Yeah, that is something I was afraid of. Gaijin's lack of plans for the implementation of Naval ships right now (coupled with a very cramped BR range) means that they will look at the tech tree and go "ah nice, this nation got a complete lineup in this BR range already and the next BR range is for something stronger, it should be okay if we make this a Premium" instead of decompressing and making gaps in the tech tree that vehicles could fill in over time. I first got this issue with the IJN Myoko which is more or less a better Furutaka/Aoba being a premium instead of a 6.0 or replacement for the IJN Ikoma pre-dreadnought at 5.7. Probably even worse here since US doesn't even have a complete 7.0 line up.

Honestly I love Naval, it's a nice relaxing change from my usual top tier air Sim chaos of MFD screens, BVR dodging, RWR yelling at me and trying to stop my pilot going for nap time while putting wayyy too many G's through whatever airframe I pick 😂

The Moffett sank you with 5" SP because the way naval tallying works is the last weapon from the enemy that sinks you to damage you is credited with being the killing blow. What actually happened is his torpedoes detonated your magazine but before you fully went up he landed one last salvo of 5" shells

⁠@@henrysmith4907demonstrably untrue, go look up about the Japanese battleship the that was night hunting and came upon by 2 American destroyers. It was called the “hei” I think and was in guadal canal. At times they were less than like 50m away from each others and getting so close to the ship is what took away the Japanese battleships big guns. It physically couldn’t aim on the Americans and they were able to batter it. There is plenty of footage of planes flying into naval formations and the skies plastered with AA. If you pin all this up, you could certainly say war thunder at times does reflect realistic events that have happened. Is war thunder realistic, no, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Sometimes certain parts in war thunder battles play out just like reality could.

While a lot isn't realistic about it shells fired at longer ranges do take a while to land. That being said I think the large portions if crew that can't see the enemy ship, let alone any shells being fired have it much worse. They just have to keep doing their job and hope for the best.

Blame Gaijin, they've made it the hardest part of the game to get into. The maps and spawns are generally bad, you can die within 30 seconds of spawning either from the enemy or crashing into your teammates, and the BR's are so compressed that a full uptier means getting absolutely dumpstered by vastly superior ships even at reserve tier. It can be really fun, but "Gee, I wonder why hardly anyone plays naval?" is a question I often sarcastically ask myself anytime I play naval.

Gaijin likes to do this, more than a little annoyingly so. Perfect example is the Baltimore, which came as an event ship more than a year before we got a ship of the same class in the tech tree.

1:14 I'll never get over the Kronshtadt with it's Magikal Sekrit Dokument Shells that outperform the *Hood's* 15in AP shells. That are lighter than the Alaska's 12in shells, but with more pen and more TNT equivalent. From guns that, as far as I know, never even existed?

The Mississippi was one of the easiest event vehicle to earn. 40k mission points. But naval has a 2.2 modifier. 18182 total with 2 days to get. 9091 per day. or about 4 missions per day. Just doing my daily/special tasks I got the Mississippi.

They have an internal timer that makes sure that doesn't happen. It's the reason you see your 20mms self detonate after a distance

Next battleships for the US tree should be the Colorado class, probably one of the best looking ships along with the Hood. Clipper bow with 4x 16in 45cal Mk5 guns, was a beautiful interwar ship with a lot of firepower. I figure that since the US had so many upgrades and variants of the same class of ship or even single ship itself, the tech tree ship will be prewar and the premium/event will be late war, just because. Unlike most ships from other navies, save the Royal Navy, the US ships went from cage mast, to tripod mast to radar centered superstructures. Even the Mississippi lived long enough to be converted into a hybrid guided missile/gun battleship test platform.

Idk if this is just gaijin's overmatch mechanic but huge naval AP rounds overmatch even super thick composite that normally have protection levels exceeding the pen of that type of ammo. It almost seems like ships, tanks, and planes were meant to all play together at some point. Was in a custom and a 14 inch AP round blazed right thru my T-90M's UFP. I really hope some day we can have official full combined arms matches, especially on maps with coastline.
