It sure looks like Wendy Holcombe at 5:52. If it was and it was 1978 then she would have been 15 years old.

Maybe if we had more good comedians there would be less depression these days. I loved the way Carol would catch me off guard with something that would crack me up. No leading up to it, no expectation.... No "f" word. No profanity. Just plain funny! BTW, since they included part of the Orange Blossom Special, gotta include my favorite version ever - Johnny Cash playing 2 harmonicas! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpnWZp1tfbNrra8

Nice that Carol is a fellow Texan. Got a star on our walk of fame in Austin.
@byronp23114 жыл бұрын
@Dion St. Michael Well, you can ALWAYS say that Texas is full of it and not be wrong.

I read somewhere that she based Eunice's accent on her mom's.
@byronp23114 жыл бұрын
@@dontaylor7315 That would certainly make sense.
@dontaylor73154 жыл бұрын
@@byronp2311 yeah the first few Eunice skits I saw back in the day I even assumed the setting was in Texas just because of the accent. I had a West Texas mama and an East Texas daddy ( 2 different accents) and I grew up on the South Texas border (yet another accent). In Austin where I live now all roads converge so you can hear every dialect and regional speech.
@byronp23114 жыл бұрын
@@dontaylor7315 While I grew up in Tulsa, I actually had your basic mid-western accent because I was addicted to TV and that was standard. Been in Austin since '72 and suspect I've developed some sort of Texas accent by this point.

John w I wonder if he still has it! Here’s an article about little Lewis - Lewis Phillips -- as a successful bluegrass musician today. twestival.fm/lewis-phillips-bluegrass/ In fact, you can see some clips of the adult Lewis here on KZbin. So again, when this pandemic lockdown is over (hopefully soon!), time for a reunion of those three!

I wonder if it was really Lewis' banjo to begin with and Carol was just borrowing it for the skit.

Oh, the days when showbiz people were real performers and not just actors and actresses who can barely act. They can't sing, dance, do comedy they just stand in one spot and say their lines. The variety shows of early TV are on YT now. Thank goodness. I recently watched one of Dean Martin Roasting of Jackie Gleason, there was more talent in that room than there is on one TV show these days.

Remember the variety/sketch comedy show ‘Hee Haw!’??? Oh man we loved that show, it was absolutely chock full of talent! And the Lawrence Welk show on PBS Sunday nights!🤩🤩🤩 The good old days of tv programming.
