his roots and the sound that we Dokken fans LOVE !!!! Yeah, I never understood people who trash talk 80s rock/metal. Even during the 90s, although there were some great bands, I thought the general scene was too pretentious and lacked the fun, playfulness of 80s music (and 80s fashion). People teased me for listening to 80s music instead of "The Current Thing," but history is in the process of vindicating bands like Dokken.

I saw these guys not too long ago and they killed it! We all thought Don sounded really good. The pipes may not be as strong as they were as back in the day but he still did the songs justice and got the job done. Jon Levin was amazing too! All members sounded rock solid! Definitely be on the lookout for Dokken in your town. They were easily the best sounding band on the bill.

@@metalmike570 Actually, Don used to play lead guitar before he brought George into the band. After 1983-84, I didn't see him playing rhythm guitar on stage anymore; I guess he wanted to focus on his vocals more at the time. But then, in Dokken's acoustic sessions, he is playing again. He had a botched neck and spinal surgery in 2019, and it caused his right arm and hand to be paralyzed, although he's getting some of the movement back. Poor guy has been through a lot.

But I agree they had to do some work on this to make Don sound this good. What also trips me out is how Stephen Pearcy of RATT got his voice back naturally. For many years his voice was shot from drinking and smoking, He cleaned his act up and got a vocal coach and he sounds great like he did back in the 80's. He has had cancer too recently and lost alot of weight. He is really doing good now.
