@@growingfromhome. That is so wonderful! It makes me feel so nice that we inspired you :). It has been a REAL hit here. I haven't figured out all the things to give merits for, but today we have two kids (solomon and sophia) who are really not scoring well. I told them if they went the whole day without a scoring violation I would give them 100 merits, and they were REALLY motivated...

@@TheMillsFamilyVlog My kids are so excited! An instant improvement in attitudes. Yes, that will fluctuate, but we needed something like this to get some motivation going with our kids. What sold me, from your video, is how your older kids were just as excited, and just how motivated they are by smaller things like snacks and drinks. Mine are too!! I think this is going to be great!

Another idea is a couple mystery gifts. They could be gift cards, dinner with Dad, etc etc. whatever activity your kids love. That way you’ll have chance to do one on one time.

I love the idea of adding an “experience” for them! Day out with you, special meal, etc.. that will be something meaningful & memorable for them.

Great idea! As far as ideas for the shop maybe feed into their hobbies. Drawing tablet or pencils. Also sewing notions. Maybe some cheap tools from Harbor freight for the older boys; tire pressure gauge, multi screwdriver.

Tom, what you are doing is a great incentive project for all the kids! A very Christian thing to do. For extra special things being rewarded. I like the extra things you're going to make, like ice cream with Dad, going to a specific restaurant. You did good at choosing things your kids like! Tey were all excited for getting or saving for something. I'm watching this twice so I don't miss anything! God Bless you and the children...

I love the idea of a merit store. I wish I’d done that when my kids were younger. They’re grown now, but they might have gotten along better if we’d had a merit store. 👍

Great idea Tom! Your ask for suggestions... As is, the attraction for anything other than the drinks and snacks would be for the young kids. The older ones would need something more to motivate them. The coupons for a dinner out is good for them. For the dinner ones I'd recommend that it just be a coupon for dinner, not only with you necessarily. They could hold the coupons for a time while another kid has saved up and they could go with a sibling or a friend outside the home. Once you have your final structure in place you might want to use this as a learning activity and allow for the older kids to be your administrators (on a rotational basis), to work with you to manage it. This would be beneficial to allow them to gain enhanced skills in communication, decision making and so on. You could set it up that they meet with you weekly to recommend desired items, let you know when stocks are low, etc. Time is the one commodity you don't usually have enough of so being involved at the higher level would probably work better for you. Ideally I'd say that you'd want to have the kids be able to make a "purchase" daily, maybe they could say that they'd like to buy something while you're eating dinner and then after dinner they could pay for the item and get it that day. If not then twice a week, to coordinate around the Thursday shopping trips. say, Saturdays/Mondays. Best wishes!

Love the idea Tom, great job! My children are grown adults and they would have loved this idea when they were younger! My granddaughter is going to be 2 in July, my daughter and her husband can do something like this for her when she is older!❤️❤️❤️ Positive reinforcement works wonders!

I would definitely have them put their names on the money😊 or have a “bank” where you store their money with the amount they have. They could even earn interest for keeping a balance. Love this idea!

I think it’s a great idea!! I think some older prizes for the older kids looked like lots of little kid stuff except for the food. I think they’re really going to like the one on one time tickets you put in there! Maybe candy bar from gas station ticket or something from Walmart ticket? Positive reinforcement always works really well Andrea would have loved it!

Next time you should get some of the prizes for the older kids! Maybe some lipstick or cool hair accessories for Eden. Or tools for the boys since they both now have cars. Maybe car air fresheners.

I love merits much better than demerits. Rewards are more incentive. I think this is much better. The prices can go up after the Grand Opening of the store so they might have to save for a few more items! LOL

I think for teenagers they need something more like gift cards for gas for their cars or gift card for fast food places, trips witj dad. Etc. I LOVE this system and think I'll implement it into my homeschool. Wr have a treasure chest with dollar tree items but it's empty and I havnt gotten around to restocking it
