Yes, I didn’t see any adjustments on Canelo I’m a canelo fan but also I like bivol he’s a good calm person and good personality and just was defending what is he’s like bivol said he’s defending he’s belt. Canelo should just had stayed at 168 tops and just would have fought benavides or charlo and would have stopped all the ducking trash talk. But he wanted to challenge him self because we spars heavyweights but it’s not same from sparring to a boxing fight . Sorry but canelo was a little disappointing

Oscar spits facts. I was also surprised Canelo didn't adjust. I remember when Canelo was actually BOXING, when he fought Jacobs, GGG. Then he switched to that pressure style with no jabs and pure power shots (and for me became boring), and seems to have forgot the fundamentals. He used to box beautifully with lots of counters and jabs.

Exactly , Bivol pretty much dominated and squeaked out the decision. 🤔. Much respect to Canelo though. My favorite fighter of all time is Roy Jones Jr. & he seeked greatness, he challenged himself, knowingly tested his limits. A rare breed. Pacquiao a very close second of all time favorite for me whom also tested his limits. Canelo and his team had to know that this would be a huge challenge. He fought till the end and didn’t get knocked out. Mad props, I don’t feel the loss hurts his stock. I also feel the corrupt judges isn’t his fault as well. Had he tried to get the win that way he would have thrown a lot more scoring shots and combos and way less power shots but he went for the kill. He gave everything he had and left it all in the ring with the only chance he had to win, he never gave up & I can’t say enough, very much respect to Canelo.

No one seems to explain what really went wrong for Canelo. In Canelo-GGG I and II, GGG was willingly a come foward fighter who gave Canelo the kind of fight that he wanted, where most of the fighting was done at middle distance and neither fighter is really sought to ever keep the other fighter at range. In contrast, in Canelo-Bivol, Bivol was always trying to keep the fight just out of Canelo's range by spamming him with the jab and countering him when he turned with the 1-2. Bivol never seeks to bring the fighter closer even when it seems like he might be able to effectively. The problem for Canelo is not weight, but size (as obviously heavier fighters are generally taller and have more reach, obviously right). The only solution for Canelo is to arrange the rematch to be fought in 18 foot by 18 foot inner ring (not a 22 foot by 22 foot) so that when Canelo does manage to get inside and land some body shots and uppercuts, etc. he will be able to keep Bivol in those situations for longer periods of time. If Canelo fights Bivol in a smaller ring, then Bivol will have less space to re-establish distance away from Canelo and less also less space to pivot towards the center of the ring. For those that think arranging to fight in a smaller ring would be a cheap way for Canelo to negate Bivol's advantage with distance, you have to consider that great boxing matches of the past, including Ali vs. Foreman were fought in much smaller rings (Ali vs. Foreman was fought in a 16 foot by 16 foot ring. In contrast, Mayweather demanded that his fights be fought in 24' by 24' rings so he would have plenty of space to avoid engaging his opponents after getting in his potshots.) Also Leonard vs Hearns was fought in a 20' x 20' ring, whereas ALMOST all major boxing matches today are fought in 22' x 22' rings or 24' x 24'. In general, boxing matches were more exiting in the past because the ring sizes used in the past were generally smaller (generally, not always).

Stop trying to rationalize canelo loss. He was thoroughly outboxed by the superior more skilled boxer. Inside and outside. The thing canelo underestimated was bivols speed and his durability. He thought he could power his opponents like he always did. Bivol has a great chin and his conditioning was on point. Dmitry bivol has taken shots from heavy hitters in his division and wasn't phased there was nothing canelo could throw that would hurt bivol. Canelo has alreadh fought at 175 so there is no excuse he just gassed out from the work rate bivol was applying on him and from throwing power shots that had no effect. If they rematch bivol stops canelo. Bivol was conservative with his power in this match bc of his discipline and also cautious of canelos timing and counters now that he has already felt canelos power he's going to take canelo out by pressing the action and go for the kill.

People don’t know about boxing but they want to comment, Canelo won the first 4 rounds then he gas out, that’s when Bivol start winning rounds, when a boxer puts too much weight on his body, the body needs more fuel because his body is bigger, it takes more energy to throw punches, Canelo connected clean uppercuts in the first half of the fight, canelos game plan was to knockout Bivol, but he gas out, How many clean power punches Bivol connect ? Canelo is used to opponents becoming hesitant to throw, because of his counterpunching power the problem is you can’t counterpunch a guy who’s not stood in the pocket and unloading!Bivol literally danced rings round Alvarez! As a boxing purist I love this kind of performance. Was a prime example of the art of Pugilism! the art of hitting and not getting hit!

Analyze, BIVOL has not shown its entire arsenal, imagine if it goes down to 168 and takes those 4 Titles from Canelo? It would not only take away the Titles but also the historical LEGACY of Canelo, what would you do? BIVOL vs. CANELO THE REVANCH!!
@johnsilver63162 жыл бұрын
If he goes down to 168, bivol ain’t winning. If he wants to keep that title, he needs to stick at 175. He performed well because that’s around his natural weight. By going down those powerful shots aren’t going to be as effective. I mean he couldn’t even managed to drop canelo for 12 rounds, at 168 canelo performs differently and without a doubt is going to dominate bivol.
@johnsilver63162 жыл бұрын
And let’s be honest, his legacy isn’t going anywhere, that’s not how that works. Every fighter leaves his mark, even if a better fight comes along down the road. What canelo has accomplished is what the majority of boxers dream of, that includes Floyd. Just like he had his time, canelo has had his, and it’s far from being over.
@neometalx92 жыл бұрын
bivol took it easy and still dominated canelo, maybe he really means to go to 168 because he knows he could take whatever canelo throws at him and also do better if needed.. but what bivol doesnt know, is how the weight will affect him, he never fought there, hope he doesn't take going to 168 lightly and lose to canelo.

Canelo strategic plan went wrong. He thought he could take Bivol by punches straight to hes arms, Bivols team noticed that. He didn't attack the body that's what canelo is known for plus he looked gas out..
@victormonroy332 жыл бұрын
Alot of things went wrong for Canelo this fight. 1. He was loading up on EVERY punch. They weren't really hurting Bivol, so he should have adjusted and changed the volume of his punches, as Oscar stated. That got his gassed quickly. 2. He was head hunting. Throwing alot of hooks and overhand rights. Forgot about the jab/jab to the body (he tried side body shots (occasionally). 3. Going on a new diet (vegan) during training camp might've not been a great idea. Who knows how (or if) that affected him. We also have to note Bivol has a great ring IQ and had an excellent game plan. If a rematch happens, either Canelo makes great adjustments and can win a decision againt Bivol or Bivol beats him ever worse.

Bivol executed his game plan. Keep him at range, keep your lead jab out, don’t let him settle inside, keep him frustrated with constant ring awareness and control. Yeah, I agree with you Juan. Eddy/Canelo’s team seem to only have one strategic formula - which includes a load of power punches, gradually wearing down the opponent so that they can lower their hands, and coming in aggressive in the later rounds. With Bivol, once that magic formula didn’t work, Canelo looked exhausted, frustrated, and defeated. Eddy and his team didn’t really have any advice or insight to provide for Canelo, from what I can see. It looked like they were just scolding him- but offered no real strategy or solutions. I don’t think Canelo will ever leave Eddy, because there’s intense loyalty there, and he basically grew up with him. However, I think Canelo could use an assistant coach - someone who can help him with a different boxing style and sharpen his adaptability.

Oscar always keeps it 100 everyone gives him stick for keeping it real, the real reason canelo was upset with him has nothing to do with money but everything to do with canelo not actually wanting to take the tuff fights in his natural weight class when they where offered to him, then DAZN gave canelo what he wanted, cinnamon really believed he could knock out ever European style fighter by banking on his power he has never utilised the jab in the ring and has horrible footwork, when Oscar told him he need something new, not a trainer that tells you to put your hands up and walk forward every fight no plan B or C for his fighters he’s just offers them clenbuterol and phentermine, then the mainstream boxing outlets Cover him and greatness 🤔 this was a cherry pick gone wrong for canelo he actually hasn’t learned that much since the Floyd fight he has always struggled against boxers
