Domino Falling? Cutting a Cedar Tree in a Domino Style

Why is it so common to leave so much wood on the stump? Where I’m from we cut damn near the dirt to save as much wood as possible. No disrespect just curious to know why.

These guys are working on steep terrain and need a few high stumps to keep the trees from going down the hill. Danger trees also require to be cut from standing position so you can run away quicker. For the most part they cut as close as they can.
