Mattel is so annoying. If they were to make the holiday dolls like $25, one of abbey, and with clothes that aren't bad, i think theyd get more sales. And why isnt there a cupid valentines doll?? So many people would buy that. I hope they do it next February.

Those dolls should be 25 max imo because they dont seem like they have any more quality and pieces than the average G3 doll. In fact I think G3 spectra is cooler than the midnight runway G1 spectra.

Honestly the garden tea party Venus is a good example of my argument from when g3 was newer which was that g3 was kind of half a$$ing representation most of the time, don’t get me wrong g3 has amazing representation honestly better than most doll lines but sometimes it feels like Mattel is too afraid to fully commit to it especially when it came to textured hair cause as you said Venus was one of if not the only doll with textured hair and to see them go behind our backs and straighten her hair is straight up wrong, if they gave her an Afro or gave her any other textured style I wouldn’t complain as much

I’m really sad because I saw the holiday Barbie in store and really loved her, I haven’t liked a Barbie holiday doll since I started collecting and was so excited to get her, but I won’t because I do not want to support AI generated box art.

So I think the best thing I can say about the Nefra/Cleo twin pack is I love the trend in the "deluxe" (and I can't put enough quotes around that) dolls is that I love that they keep including references to the pets in the headpieces. I'm glad I'm not the only person who dislikes what they did to Venus' hair in Skulltimate Secrets; as well as not being the only one who isn't a fan of Ariana as a person (I like her music but I would never want merch of her).

I love The wizard of Oz, I watched the movie and read the books as a kid. I’ve never seen wicked but I’ve been interested in it. I’d rather see the actual musical before the movie though. And I agree, I do not want the dolls because they are celebrities. I don’t know anything about the people they’re supposed to look like so I feel weird collecting and displaying dolls made in their likeness. (It’s a similar reason to why I don’t want the Taylor Swift Tween, I’m a certified hater)

I loved the 90s Addams Family movies. I wish they made dolls based on that. I haven't bought any of them. The "Thing" hand is cute but the doll is too expensive in Australia.

The only ones you mentioned that I would like to get at this point are, The Series 5 Twyla; I think she is adorable; the Howliday Cleo and possibly some of the Elphaba Wicked dolls; Maybe... the Mummy Majesty dolls, but I'm not sure. Even though their outfits do scream G2, Cleo is really cute. I can respect that you don't like certain dolls as we all don't, and certain individuals. I don't really know anything about Arianna, so I can't speak to that. I will say that I have certain actors that I don't like, and wouldn't want their likenesses in my home either.

There are generic wicked dolls that released when the musical was big. They don’t have an actress likeness. I’m not sure what they go for on the secondhand market though.

I purchased this years holiday Barbie Teresa, because she has the old Teresa face mold. The red head has a pretty face too. I got the tall pixling with the darker colored dress. I do like her, but I feel like there is more character and detail in the designs of the smaller dolls.

So I actually broke down and got the holiday Millie sculpt even though I didn't want her which is funny because I actually got the 65th anniversary Millie version as well even though I said I wasn't going to get her, I did get Enid but was trying to get Wednesday too, they were $40 a piece for the budget dolls and $65 for the deluxe doll, i may get the new skelita doll because i do celebrate dia de muertos and i got last year's doll and Barbie as well, the box is identical to the last one, Cleo is a maybe if shes on clearance

I just watch these videos for fun (don't collect dolls) but I have the pajamas Bratz Jade doll from when i was a kid and the accessories esp the dino are soo cute. However it was hard to like do anything with her bc she only had fuzzy slippers so i couldn't dress her in regular clothes

Yeah I think they did poly for Venus is because the twist they use for Venus and brooklynn are actually “expensive” for them they say which is why only collector Brooklyn Barbie has it and not the other Brooklyn’s

I love the show Wednesday. I don’t want the the dolls. I don’t like celebrity dolls. Abby should have had winter holiday doll. I will get that Twyla doll. Just because it’s her. I don’t mind the hair texture. I have Twyla in the neon frights. I’m so excited for the garden secrets.

I loved Wednesday and celebrity dolls but they don't feel like celebrity dolls even, just replicas made on Monster High bodies. I think I would've really liked them if they weren't Monster High and the formal dress wasn't sheer

I don't even hate the Cleo and Nefera two pack but the price for what these are is a haaaaard no. They do feel very playline and trying to charge collector prices for them is ridiculous. I do plan to get the SS Venus but I will be rerooting her (she has some micro braids but not many and the rest is the straight polypropylene.) I don't like every outfit piece but there are enough pieces here that I really do like and can absolutely work with. A lot of dolls rn are in the, "only if I find it on a good sale" category.

I don’t understand why monster high collectors are so hung up on Venus losing her braids. Why can’t she rock different styles of hair? I think her new release is gorg

For me it would be less of an issue if other characters had different hair textures. Venus was the only doll to have a full head of textured hair in a protective style so to take that away from her feels like removing representation. If Clawdeen had some releases with braids or very curly (like 4a) hair, or if Catty had come with full braids, it would feel more like Venus just choosing a different style but because that isn’t the case, having the character with the most Afro centric hair lose that in her design has a bigger impact in terms of showing off different types of people, hair, and beauty

I hate SS5 too. I will probably get Drac because I like the red. Pink is my favourite colour but Ive been wanting to see red tones on Drac because its a vampiric colour. I wish Venus had hair puffs like JH Krystal. Or curly like Honey Swamp.

I haven't watched the Wednesday show or any of the Addams Family shows, but they have been around often and long enough that I generally know the characters. I think the Wednesday doll is very pretty, and I have picked up the one in the school uniform. I wouldn't pay full price for the one in the dress. As for the other show-based dolls, I haven't seen Wicked, but the dolls don't look good enough for me to buy. The Wednesday dolls seem closer to collector,-level, while the Wicked dolls are somewhat overpriced play line.

If I wasn’t way too obsessed with Wednesday and the Addams Family, I wouldn’t have bought the dolls as they are more than they should be. It seems like most of MH G1’s collector dolls aren’t done well apart from a few and I don’t understand why when they obviously can make them really good when they want to (Draculaura for instance). I really do not understand Mattel/MH and their choices! I usually like the G3 Twyla dolls (and yes I love the Neon Frights Twyla doll too), but I don’t think the Skulltimate Secrets 5 Twyla looks as good but maybe she’ll look better in person than the stock image. Poor Skulltimate Secrets Venus, totally agree with you 😢 I really don’t understand why Magic Mixlings decided to release larger dolls with even larger boxes for $60 since they were never that much and I don’t think parents would spend that much on her. Oh I really like the rainbow one, though 😄 I didn’t realize AI made the background of the holiday Barbie, yikes 😳 I’m trying to look as the Glinda dolls as just the character and not the actual person but I’m still debating on Glinda though I’ll definitely be getting Elphaba.

if mattel traded in the poly hair for saran and ditched the clunky plastic lockers, i’m betting skulltimate secrets would sell so much better 😩 i know in the first series, cleo had saran hair and i think also lagoona? i only bought cleo, so i know she at least has saran. but yeah, the rest are poly and it’s such a shame 😔 i’m still gonna buy twyla because i love her so much, probably will wait for the others to be on sale because i like them a lot but would rather not pay $30 apiece for them. 🫤 i completely agree with you about venus getting such a hair downgrade, it’s beyond disappointing. i haven’t watched wednesday but i bought the core wednesday doll because i adore jenna ortega and the character of wednesday addams in general. but they really are too expensive. i bought the kitty k tween and i have mixed feelings about her. wrist articulation is back but there’s no stand. many of her pieces are recolors from previous dolls. her skirt’s material feels VERY cheap. and while i like an all-pink look with multiple shades, a lot of hers don’t mesh well together. i’ve restyled her a bit to where i like her more but i kinda wish i’d waited until she was on sale and more like $15 than $20. i appreciate hearing your opinions btw, these videos are super fun!

Monster High doll choices are so annoying to me because you’re putting your winter characters in summer lines, your summer characters in winter lines, your black characters in styles that aren’t influenced by anything black, your poc characters are almost only ever treated as cultural collector dolls, etc etc. and then wonder why they aren’t selling well compared to characters like Draculaura that get to show up in any collection from a to z… Maybe treat everyone as a main character instead of accessories to fill out a doll roster/store shelf ?

I'm getting the Wednesday doll & fashion pack, cause the fashion pack dresses the doll like her iconic look in the Addams family show & movies from the past, which im a big fan of. I did watch the Netflix show & it was OK, but not a huge fan. You're not missing much.

Ive got one of the cup of style dolls! I think they're all super cute. I got the pumpkin one (though i also really wanted the wasabi one). two things about it- the unboxing gimmick is kinda wonky? ofc it includes water but like the clothing isnt in plastic so it gets wet when you do it and i worry some colors could stain the fabric? also the little phone pieces i can see so EASILY going down the drain. And their hair STINKS at first. its got a plasticy chemical smell to it. but its super fun to fidget with. if i played with her now she wouldn't like reek like it was out of the packaging but ig don't sniff the hair to close LOL

I really like Drac and Venus from that new wave I haven't bought much of Skulltimate Secrets since Neon Frights and even then I bought Drac on a great sale and Toralei too. Luckily Venus in this new wave would be an easy reroot for me with curly/textured hair, I was disappointed about her hair immediately being straight in this wave too. I will be cutting that off immediately. it's so weird to me that we started off with 3 of the ghouls having saran in the Skulltimate Secrets Wave 1 to having basically none for the rest of the lines. $30 EACH and poor international collectors pay twice that!
