Why would she not want to communicate with the dog? Jesus H Roosevelt. My only goal as a trainer and an owner is to establish good verbal communication with the dog (if it’s healthy), because that’s the human world’s first method to convey messages! My whippet (probably they share a lot of similarities with shibas…) will heel, reluctantly, but when she feels that our connection is not my priority, she is off. I interpret this as why would she be open to cooperation when I’m not focusing on her? I’m not saying that this is “normal”, but there are breeds which don’t live and breathe for their handler. Those breeds will NEVER thrive if you force them into cooperation. These idiot trainers just get away with these methods because they choose to demonstrate their methods on dogs that already have a tendency to work well with humans…

Absolutely!! And specific breeds we're bread to think independently from their handler to do their job well. Whippets and Shiba's sound very similar and I appreciate that you respect your baby for who they are as an individual 🥰

(Really long comment sorry) I heavily agree with you! I hate prongs and e-collars, I have a pitbull and a golden retriever and both have issues, I LOVE harness soooo much(however i disagree with using back clips on harnesses for most dogs for some they work but front clips also work best for mine) But for our pitbull she has fear aggression and we can’t help her so my mom and dad hired a trainer and he pretty much only uses e-collars(he said for the pitbull “she’ll need and e collar)So we have to but it’s our only option at this point. And i said if she seems in pain at all during the training then I don’t want him to help anymore but apparently my dad doesn’t care that much because they’re paying 500+ dollars for the first 2 sessions(im pretty sure there 4-6 sessions). I’m glad to see someone with the same views as me! I also love kikopup(might have spelt it wrong) she helped me stop my nana’s dog from mugging for a few days but I haven’t worked with him for awhile so he’s back at it. And for walking at a pace, walks are typically for dogs l, you’re supposed to find an equal pace so both YOU and the dog can walk easily and happily at. Dogs can sniff and should, but you can never truly have a dogs “full attention” but you can try and dogs normally listen, I agree on you with that as well! You seem really nice so I’m gonna sub! I came from the Clinton Anderson video but I didn’t watch it all the way. Do you watch RaleighLink? Edit: You should be the boss of your dog in my opinion, you should however have a dog that will respect you. Love the video

Wow her training does not make sense even for pain compliance Trainers. She does not give the dog a Chance to decide to do anything. Sie just corrects in the same Moment or even before she gives the command. That makes zero sense. How is the dog supposed to learn what to do or not to do?

It gets worse by the second. They dont care about feelings, as long as animal is in a silly hair cut, has matchy clothes, or get a gag bit BIG whip, THEY dont know true love as you and i do, appauling,, thankyou, you have a beautiful soul

Its amazing digs xan understand anytjing when theyre "taught" cues like this, all of the cues rely on basically the same correction to force it, how can they ever learn and feel confident what is actually being asked. Well its obvious they are never really sure. Im using my orefered terms as i can't stand command or told but in tnis situation thats what it is :( i cant underdtand how some trainers think that this is easier than teacjing with treats and rewards

I used to have a yellow Labrador i know it seems crazy but you know labradors arent usually an agreessive dog but guess what mine was and he Edit he was a outside dog and we had to keep him outside because he was not potty trained and my dad brought him from dunaways from fordsville my dad used to work at dunaways but anyways he was very boney skinny and did not look well but anyways we nursed him back to to health back in 2015 when we had him on thanksgiving but anyways in 2016 he did turn aggressive at other people barking and growling pulling on a chang every single time we dont nessarily dont mean to yell at him its just that would bite somebody if we dont take control of him but anyways he passed away in 2022 back in july because he had some kibd if cancer not sure but he had bad pain in his hip joints thats what made him not able to walk to much but anyways by the way my dogs name was Rusty.

You forgot John at Glasgow Dog Training, and Stephanie from Happy Hounds. I don’t like Victoria Stillwell, but it might be her personality. Emily (Kikopup) was the first online trainer I watched, and I think she’s amazing, but I like John and Stephanie for help with reactivity. I’ve never seen Emily working with dogs that aren’t hers and are reactive. John and Stephanie do that, which is more useful for our situation.

Omg the dog is in heel! What a miserable walk and that poor dog. Where are these trainers getting their "training"? I want to give you the biggest hug about Adonis. We did bad training with our boys too due to bad trainers but we grow and learn and become better the more experience we have. 100% agree they are not our property they are our companions....Oh my God another one saying don't sniff??!! I just posted a video talking about that nonsense.
