Asante sana. I lived in Kile from 2012-15 Laikipia Gardens on Oloitoktok, not far from Valley Arcade. My wife is from there. I don't recognise many of the buildings but the infrastructure is well kept up. It was already good back then but the traffic looks much denser now. We'll leave Europe and retire in a couple of years in Ruiru which is better suited for us older folks. 😅

I started primary school in Nairobi - down by the airport in the 1950s. We lived in Kenton Camp - the married quarters. Looks like that has gone and this modern suburb has evolved. A sign of Kenya's growth. But the old corn fields are gone. Nice to see the river still passes by - we used to play in that.

No wonder the sewerage system & the water company cannot serve this estate adequately....... Because the area population has grown exponentially but the services provided have not changed with the times.

Ooh my God! Kileleshuwa has really changed! What?! I lived all my teen ages and my 20's in Kileleshuwa ( Othaya Road) and then Kilimani near Yaya Shopping Centre (at Chania Apartments). However, I can not recognise Kileleshuwa at all. Except the Police Station and some part of Othaya Street. Ooooh..... It looks a concretes jungle , lost its serenity and specious Family homes with private gardens and swimming pools. It is sad.
@LarryNgetich Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's really changed as a whole from Riara Road all the way to Riverside. I'm also born and raised until my 20s when I left for Rongai, and when I go back I always wonder where kids play

Nice video, but having so many tall buildings and single lane roads, congested compouds is evidence of failed planning. Emergencies are almost impossible to sort out in such an area
@philiponkui8650 Жыл бұрын
am just worried of our narrow roads.
@dolphine254 Жыл бұрын
I believe something will be done
@askuri_ Жыл бұрын
The problem is not narrow roads, it's too many private cars. Nairobi needs to focus on improving public transport. Especially we need bus lanes, so busses don't get stuck in traffic. If the busses are safe additionally, more people will take the bus, which is much more efficient and less polluting. "A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich use public transportation."
