*Solid, **Fastly.Cool** and gets the job done. For rooms where window-mounted air conditioning is not an option, this works very well. Easy set up, rapid cooling, and great design.*

Thank you for posting! I have a 2004 camper and the A/C started acting up. I saw this, it sounded like the issue may be the thermostat. I just put the new one in and it's working! I will see if the new thermostat fixed the issue. BTW, I'm a 60 year-old Grandmom and your video was spot on! Only recommendation I have is to make sure all the buttons on the new thermostat are off before you start.

This video was extremely helpful. I'm not especially handy, but was able to replace the thermostat in our camper based on watching this video. Thanks

Thank you for not upgrading, that made this video usable!

Thank you. Glad you didn’t upgrade your thermostat, so this showed me exactly what to do. Thanks again.

In the middle of our last camping trip, we started having an issue with the A/C. Its runs great, but won’t shut off until the thermostat is slide all the way up past the 85 degree mark. Hope replacing this will fix the issue. Great video!

Did this fix the issue? I’m having the same issue

Thanks for posting this. I think my thermostat in my trailer has the same issue. It works fine when the fan is in the “on” position but doesn’t restart in the “auto” position. I received the new thermostat today and can’t wait to get back to my trailer to install it.

Update: I finally got the new thermostat installed and it fixed my problem. The A/C in my trailer works as it should when set to AUTO. As it was unseasonably cool here this week, I was able to try it on both the A/C and HEAT!

if i have no fan , will it run with out turning the a/c on? trying to determine if the switch is bad or the capacitor.
@2manytoyz1232 жыл бұрын
With the disclaimer that there’s danger involved… yes. If the capacitor is bad (very common), and the switch OFF, the motor can be spun by hand (in the correct direction), THEN the fan switch can be turned on. The fan should then spin up to full speed and stay running until it is shut off. I’ve never had a bad switch, but I’ve replaced several capacitors. I carry a spare one in our RV. Watch your fingers, good luck!

@@2manytoyz123 if i have the unit turned on, the fan should run, correct. if it does not it has a bad capacitor How do i know when i have a bad switch?
@2manytoyz1232 жыл бұрын
@@doncoons6761 Time to use a DVM to check the switch. You can unplug the switch, and check continuity on the terminals, or check for voltage at the fan when the switch is on. A good meter also has the ability to test a capacitor, with the wires removed. This is the one I use: amzn.to/3y9VDbN

Thanks 👍 for the video. I have the same issue.
@doncoons67612 жыл бұрын
Sorry, how did you determine the switch was bad?
@2manytoyz1232 жыл бұрын
With the thermostat removed, I tested the switch with a meter. The switch has three contacts on the underside of the board. With the switch in the up position, the middle and top contact should short (zero ohms). With the switch in the down position, the middle and bottom contact should short. This type of slide switch has a high failure rate, which is why they aren’t used on expensive equipment.

Question please: How do I turn the power off to the camper before I start, power cord outside, breaker box, do I need to remove the battery cables as well?
@markmesi2094 Жыл бұрын
unplug the RV from the main power source and disconnect the battery

Did you turn any power off to switch this?

Yes, unplug the RV from shore power, and disconnect the battery.

Why didn't you upgrade to a Honeywell
@2manytoyz1235 жыл бұрын
The previous model worked well until the selector switch wore out. I was also about to sell the trailer, so no desire to put anything fancier $$ in it.

Cannot see it all what you're doing
@2manytoyz1232 жыл бұрын
Just loosen the screws holding the wires, and pull them free. Just do the reverse on the new thermostat. At 1:10, there's a still shot showing the color coding of what wire goes where.

LOL, I have gorilla hands! Did you try backing out the screws? The wire terminals might have been already tightened.
