For the first story: Leave him. There’s no reason for that kind of disrespect. Tampons are EXPENSIVE, and he threw away two whole boxes? And that’s not abuse, that’s confronting a problem. Maybe it wasn’t the BEST way to confront it, but it sure as hell isnt abuse

sometimes I look at comments about these stories and am like "why are you suggesting divorce over something like this? the entire point of a marriage is to work through your issues together", but this is definitely the early signs of abuse and I completely agree that they should break up. he's choosing now to reveal his guilt-trippy nature because he's been in it for the long con. Op needs to cut her losses and disappear before the marriage gets messy and she's tied to him by finances or something else. It's only two months in, she shouldn't have to waste anymore time on that twat. His issue with her is so stupid too. "we should take each other discomfort into consideration", she did mate. And she decided it didn't fucking matter. Grow up. Having tampons in doesn't affect you in the slightest. Why are you arguing about this again? "you verbally abused and insulted me" the fact he's jumping straight to abuse shows he's projecting onto her. He knows what he's gonna do later and he's trying to manipulate her by immediately accusing her of the thing he knows will hurt her. he knows she's not being abusive and he knows she doesn't want to be, so he's using it to hurt her and push her to do what he wants. OP, RUN.

@Someone-or8tp2 жыл бұрын
As much as I hate how the guys in story 2 didn't cheer her on, I do see to some extent why they'd be upset. Some people hate confrontation and would rather allow people to push them around than get into a fight about it. I imagine that if OP's group were those types of people, they'd be really upset. But really, it's not fair to be embarrassed by OP in that situation. They should've been on her side. Doesn't matter if YOU don't like confrontation. Stop being a coward and support the person you care about who doesn't want to be pushed around anymore. Get a grip on yourselves. Honestly, I understand people-pleasers, but people with no spines like that I just can't stand. Grow up. That's someone you care about. Support them instead of worrying about the opinions of strangers. I hate being looked at. I hate public areas. I hate standing out in a crowd. But if I was in that situation, I'd know full well that it's not about me or my discomfort. It's about someone else who is finally taking a stand. And I'd put aside my personal feelings to stand with them. Others need to learn how to be like that. It may be hard for people, but if it's for someone else you ought to get used to it, regardless of what you're comfortable with. Learn and grow. People are constantly evolving and if you stay like that then you're literally no better than the person harassing OP for standing around and doing nothing then subtly shaming them afterwards.

My friend has an artificial leg and threw it at the person once and scared the crap out of them. I'm in a chair people park in handicap spots all the time. I just ask them nicely if they're disabled? I don't presume. My mom has a colostomy and other health issues people question her all the time. If that were me I'd throw my bag of poop at them and shut them up fast. I have no tolerance for people like that. You can ask and be polite about it. Sounds like the man wasn't even handicapped so why was he going to park there? Exactly, I use pads not tampons. But it doesn't mean that I'm going to throw them away!
@gryffinclaw2 жыл бұрын
In the first story, the fact that the husband says he hates almost everything she does was already a freaking red flag. And he had no right, absolutely no right, to throw her tampons away. I don't think he complained about the tampons because he is somehow uncomfortable with them but rather he wanted to control her. By getting to decide what she wears during her period and what she doesn't, he's merely trying to be controlling towards her. Moreover, when he almost teared up and even claimed she verbally abused him, he was in fact emotionally manipulating her. Frankly, he's the abuser in this relationship. The wife should just divorce him immediately.

Honestly the people in the birthday story needs a good talking to, they had good intentions but someone should tell them it's not much of a birthday if the entire day except for maybe two hours is terrible, I feel bad for both the people throwing the party and the birthday person.

About the birthday story, I've always hated surprises. I mean, acting all silent and stone-cold, then making you feel like an outcast just so that people can make you feel happy all of a sudden is downright stupid. I never liked those ideas.
@aarushikishore14172 жыл бұрын
See, for the third one, they were just planning a birthday the whole day, you know. Because they think that that difference makes someone emotional, you know. I think it just went wrong. The thing is the family thought that if they ignore the person, the person would lose hope. Then if they suddenly wish, the person would suddenly feel very touched and happy because they had lost hope. The person would realise that it was all just a plan and actually everyone remembered and feel emotional. They would feel extra special, because their family and friends put extra efforts to make the day special. Or at least that was the way it was supposed to go like. But it didn't happen like that. The person instead felt really upset, thinking that half their day was wasted. It is understandable. When you are already sad, it is hard to make you happy. It just went wrong. But what I didn't like was that the family and friends shouldn't have called the person mean or rude. They should have instead apologised or coddled and explained that they didn't mean it like that.

First guy is actually abusive. It's controlling behaviour designed to make her feel that she has to accept even his most insane requests 'for a quiet life'. Ironically, she will never have peace if she stays with this manipulator.

For the first one: I would’ve slapped him across the face, and told him I wanted a divorce. I know that might sound like I’m overreacting, but he sounds *really* controlling. I have a disability card for parking as I'm terminally ill and have no help or family. It literally makes the difference as to whether I go somewhere normally the supermarket or doctors appointments. I have to use a walker as I don't have the strength to pushnmyself in my wheelchair. My elderly parents would push my wheelchair but they both passed away in the last 18months. I often get people come up to me to tell me to get out of the carpark and I just point to my mobility card. I've had people yell at me and call me names, it really upsets me because I would love to be well, to be able to carry on teaching primary school and being a foster Mum. My illness wasn't caused by anything I did. It makes me cry sometimes.

For the birthday party I'd be upset too. There's no reason not to wish happy birthday. It doesn't give surprise away. I wouldn't walk out though. I'd explain how upset I was but be glad they remembered. And would enjoy the party. Sure they put a lot into it. Not fair to slap them in their face. So I can see both sides in this story. The first story if she wants to wear pads who cares? I'm allergic to tampons and most pads so use what I can, if some guy said no must do what he wants, then there is the door!!!! He should give a valid reason if not then who cares if he doesn't like it.

Birthdays...I am married, with a daughter. Birthdays are a big, big deal where we live, (NOT THE US), and so a birthday boy or girl gets bombarded with birthday hugs and kisses, with many prizes, and surprises, all day. The point being, you are a key member, you are loved, Why would anyone plot to play with the feelings of a key person in life, for fun?!?

Need to remind the first guy that he married an adult, and as an adult you will make the appropriate decisions suitable for you about your femine hygiene. Remind him that it is wasteful and disrespectful to throw away your personal items. Set up boundaries that you expect to live by in the marriage. Demands seems irrational.

Hmm for the last story I do think that for a surprise, the whole point is to pretend and keep secret, so I guess it might be okay in some cases not to say anything until the actual surprise since it is a surprise. But they didn't have to be rude about it afterwards. Why did the friends and family feel the need to blow up the person's phone and tell them that they were being an asshole? It was their birthday and they felt upset because they thought no one remembered or they were being ignored. Just leave them be jeez
@nineplustentwentyone262 жыл бұрын
For the story regarding the birthday- I don't think a surprise is a bad idea, acknowledging that it is their birthday here and there would be fine... but to almost completely ignore them for the majority of the day? Come on... the highlight is definitely the party but remember that it is a birthDAY, not a birthNIGHT. The celebration should be throughout the entire day, not just packed into a few hours...

1st Story: That couple needs to go marriage counseling. (The husband needs it.) Though divorce seems like the easy way out, it if the husband is having a hard time explaining himself I think that should be acknowledged and not ignored. Even if the reasons are crappy reasons. (There might be a communication issue.) I don’t think the wife is at fault, she’s taking care of herself. And if that isn’t understood, it needs to be addressed.

For the third story I would've just walked to my room without a word and ate my cake while watching youtube, then when someone or maybe everyone came to check on me I would tell them "you ignored me today on my birthday the one day a year when it's all about me, you did not wish me a happy birthday, and I felt terrible all day because of it. Do you think this party makes up for that, the fact no one acknowledged my day. It's a birthday we celebrate a birthday all day, not just a few hours at the end of the day, if literally one of you wished me happy birthday I would be with you celebrating, but nobody did so I will stay here, you can tell everyone to leave." Then just before they left id say "saying happy birthday won't give away a surprise party, but not saying happy birthday sure will ruin it" then take another bite of cake, possibly ignore everyone for a few days, then do the exact same thing to them by not acknowledging their birthdays until the very end of the day where id text happy birthday right before going bed, but I'm petty like that so

When I started my periods there were no fancy pads. I had to use a belt with hooks at the back and front and thick pads with loops at each end. They were bulky and uncomfortable. Tampons were available but my mother thought that a 12 year old was too young to use tampons. As soon as I was 16 I started using tampons. I used tampons from the age of 16 until I was 50 and I never had any sign of toxic shock syndrome. OP's bf has no right to tell OP that she can't use tampons! He doesn't have periods and doesn't need to use pads.

It is not the husband's business what product his partner uses on their period. Everyone is different and different products work out for different people. Pads might work out for some, while for example tampons or period cups might work out better for others. If tampons is what works out for them and is most comfortable for them they should use it. Not what the husband wants them to use because he is "uncomfortable" with them using tampons. Who cares as long as the partner is comfortable and does not bleed through their clothes? People who have periods have to pay for these products themselves and it is expensive. It is really disrespectful to throw things he had not even paid for (and things that was his partners things to begin with). And then she did not have products to deal with the next one. What did he want her to do? Go and buy new products while bleeding through her clothes? He is not the one bleeding so he has no say. If he can't handle that his partner has periods he maybe should be single for the rest of his life or considering dating people who do not experience periods.
@chardajaf2 жыл бұрын
1) Not once did hear anything about him explaining WHY he didn't like the thought of you using tampons over pads. And even then, if tampons make your periods that much better and soothes the rides that much more, he needs to understand that and get over it. I've never heard of a man say that they would rather their female S/O use a certain period product over another. Bottom line, regardless of situations and/or different positions for different people, YOUR body belongs to YOU! 2) Did he really think she would magically know that he wanted that spot? No one's a mind reader, get over it. Also, did he really not look in the window to check for the blue card? That alone should've made stopped him in his tracks. And her group are so inconsiderate for not taking her side. Y'ALL got embarrassed because a crowd was forming bc a grown man made as ass outta himself and she defended herself? Y'all pathetic for that. 3)I can see it from both sides. The BP (birthday person) really felt ignored all day. Not once did they get a 'Happy Birthday' that could've prevented them from even getting a cake for themselves let alone walking out. For everyone else, I believe they wanted to emotionally prepare BP for the surprise and make it that much more amazing when the time came. However, for them to call BP an asshole for feeling they way they did is just wrong. They would feel the same way if they went through it.
