I think adult collectors became more well known and companies realized they could profit from us. So they make these outrageously priced toys with manufactured scarcity and collectors fall for it because we just love dolls.

@@nanopanda the point is to make them collector when a brand has a collector doll it will be more thought after and ppl will wake up and be o the site when it drops its not unfair that someone didn't get a doll and its not the brands fault they can't stop resellers and ,Mattel and mag tried to to but no matter what the brands get the money so they really don't care and also if resellers get the doll the price will go down bc they don't want to keep them the second hand market is pretty cheap bc of resellers and we can see with pennywise and the Grady twins what it look like when collectors resell there dolls

I have the answer for that! They didn't sell to scalpers at all. They posted the item, limited to 1, 3 or 4 captchas, and tried their hardest to put in blocks for bots but hackers exist so they can't really be stopped. MGA didn't sell to hackers, hackers just hacked. They didn't sell more because of licensing issues. It's limited because that's how licensing works. Everyone keeps acting like it was a personal attack. Nope, just too limited for the fanbase and people with high tech kinda suck for the sake of financial gain. They're overrun with stock on ebay and people aren't giving in so the price is almost at the Canadian price (we had to pay a Border premium, $130 total)

​@@Resellersruineverything Ummm, no. Many companies have successfully stopped bots and hackers by either producing more product or offering pre-orders. MGA is simply lazy. They were unprepared and unprofessional, and their website is subpar! As for licensing, Paramount is keen to promote Mean Girls at any opportunity, so I highly doubt this was a licensing issue. Many other Mean Girls collaborations with different companies have taken place this month to celebrate the 20th anniversary, and none of those drops were this disappointing! There is absolutely no reason this collaboration performed so poorly, and MGA still has not addressed it because they seem to prefer mass-producing dolls that no one cares about instead of responding to their fans' requests. They have only released two Bratz lines this year. They have been slacking significantly!

Every Barbie Collector in the States was really upset because she was shown on Creation for $35 and increased the price to $45 just a couple days later. They should have kept the price $35. Since her face is on four dolls. Not buying her because of the price mistake (Riley)

While I understand that frustration. $45 is still a good price considering designer fee, articulation and quality clothing. The clothing alone they would sell for $25-30 in a pack.

It is frustrating. Mattel should have honored the $35 price for members for the first 24 hours, just to save face and placate people who are understandably unhappy about the sudden higher price. On the other hand, it does mean the scammers and speculators had to pay $10 more for each doll and that eats into their profit! Last night, the Maeve Reilly doll was on "presale" on eBay for prices ranging from $80 to $125. 🙄 I missed out on the Diwali Barbie, a little bummed about that but she's not that essential to my collection. Had to get the Juan Gabriel Barbie on the secondary market because I hadn't joined the club when it was first announced. Heck, I wasn't even back to collecting Barbie then! Without going into details, there are other, smaller companies that are also flooding their own markets. Dropping a bunch of dolls at once isn't, in the long run, going to hurt big companies like Mattel and MGA. I'm just sayin'.

Arjen- I think I sometimes forget Mattel and Barbie are a business. I try to control myself as I chose which Barbies and Kens to add to my collection. You are correct- they are dropping them FAST!!!! I love the Dia de Muertos Kris Goyri doll. I love her white dress. I had never heard the story and it was interesting to listen to. She looks like a regular woman dressed as a Catrina in her white dress ready to go to a Dia de Muertos celebration. The Barbie styled by Maeve Reilly is beautiful. And I agree- simple but georgeous. Bratz doll collector here, and I can't thank you enough. For being so understanding about making sure we get the dolls. I am the same way with Barbie drops, I let the collectors get it first. And if I am able to get it, then I purchase. As far as the drop, though. So many of us couldn't get it, due to so many issues. It sucks that MGA doesn't have a better way to block scalpers. I hope I can get the Mean Girls doll, but if not. I'm not about to pay my car insurance rate for a doll on Ebay. As for the MyScene dolls, I wish Mattel gives it the love it deserves. Even though I was a Bratz girly during the whole MGA vs Mattel early 2000s battle. I had a few MyScene dolls and I loved them. Madison is my favorite, and no one couldn't tell me that she wasn't the rich girl in the group 😂

I think companies are resistant to shipping internationally because of stories I’ve heard secondhand of European customs agents ripping $150 Fashion Royalty dolls out of their boxes and even undressing them as if they are being used to smuggle drugs. I sent a friend in Canada a Dream Ella doll, and the customs agent ripped the doll out of the package and threw the doll and the ripped package back in the box like nothing happened. I say a prayer whenever I send friends who live outside of the US dolls!

Good day! My mom and I have been collecting dolls again since I started working. We got excited about this latest Filipina Barbie as designed by Carlyle Nuera (who also designed the lovely Mutya Barbie back in 2015). I love that the Chocolate Hills (a popular tourist attraction in the Philippines) are also incorporated into the shoe design aside from the bahay kubo (nipa hut). I still recall the time when Richwell Philippines produced and distributed Filipina Barbies wearing traditional costumes as designed by Filipino designers. They looked intricate whereas the pricing was reasonable enough then (nowadays it's rare to find them in mint condition while the prices are way higher). Might as well wait for the time that the Styled By Design Filipina Barbie would... go on sale maybe, before we could purchase her, since we're still saving up to have her (and hopefully Mutya Barbie as well) eventually ...

Scalpers are the #1 fear of a lot of adult doll collectors. We all want to get these dolls before the scalpers do and start selling them for 2x, 3x, 4x, even 5x their original price which, let’s be honest, is WAY more than some of us can afford. Also, I agree that these excessive doll drops need to stop. Or at least slow down. A few months between drops would be nice. Ya know, give us some time to get excited about the next drop.

OMG, 90s Disney dolls, and Barbies, with PTR arms (palm to rear) and the only arm articulation was up and down towards the front, not even out to the side. Which if you put their right arm straight out, it looked like a very unfortunate salute of a certain person. Nowadays, I can't imagine a doll having such poor articulation, even more so than what we complain to be the basic 5 points of articulation today. But back then, we kind of just accepted it, but of course they were all playline dolls and none were considered to be meant for adult collecting. Not like today where the majority of dolls and money made from doll sales seem to come from adult collectors.

Arjen i really liked this video! I actually recently really wanted The Bratz X Mean Girls Regina doll and on the Bratz website her and Cady are sold out 😔 i can't believe it (I'm more of a Barbie girl but i am loving those Mean Girls Bratz!) I also really love that Mauve Riley Barbie doll she is just gorgeous she might be expensive though

Bedankt weer voor je mooie uitleg☺️. Inderdaad weleens lastig als verzamelaar met zoveel wat er uitkomt om je in te houden😂😮. Gelukkig heb ik denk ik wel een bepaalde voorkeur🤔waardoor het in mijn ogen wel meevalt😂. Ik ben nu ook met de mini brands verrassingsballen in de weer, zo leuk ook😊maar ook wel verslavend 😂🤭. We moeten ook weleens streng zijn voor onszelf als verzamelaars en zeggen nee, je hebt nu genoeg van dit😂😂😮. It,s a shame that Mattel niet verder met je ging😂😮voor mij ben jij de beste, leukste,schattigste👌 barbie influencer 🎉🎉❤. Maar inderdaad als je in Amerika had gewoond hadden ze dit wel gewild. Zal wel vanuit een commercieel oogpunt weer bekeken zijn. 💸. Wat betreft deze releases, staat er voor mij niet 1 gepland om toe te voegen aan mijn collectie. Vind ze wel heel leuk en sommigen ook erg mooi en bijzonder. Wilde heel graag de diwali 2024, 😒maar is ook zo 1 die nu voor een hoge prijs op marktplaats staat en via amazon regent het commentaar van allemaal gebroken dozen. Dat durf ik dan niet aan.
