I agree with him on this. I liked these things in my youth, but upon conversion, I changed. I could no longer feel good about participating. I cannot participate in such darkness. Our culture is flippant about this and he is right. This darkness has an influence on us. How can we have fellowship with darkness? Can we be indwelt by the Holy Spirit and enjoy such twisted wickedness? I don't think so. Don't just stay away. Stay far away.

I agree brother. Another concern I have is to see many people having things like the evil eye bracelet. We should not trust in these things, but trust in Christ for our protection. To them that practice such things I advise you to read Psalm 135. If you think those idols answer you, think again. The enemy makes you think that, but it is actually them. This is something that happened to me recently. Bless Father, Ipray for people in my neighborhood and I have one neighbor who is afflicted with some orthopedic problems. She's not even 50 and she walks with a cane. As I watched her walking I thought to say a salutation to the Theotokos for her. The moment I started I felt like the wind got knocked out of me a little and I because nauseous. I never quite felt like that before. It's like something didn't want me to pray for her. The thing is, she practices witchcraft. Black robes, a coven, ceremonies, everything you would expect. I truly believe something did not want me praying for her. I'm sure she thinks she is in control of what she is toying with. It all has a darkness around it.

I recall this same Father saying in a video where he addresses how to pray that he recommends breathing deeply before beginning prayer to focus and eliminate the thoughts that clutter one’s mind. While he doesn’t specifically address techniques, he does note that slow, intentional breathing calms and brings mindfulness to prayer and to God. If you are not doing it in accordance of following other spiritual or pagan practices like yoga or healing, I don’t think it would be harmful. In my Orthodox journey, I have begun praying the Jesus Prayer to myself as I do my breathing. I find calm much faster and longer lasting with our Lord’s grace.

Personally, I find the bloodsport/entertainment aspect of it to be more problematic from a Christian perspective than the actual act of fighting. Like, I don’t think there is anything anti Christian about two dudes fighting in a competition, or even if it’s unsanctioned. But, I find the people who get heavily invested in the outcome of these events to be off putting. This goes for all sports, imo. But two men fighting, especially in the context of a match with rules, where you aren’t actually trying to kill the other person? I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with it.

Christ conquered the colosseum. But there's obviously nothing wrong with sport. Paul uses sports in his analogies. Israel literally could mean he who wrestles with God. The real question is why and when does something become an idol. There's a great amount of confusion in America about that.

Don't sugar coat it so much farther. With all do respect I'm just a nobody who loves the Lord with my whole being. I'm ready to die for him and I still sin. Is there a way you could tell them what REALLY happens or direct young people to listen to other young people who have really been to hell and what really happens. It's a good discussion piece, if you don't want to deep dive into what secret society cults can get into. If you're studying history with friends it can potentially be a good conversation piece but watching it alone is probably bad for many.
