I found it easier to make baskets when mine were little because they liked to play with toys and stuff. Now it's a sweet treat and a nicer gift (not extravagant) like a piece of jewelry or once I did flowers for my daughter with lotto tickets and candy in it.

Not the norm. Usually kids just exchange little valentine cards with their classmates. A box of 20 or so is about $3.

It might depend on the area. I’ll try to remember to get a video of the valentines they bring home from classmates. As for the baskets for my kids, I’ve always done them for holidays. My grandma did them for me when I was a kid and I loved it.

No this is not normal whatsoever, spending lots of money on poor quality candy for your kids is nuts. Normal valentines gifts is a box of good quality chocolates and maybe a small gift.

We always just got our children some kind of small box of candy and the cards to exchange with classmates and of course their teacher got a special rose or heart candy box. Mom and dad always got each other a nice box of chocolate. My parents got each other that cheap stuff but I told my husband from the get go not to bother getting me that because it was a waste of money that I wouldn’t eat. And so he spent some more and got me some imported chocolate or some gormet chocolate like Lindt, Cadbury, Godiva etc. white chocolate’s was and still is my favorite.

Wow I was surprised how many of the valentine products were still available. People have been doing these hauls for dollar store valentines stuff for awhile. I figured they probably would be sold out because a lot of dollar stores hv the st Patrick day stuff already stocked.

Why do you feel the need of buying so much junk for your kids?
