That is fantastic. And you are 100 % right about the flat surface glueing. I experienced that the hard way with the thin part of a Boba Fett rocket. I used superglue, and it survived everything. All of the photoshoots, the transport to the con. Then I noticed that I forgot to put my battery for the blinking chest thingy. I went back to my car - jetpack on. Opened the car lid - and snap. What a great guillotine! After that, I tried to reglue it with superglue. No chance. At home, I decided to go for a threaded metal rod and epoxy glue. Seems much more stable now. But of course I still have to be mindful of doors and such.
@euansmith36992 жыл бұрын

Two jobs ago, the drama department used stuff called Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty to fill gaps and mold shapes. It's water based, doesn't have any real odor, and I think is cheap. I don't know if it would substitute for Bondo or not. Takes a long time to dry ( day or so). The Dollar Tree has a lot of cool stuff......

So no... you're not a weirdo for using your fingers to spread those various pastes. Also, my go-to undercoat of late has been a rattle-can of Army Painter Plate Mail Metal. That looks dope. How would you go about making it heavier? I always thought that making your prop weapon as heavy as the real thing is what really sells it.
@the_arcanum2 жыл бұрын
Stick fishing weights with a copious amount of hot glue in the handle or the chamber (center the mass to those parts, don't weight the barrel, that just make it unwieldy and more difficult for the actor) .
@Nathankinamorh2 жыл бұрын
Open up the handle, hot glue in some metal plates. Hot glue fishing weights inside of the plasting housing. A little can go a long ways with those.

I read a Doctor Who 'New Adventures' book in the early 1990's, which featured a galactic criminal called Sheldukher. One of his thugs had a highly illegal energy weapon, called a 'Moosehead Repeater'. The USP of this gun, was that it was ridiculously powerful - to the point where it was able to destroy satellites in orbit, or small spacecraft carrying, say, law enforcement personnel. This thing is the size of a large rifle. It'd be awesome to make something like that.
