Rita Moreno is an actress and broadway star. She was in the original movie version of Westside Story. She played Anita. She’s 91 and still going strong. The dress the doll is wearing is a copy of the dress she wore when she received the Academy Award. Tallchief was the first American prima ballerina. She was Native American and helped revolutionize ballet choreography… I think the Mackie doll is so chic. The Dream Bestie boy is a must have, even though I said I wasn’t going to buy any of the series. He’s too cute to pass up. I enjoy your doll talk videos but have to tie my purse strings tight when I watch. 😂👍🏻🩷🌷🩷👍🏻😂 p.s. I so want this year’s Barbie Twelve Days doll but I just can’t afford her right now.

I completely agree with the idea of odile not giving enough Barbie when compared to Millie, tbh I think ceo/gg is the ultimate smiling face mold for Barbie Malibu the character, she’s extremely timeless and I don’t think any faces is ever going to top her within the play line spectrum, but I would also love to see the mackie face to make a return in the collector part. Plus these two face molds are very similar, and I’m sure ceo began as an opened mouth version of mackie at first. For me, playline ceo, collector mackie, and please go back to the belly button body.

I've actually heard that gg was created as a combo of superstar and mackie, made in a more youthful way, so I do agree on that. But imo, superstar is actually the image most people associate with the idea of barbie, since she was around for so, so long. It depends on the generation who you ask, but gg was gorgeous in her early years, but became a bit strange after 2009. Big head, big eyes, too much bright pink in her clothes, generic face like millie is today. But the early movie dolls were amazing, especially Clara and Odette. Imagine a reboot of those! 😍

I’m getting two of the María Tallchief. She is from Oklahoma where I live. I only know about her because I taught Oklahoma History both to elementary students and then later to high school students. She had humble beginnings but really went far in life. I had bought her doll to pair with a kids book about her to donate to a toy drive. I really wanted one to keep though. Turns out my husband had already ordered one for me for Christmas. LOL

She is Native American from the Osage tribe and one of the first prima ballerinas. She sold out. My Native friend also watches your videos. I hope they give the Aaliyah doll her grace. I agree that Odile is giving “friend of Barbie”. I personally don’t mind Millie, she’d look great if they didn’t make her face look so cheap with the gross pixelation every time.

Millie, open mouth and closed mouth, can look so beautiful when done right. Sadly, most Millies have the blonde hair, blue eye, pink lip look we've seen forever. (Worse when they're pixellated.) I'd like to see Millie tweaked and done in more interesting ways. Red lips, nude lips, different eye and hair colors. I'd love to see a brunette Millie. In terms of Odile, I don't want to see her overexposed to the point she becomes the next Millie. I don't want to see every single Barbie doll, especially in the play line, have the Odile face. I'd rather she remain special. Putting her in the play line is a great idea but I don't want her to be commonplace and trite. I get what others say about Odile seeming more like a friend, but I see Odile as maybe the ultimate Barbie. I see a lot of past Barbies in her face: Twist 'N' Turn and Steffie in her lips, nose, and facial silhouette. (Actually, her facial silhouette is reminiscent of the first Barbies, too.) Her eyes look so '90s. (At least Premiere Pink's eyes look that way.) She has side-glancing eyes like so many older Barbies. Regardless, she's an incredible doll.

Much like you I have conflicting feelings about Odile possibly being the new default face for Barbie. As much as I love her, I do think she is not perfectly suitable as THE Barbie. Adult collectors like ourselves might gravitate towards her, but I am unsure if she looks friendly enough to appeal to children🤔 She looks quite sultry and "mature" in a way (which is exactly why I personally find her gorgeous 💘) and therefore is not as "approachable" if that makes sense. Millie definitely is more appealing towards children I think, and I also associate her face with Barbie, rather than our pouty lipped beauty Odile 😉Then again I would not be mad if we got a variety of Odiles to choose from soon 😻 Guess we'll all just have to wait and see what Mattel decides to do 🤷‍♀

I have been saying the same since odile first came out . And people wanted her to replace millie but to me odile is the daughter of the steffie mold . And tbh now that every one knows her name would they ever call her BARBIE? . Another doll talk video. Just what I needed to relax after a tiring day at work. Ahhh, thanks Arjen. I loved what you said about the Barbie and the Rockers 40th Anniversary dolls. We shouldn't have to choose! They're a group! LOL It's going to be weird if they just put out a Dana, Dee Dee, or Diva doll, just one. It's very unlikely it will be Derek. Well at least they aren't just going to completely cheap out. And put them out in generic Fashionista form with T-shirt dresses with Barbie and the Rockers just printed on the front for 10 bucks a piece. I have to respectfully disagree about the Odile face mold. To me, she's Barbie baby! No just friend of Barbie. She has that really almost sexy side glance and because of that, to me, her vibe is like the original Twist & Turn Barbie. She's just very pretty, great Barbie blond hair, and she stands out. And though I like Millie, and I'm happy with the dolls with that face mold I've bought over the years. I wouldn't be a bit sad if Odile was the new face of Barbie. Using her more often doesn't make her less special, it makes her more special. Things we really love, we want more of. 🥰

My theory is this, I think that Monster High and Mattel as a whole is killing it and that MGA knew better than to try to compete. 34:26 my theory on rainbow, high dying, Monster High G3. The huge trend I saw was of creators that I watch, making “ I’m no longer collecting rainbow high because Monster High is coming back”. And I’m sure that MGA saw the same thing. And I really think that that’s what caused them to change their demographic. Of course I would’ve rather have them double down and put out such amazing designs that forced people to actually think about the need to decide between the two. But since they’re just acting and creating childish doll, is they tending more to losing even though that we’re planning on staying loyal to them.

My 2 cents is that we need to retire Millie and Odile would bring back a bit of that superstar era glamour that the brand is lacking. That being said, if she starts to suffer the same bad screenings and unfashionable clothes (t-shirt dresses) it could be a bit of a mess. The quality of the clothes must match the face. I'm not sure how many Odile dolls I would buy just for the face - though replacing all the Millie ones I own with her would be a tempting ideal. Bravo for the Witch Weaver but I will not be purchasing the doll mainly due to monetary concerns, same reason the Christmas Angel and the 12 Days are currently out of budget. They have it us with lots of releases lately! All I have to say about Rainbow High is RIP, it's over for us adults and fashion lovers. Love your doll news!

The Odile face is very pretty, but she’s definitely not giving main Barbie vibes. She just doesn’t have that ‘all American girl’ feel that the main Barbie needs. She feels like the overly stylised pretty friend, the P.J./Steffie to Millie’s Barbie.

Yay! A new video! I don't know what will become of the Dream Besties, if they'll survive or just be relegated to the land of What Might Have Been. I ordered Daisy Jean because, despite the outfit, she's downright adorable. She's on a curvy body, a big plus for me. I like the big-head aesthetic; I once collected Madame Alexander Cissy and, although I am no longer actively collecting Ellowyne Wilde, another big head doll, I have a pretty substantial collection and don't need to buy any more. Oh, and Daisy Jean is supposed to be a queer character, which makes me want her even more.

I wanted to have Aaliyah doll back in the 2000's years. It makes no sense to produce it just now so many years after her death. There were so many unknown women made into Barbie versions through these years. And she must look so bad knowing the nowadays standarts.

Hello Arjen, Rita Moreno (MorEno) is a legendary actress, very famous among the Baby Boomers (like me). However, to me, this doll looks more like Marlo Thomas (star of the TV show, “That Girl,” which aired in the 60’s to early 70s). Question, I just received my Barbie Diwali doll and I can see that Mattel has changed her knees and elbows so they now look like the knees/elbows that Integrity Toys uses on their dolls. When did Mattel begin doing this? Though I mainly collect Integrity Toys dolls, I enjoy your videos, especially the way you style your dolls. You’re very talented!
