Other props are great, too, but I'll never get tired of seeing you make blasters tbh. One of the coolest ones you've made to date. And at long last, a working trigger!

For the average person, this would be great for a Halloween party prop, or wall decoration in a game room. Lots of candies come in plastic containers that can be reused in a bazillion different ways ..

YAY, a working trigger. the trigger helps bring the prop to life by giving something to the actor to fidget with while interacting with the prop.

Auto stores also carry a tool called a carbide scraper usually around $20. Very handy for quick removal of raised logos and mold lines gives a nice flat finish

Anthony, you were one of the first makers I watched and subscribed to. And i'm still hooked on every video you make. This one is a great build. Lots of happy accidents (which your master of BTW). I was at a local comic-con on the weekend and someone was selling transformed blasters, but they weren't a patch on the quality that you've produced here. Thank you for sharing, your dedication and for your infectious enthusiasm.

I would be curious to see a project where you make two otherwise identical blasters one with a functional trigger and one without, then film a scene twice once with each weapon, and then see if there is any real difference once lighting sound and VFX are done, also maybe a third where you do put a weight in the handle. Just control all the variables you can to see for yourself and all of us which of these sorts of details really seem to matter to the final performance. I could also see using a still functional nerf gun and greenscreening out the dart or ball with whatever plasma bolt you use and again see if and to what degree it effects the performance.

@@createscifi that's almost too bad, I had started to envision a series of side by sides to see which things mattered and which ones didn't, then at the end you could do like a fist full of dollars in space 8 man Mexican standoff side by side with all the mods on one side and all the controls on the other to see how much if at all this stuff at the prop level changed things when it came to the screen.

Quick side note...I got my Create Sci Fi logo T-shirt in the Zenith Run colors and I love it. The shirt is soft and is a little longer cut in the chest than regular T-shirts so I dig it even more! I can't really wear it on my professional gigs but I will be wearing it around all of my filmmaker buddies. BTW, Zenith Run ROCKS!!! I wouldn't mind seeing more of their adventures...just throwing it out there

It amazes me that you can turn dollar store water guns or thrift store nerf blaster, into amazing hero and background props. Also, you could have kept the pump grip, made it into a semi-auto plasma shotgun.

Want to share a miniature painting trick with you. If you add mineral spirits to that oil paint, you will make an awesome oil wash that works better than your acrylic wash. Also comes off really easy if you go too hard in some areas. That said it also locks in nicely with a clear coat at the end. Had to share you have added so much to my kitbashing work, just glad to be able to repay some knowledge that you have imparted into my hobby.

When making a Hero Prop do you ever add weight to give it a more realistic feel for the actors? Give it momentum. A12 inch piece of galvanized fence pipe would be about the right weight for that item.

When actors are *doing* things, I'm always watching their fingers. Fake triggers, fake buttons, even fake knobs or valve wheels, I notice that. And it bugs me every time! I'm glad to learn I'm not the only one bugged by that! It's frustrating how many otherwise amazing looking sci-fi will have props that don't MOVE like they're supposed to. Buttons are the biggest offender. I always think "Did the prop guy not know the actor was actually going to interact with that prop?"
