because he could still use the strings when they break close to the bridge.

He made his guitar bow! How cute ^^

Don't even mention death around this dude! You may trigger one of those "what's the worst that can happen"-type rifts in the universe and negatively affect this dude! LOL Don Ross is a awesome guitarist and composer!
@hereisSteve17 жыл бұрын
hi shadow! I think maybe you should also listen to Antoine Dufour, if you don't know him yet : ) he is also playing fingerstyle and what I like about these guys, that they are unique, and can not be compared to each other.
@PPWarrior16 жыл бұрын
Seriously, Antoine DuFour is MY favourite guitar player but Don Ross bring so much to the art of music he's like.... a GENIUS! I hope one day I'll be enough good at guitar to make a show in homage to all these great guitarist like Don, Antoine, Andy and ect...
@Hue_Nery17 жыл бұрын
No Doubt in my mind that he is the master of this style. I don't think anyone approaches his composition much less his technique for this particular style of playing.
@RaeZoladawn7773 жыл бұрын
genius umm well pretty darn close ......
@RaeZoladawn7773 жыл бұрын
I'm a junkie for Don Ross's playing he s awesome
@aFem0rg115 жыл бұрын
god i love his songs... it's so rythmic so that i feel like i know what he's goin to play in next minute even though i've never heard this song be4
@glasspipe7917 жыл бұрын
enough whining about who's better than who. everyone from candyrat records has their own unique style of playing. they all inspire each other.
@soonny00217 жыл бұрын
A true master. I am very happy for him. Only one who truly enjoys what he does can do it so well. :)
@TruestWeakling15 жыл бұрын
idk why i'm thinkin about this but....Don Ross is one of those talented people, who when they die, it's a huge loss to the community that that person is part of - in his case, the guitar world. He's freakin amazing!

@norhamdan1985 Hey, don't insult LARP. Don't know how it goes in your country, but here I wouldn't bully a LARPer, because there's a good chance to get my ass kicked. Some of them are training in fencing, knife fighting, something martial or just passed military service. Of course, there are always some nerds disgaricng the idea... Regardless, Dan Ross is just brilliant.
@Kailas10817 жыл бұрын
Hi calabazoom , I'm chilean too and I don't know any guitarrist over here who play this way ! Angel Parra ? or the always tiring flamenco stuff ?? No way ! Honestly don't try to compare "lo incomparable" . I've been following Don's career over the years and is more and more better . Thanks Dude for then Earmeal !
@yumpin14 жыл бұрын
i have never heard him say why, but firstly he changes strings a lot, so its a pain. secondly, when changing strings that often, you are bound to marr the finish eventually with the cutters touching the finish on the headstock, and thirdly, it gives him character!
@tycho_m15 жыл бұрын
There must have been a mixup, a guitar slap is when you break a guitar on a stranger's face. Isn't it? :)

Ross studied composition at the music department of York University in Toronto with David Mott, James Tenney and Phil Werren. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music in 1983, he studied philosophy[1] at St. Hyacinth College and Seminary in Granby
@PyroinHell15 жыл бұрын
not soon enough my friend. Musicians don't play music to be better than someone else...they become musicians to express themselves in their own style. When people realize that...then the whole thought of music will change drastically.
@whatsstandard13 жыл бұрын
the man has insane stage presence. you want to get up and jam right along with him!

It's "Never Got to Pernambuco". I'm pretty sure since Pernambuco is a state in Brazil. Awesome song.

brampton sounds familiar, somewhere in that region, maybe burlington or brantford, i cant really remember. halton, london, sorry i cant remember where exactly, but in that region south and west of the golden horseshoe.

Sorry bud but no one beats Don. NO ONE YA HEAR ME!!! LoL. I am biased though. Don Ross simply amazes me, he is my favorite. Andy is definately something else though. They both get 5 gold stars... but don gets a pudding too. LOL

@useruser1237 well thats what several people have told me... so i think so, but i could be wrong

@SonataArctica666615 жыл бұрын
why is drifting more popular than this song? this guy is definitely gods gift to the acoustic guitar, to quote a previous commenter. Andy McKee is amazing, this guy is still better.
@BallisticMystic15 жыл бұрын
lol, I habitually go on genre binges, and last night I was listening to drifting saw it was the 1st song on a playlist, hit play all and havn't listened to a tune out of candyrat since :P

HI Callaxes, on this video Don is playing is old Lowden 0-10. He let me tried it once when I take a lesson with him. And even with really old string, this guitar sound Spectacular!
@fyzikfyzik17 жыл бұрын
i don't understand why do people compare Don Ross with Antoine Dufour. They are quite different players.. We know that AD is great but you'd rather write it in AD videos comments.
@SonataArctica666615 жыл бұрын
yeah, i do agree. Andy McKee is an excellent guitarist, and comes up with amazing and unique things, but Don Ross is on par with, if not better than, Andy McKee.
@Flo0rless15 жыл бұрын
I guess his Brazilian tune is "Never got to Pernambuco". Pernambuco is a city in Brazil, and its somehow sounds samba'ish. Go ahead and seach ;)
