Politics is like premier league football management. Is the pool of "talent" that shallow that they are forced to draw upon the same failures time and again? Cameron and now Cummings. The fact these appointments were even considered is a reason for Sunak to leave quickly, it shows a total absence of vision. Change candidate indeed...if they really had the best interest of the country at heart they would read the writing on the wall and realise the game is up. Funny really because isn't Cummings whole argument that politics needs opening up to wider talent? Someone like John Major is looking like a massive statesman in comparison to this recent Tory waste bin. A massive embarrassment for the country and it is depressing that the goverment can't see it.

The Conservatives will suffer a heavy defeat for 3 reasons: 1. They are supposed to be the ‘party of business’ yet have increased taxes on businesses. 2. A large minority of their voters were remainers who became alienated by the Brexit agenda and 6 wasted years of infighting as a result. This time would’ve been better spent implementing pro-growth policies. 3. The Nationalist red wall voters they gained in 2019 are a house of cards. They voted Tory due to a combination of Boris Johnson appealing to them and Jeremy Corbyn being so unappealing. They also expected Brexit (as promised by Johnson) to make their lives better which inevitably it did not. Nearly all those voters will revert to Labour and Reform in 2024. The Conservatives alienated their traditional voters and then went to alienate their new voters. They are going to lose in 2024 and will have to deliver a radical budget in March 2024 if they want to lose whilst avoiding electoral wipeout.
