HESH slinging m728 CEV gameplay, War Thunder.
Today we're back to War Thunder. I'll be playing with recently added (Apex Predators update) m728 CEV at the American tech tree.
It's basically M60 with low velocity 165mm gun, that uses massive HESH rounds with 22kg of TNT. M728 CEV is almost exactly the same as British Centurion AVRE, same battle rating, similar performance.
The vehicle is fun, but HESH performance lately is something else...

aim at turrets or undearneath the tank that when it explodes the explosion can go through weak roof/floor armour

From the shown gameplay it’s mainly the spaced armor/tracks that keep mitigating the damage of the hesh (since spaced armor is doing its job, also gaijin’s weird HE physics), so yeah, pretty much a skill issue

@@DOLLARplays yeah I had a thought that the Churchill's flame thrower should burn them off. However, the Churchill would never get close enough to bush campers hahahaha and since the issue with bushes is that it makes people near invisible, you tend to die to them without ever shooting at them, so them being destructible wouldn't change much.

In real life, a direct hit by the equivalent of 22 kilos of TNT would not leave the crew of a Tiger II in fighting-capable condition. It doesn't matter how much armor you have when you're getting bounced around inside your tank like dice in a cup.

Gotta love how in reality HESH is so good it invalidates non-composite armor entirely. Yet in game its just an RNJudas round that sometimes, maybe, will destroy the lightest of vehicles.

I think the camera angle on the tank (like 45 degrees from behind & above) automatically makes your gun face more down (when idle) than you'd wish for when you aim. So everytime you find an enemy tank, you still have a second of aiming up and clutch shots will hit the tracks more often because of that. That also caused you your "gun is stuck" moments. Maybe the camera angle can be adjusted to be more in line with your tanks horizontal positioning?

BTW, they got the model wrong, the search light is mounted, but the interrupt bar isn't raised to prevent the M85 from shooting holes in it. Look right in front of the commander's coupolla, that odd rectangular shaped bar. When using the light, you have to raise that bar into the upright position, install the retaining pin to keep the bar in place, the bar limits the M85's range of traverse and elevation to protect the light. But in the 3d model, the interrupt bar isn't in place. Also, the crew has to remove the headlights before firing the main gun or the vacuum will tear them off their mounts.

You can download a custom sight for it that turns it into like a 88 cm gun sight.Upto 3 km fits into a very small space. Much easier and much faster to aim. It's only the speed (or the lack thereof) that you have to adjust to when shooting.

Fun fact: you can turn 180 degress and bulldoze yourself a perfect ramp for extra depression. Super useful for soviet vehicles, which also conveniently pack dozer blades for a lot of tanks. Preps take time though and during the dig, you are exposed, so watch yourself out there.

Only way to effectively one shot is side-front-rear turret and splash down on hull....very precise work. Also your bino shots 100% better now. Great vid as always. Hope you are well.
