After watching this video I realized the camper that my girlfriend bought was missing the dc positive and negative coming out of the ceiling which is why it wasn’t working. I ended up running it from a light switch by the thermostat and running it to the top of the ac unit for my power. It’s kind of redneck but it works! Thank you so much it saved me a lot of time. I spent all night wondering if I was missing something and why it wasn’t working the people she bought it from screwed up all the wiring

Question: the box I received has the same male wire pins as the wire connector coming from the AC harness. Also, there's only 5 wires in the connector in the box, and 6 in the AC harness....I also noticed the wires don't correspond to the harness, so I'll need to rewire either the box or the AC harness... It appears the solid yellow comm wire is missing from the box harness.... Have you seen this before? I did confirm "according to Amazon" the kit was compatible with my AC...

great info. Im getting ready to tackle this job tomorrow. Mine is a little different so Im taking it slow. I have an older duo therm penguin from 2002 on my Lance truck camper. The control box is not removeable. This is the low profile version with a heat strip. So I guess room was an issue because the control board is mounted next to the capacitors on top. Just not as plug and play as all the videos I've seen. Without this wiring info though no doubt it would take me much longer. Im updating because the thermostat was acting up on my last camping trip. So I figured it was time to get the analog one out. Otherwise this old penguin works great.

Great video... We have a 05 winnebago horizon 40KD and we are pulling the old basement AC out and replacing with 2 dometic rooftop units. The previous furnace wires are hooked up to the old thermostats, but the 2 blue wires are used in conjuction with the 12v- and 12v+ that run to each furnace, for the new units will it matter which wires are hooked up? I was planning on just using the same wires that ran to the thermostats before... or does it HAVE to be one of the 2 blue wires?

Can you help out again. My 1994 hunting trailer was hit by lightning. Not work be the microwave and refrigerator. I have got everything back working but the furnace I had to replace boards in everything. I put the new Digital board in my AC and I have re placed the board in my furnace but I’m not getting 12v at the furnace. My question is there any voltage that comes out of the two thermostat wires for the furnace out of the Digital AC box? I should get 12v DC at the relay on my 1994 Hydro flame furnace or/ & 10amp breaker on the furnace? I don’t think anything is coming out of my Digital AC box?
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 2 жыл бұрын
12 volt DC for furnace comes from the coach. Down at the furnace you will have a red, yellow and 2 blue wires. Red pos yellow neg and blues are T-stat. one of the T-stats wires might have power on it, but that is not the main power source for the furnace.

I installed my new control box this spring and the ac side works great!! However I think Camping World sold me the wrong control box. Mine doesn't have the 2 spade connectors for the furnace on it. I've got the 2 blue wires coming out of the new box wire nutted to the 2 wires for the furnace, but my furnace won't turn on. My new box has another hookup for what looks like a heat strip. My trailer doesn't have that. Is there anyways to get the furnace to work? I'm in Indiana and the fall weather and it's getting down into the low 50s at night.
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know what they sold you. No spades for the furnace wires? 2 blue wires coming out of the control box? If you touch the furnace t stat wires together, furnace should run. If it runs then you have a control problem. If not, problem is in the furnace. Don't forget there is a delay, so you have to hold the wires together for several seconds.

I replaced my Honeywell thermostat in the summer and now it's winter and the heat does not come on. The last thermostat had a toggle switch, remotely mounted, that went to the green and white wire to the G terminal on the thermostat. Also the W terminal on the old thermostat had another black wire attached to it. I have pics to show how it was hooked up. The AC has worked but I now have no furnace. Any thoughts, it's getting cooooooldd!!!

I keep telling people that I have never seen a household thermostat work on an RV HVAC system. Every time I say that, people say "I have one on my RV and it works great". I believe you have another example of how well that works. That's my 2 cents worth. My recommendation is, switch it all back to RV controls and t-stat and be done.

In order to use this control box, you need ALL the wires I discuss in this video. If you are missing wires, then you will have to run your own.

That wont work. You just need a simple 2 wire thermostat from Lowes or Home Depot. if the only thing you are running off of it is a furnace.

I have a Class A Fleetwood with two Dometic AC/Heat pump units. One went bad and they are both 15 years old so I decided to replace both. I know I can handle switching these with the same unit but what if I want to go with Coleman since I'll get 200BTU more from each. Can I switch these and use the same digital thermostat? Any advise/help?

You can, but if you have 12 dc +, you should have a 12 dc ground too. Probably best to use that if you have one.

That was a very good information video! I do have a question, My AC doesn't run because the thermostat shows E1 or communication error. Would you kind enough to share me how to fix this. I have Dometic DuoTherm 3313107.076 OEM S/Z Air Conditioner Control Board C/F with Dometic single zone thermostat. I change the wiring from thermostat to the control board (replacing those telephone wires) still shows E1. If you could help me on this I highly appreciate.

If your camper was wired for a Dometic AC with a wall thermostat, then it will have all the wires you need. If not, then you will have to run your own wires.

I'm lost so bare with me. We have a class c with single ac unit. My dometic t stat had an E4 error. Using google I found this to be an out door temp sensor. I also found that my unit doesn't have an out door temp sensor. My t stat has a phone cable 4 conductors and an RJ-11 Jack. Also my control box is on the roof. I've opened it up and there are no real part numbers on the controller to speak of. I thought I could simply buy a new digital t stat with the RJ-11 jack and be good to go. However the new t stat had no display or led activity. Any tips for this ? I believe I need a new controller just not exactly sure which I should get ?
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 2 жыл бұрын
If the control board is a genuine Dometic, it has a part number on it. Are you sure it doesn't have an ambient temp sensor? It just screws on the AC pan up top and it will have pinkish red wire.

For some reason my 20 amp breaker pops for the new ac hooked up to my old relay board with lux thermostat. Doesn’t show communication terminal like the micro air or the dometic thermostat you installed on the videos for the new control board so I’m either going to try to replace the circuit board or change relays and hopefully keep my thermostat if I can get the wiring figured out, is there anything else that could possibly make the ac trip to 20amp120v breaker? I have absolutely nothing else even plugged in or running in my Rv! Have my electrician Freind coming out today to help me check it out. Thank you so much for any advice, idk where I’d be without your videos thank you a lot

Hey again. I posted a question/issue earlier today but did it as a reply on someone else's post. I think you responded but I can't find that person's post -- and I didn't get an email about it. Regardless, after drawing 3 diagrams (pigtail to new Dometic B59516.xx1 AC, wires from heater/12VAC, and 6-wire mess from new LCD SZ thermostat) and matching up 12+ with 12+, t-stat with t-stat, etc, I now have functioning AC!!!! Love the video too -- exact same stuff that I have -- only I got stumped with 12VAC coming from the heater so I got out the heater installation papers and studied the wiring diagram. AC!!!! Whoop!! Thanks! Oh, if you did reply to my other questions, would it be too much to ask if you would please copy and paste it here? Thanks again! Sign me Cooling Off in 102° Heat in Texas!

Hey brother. I've changed from a Coleman to a dometic.....I had to buy a control box and t Stat. My control box is different from yours..... it has the 6 pin plug... and 6 wires about 6 inches long coming from the box..... for the furnace and 12v power. It also has 2 ports that look like a phone jack. My question is where do I tie the communication into? Thanks
