This was the year right before the infamous game against the Jaguars. Crazy that the Dolphins were outscored 100-10 in Marino’s last two playoff losses

What game? Are you talking about the game in 96?
@ghygt3968 ай бұрын
@@Vjl5280 no. I was talking about the Dolphins 62-7 loss to Jacksonville in the playoffs in 1999, the following season

Even though they were technically cheaters haha but as a Patriots fan at least you were doing what other teams were doing too, ya just got caught...years later... conspiracy? I think so!!! I was rooting for them in both SBs though

The zenith of the 1998 Broncos was right here. This was the best game from one of the 10 greatest teams in history.

The '98 Broncos are highly underrated in the conversation of all time great teams. Only 2 losses all season - one that they avenged throughly in this playoff game.

It's truly a rare thing to see the LOSING team take a knee to end the game. Even if the game is long decided, they almost always keep passing and running until the clock expires.

The last postseason meeting that featured two starting quarterbacks from the famed Class Of '83.

What a luxury it was for Elway to have all those weapons during the latter portion of his career. It was the talent he deserved all along.

Such an all time great and Marino just never had things line up for him. He's clearly aged less well than Elway, which is ironic considering that Elway was the runner.

Marino and Jimmy Johnson were outscored 100-10 in there last 2 playoff losses in 99 and 2000...yikes

Don Shula and Jimmy Johnson, two very storied NFL coaches with four Super Bowl titles between them, never won a ring with Dan Marino as their starting quarterback. Makes us wonder if Marino was more of a problem than we thought.

@@spinner9057 That's a fair question - however I'd be hard-pressed to name a Dolphins team from 1987-1999 that was actually good enough to get to and win a Super Bowl.

@@spinner9057 That’s actually a fascinating question. When I first saw this comment, I was quick to say no not at all, Dan Marino was the biggest reason why they even had a chance to compete for a Super Bowl etc. but giving it some extra thought, I’m not totally sure. I think it was just one of those things where you had an all-world quarterback who gave you the impression that he could just throw you to a super bowl, even if they didn’t have a good enough run game or defense, to do there part. Also you have to take into account that when you have a pass first offense, that’s great when your playing in Miami or September type whether, but when your playing in December, January whether, chances are, it’s gonna be a lot colder, perhaps rain, perhaps snow type conditions that are the polar opposite of ideal for pass first offenses. When you look at Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, and John Elway once they got Terrell Davis, they had more balanced attacks. The offenses that they were in didn’t just rely, at least for the most part, on there throwing ability. They were able to win Super Bowls because they had complete teams, offensively and defensively.

@@walterlv01 1990, 1992, 1993 if Marino doesn’t tear his ACL and 1994 were years where the Dolphins were legit and could’ve won the super bowl. I would also say 91 but that team was riddled by injuries. It’s a shame Shula got ran out of town by Dolphins fans. Those teams I mentioned can very easily beat the 97-02 teams cause honestly as Dolphins fan I don’t think those late 90’s early 00’s we’re good in my opinion. Oh by the way the only reason why Jimmy Johnson had all that success with the Cowgirls is because he traded his best player. This is also the game where he quit on the team and came back and he quit again after being humiliated by the Jags!!!
