Salt dough naturally speckles as it dries. Air dry to keep the dough from spreading and paint after drying.

@@lizfenwickdiy I used to make salt dough ornaments for Christmas with my kids and always let them air dry then would paint. We used cookie cutters. My youngest is now 40 and I still had some of her ornaments up until a couple of years ago.

If you mix the food coloring in the water when you mix the dough, you will get at more even coloring and don’t over knead the dough. 😊

Best option for holding wicks up is popsicle stick (or similar) with a hole in middle so u can feed wick through it and it holds it up ❤

For your orange candle, you can burnish it gently with a microfiber cloth to get rid of the wax that shows through. It also will give the candle a satin finish!

In my candlemaking kit, I got some wood shims that looks just like the ones you put on that bowl and they have holes in them and they work really really good. You can go get you a drill and drill holes down in your little sham wood that you put on your cat made for your candle and then the stickerup in them and lay across the bowl like you did and it may keep them standing straight up too neat and you don’t have to use all that tape you used

So many things I gotta try! The floral pumpkins are STUNNING! Hacks 🎃 I’d go for black 🎃for the tissue hack (Also Vicks puffs plus are great for allergy or have a cold ) Ummm where’s the bullseyes?? Some of them are a little more vowel than I have patience for, but at least you point out things that don’t work instead of all the wonderful things that had no floss. I would say my favorite was the large candle that you made, I wouldn’t have that patience so I’m sure marshals or TJ Maxx will be a possible purchase.

Hey Liz, wonderful ideas as usual. Thank you kindly for sharing. Here's another, cut out the mouth of the pumpkin & lay the tissues flat except for a little bend in the middle of the tissue. Then pull the tissue out the pumpkins mouth. Also can be set on the table or wherever you use them. Kids love them & ergo wipes their own noses; especially good for the fall cold & flu season. I probably missed if someone already said this. Pour your hot wax in a measuring cup or an old coffee pot then either pour in the funnel or straight in. There are usually old coffee pots in thrift stores. Love your channel.

Gel food color is so much better for coloring anything as it's concentrated. Food dyes like you used are full of water which means you added a lot of water with little color pay off. I would never dye wax with food dyes, get candle dyes. Again you don't want to keep adding water to wax. . You can melt the napkin to the candle with a heat gun. You can also use fabric for the design- I made some probably 20 years ago or more; they can be used year after year. The polka dot pumpkin was cute too. I really like your floral pumpkin project. The candle looks amazing and the ghost utensil holder is charming.

I've made candles for over 40 years. For safety, you never heat wax in a pan directly on the burner of the stove,wax has a flash point and can catch fire. Also, if there's any residue from your pan on the burner, it can start to smoke and then start to burn,
