His personality is so unbearable. He didnt make any sense with that hardship vs trauma blah blah. It is all just a rationalization for him to bully and abuse. You may remember Scottie's story of being the ugly duckling, runt of his litter, and neglected by the breeder. I don't know but I can speculate that his rocky start made him easier to guide and train because, after five months, he needed someone to focus on him. Once he felt that, he was bought in and that was it. He's had some rocky experiences with me too -- shitty dogs, my temper, moves, etc. -- but, for thr most part, I pamper him to the extent that I am able. I actually joke with him when he acts tough and tell him that some dog who has *really* had it rough in the pits will show him what tough is. That's a morbid joke, I admit. Having a sweet life is good. Those of us who havent had them want that more than anything for our babies. And we feel tremendous guilt when we let them down due to our own limitations or mistakes as humans. A happy success story to share! My landlord, who has a serious prolblem closing doors and gates behind him, let the gate open the other day and Scottie got loose. Now there's a 100lb Dogo Argentino running loose who is hit or miss with other dogs and doesn't care for children. Not good. At all. I tracked him down and he saw me and followed me. His "recall" (if it can be called that) is not nearly good enough for me to expect him to show up at my feet if I say so. Not when he lives behind a fence and on-leash his whole life, and is enjoying the ability to run and roam. But he did see me, hear me, and follow me. He always does, with his gooffy big dog gallop. That is not my "training." I failed at that miserably. What saves us is that he will choose me when he has every reason and incentive to run around for hours without me. Short story long, training is never perfect. The relationship with the dog goes a long way when obedience/compliance fails. Giving them a nice home life is not a bad idea. Inflicting hardship to make your dog hard or disciplined is some real punk bitch shit. It's so strange that Joel articulates things that way, as if it makes him look good or credible. Good for the Schnauzer. He is not taking that bully nonsense. Scottie didn't take it either when some goofy trainer tried it on him and would only take so much from me. It has not been effective to train forcefully -- it destroys their energy, which is there in abundance when it is fun and positive.

Love to hear that your good boy loves you so much! That's what a true bond is and something that Joel will never understand!

@K9Tay It was everything when he followed me towards home. He had no good reason to do that considering his alternatives. He really melted my heart. Joel is all about his ego, his dominance, his control. He's insecure and will never get it. None of his dogs seem relaxed and the scene is chaotic.

@@K9Taywhat do you think of the bond Joel has with his helper dog and how the dog seems to behave ?

@mrmcallister I think he has a bond of force, fear, you do what I say, master type relationship with prince. And I believe prince loves Joel regardless, because that's what dogs do, they are so forgiving. But I don't know since I'm not there behind closed doors.

Trauma can affect people and animals regardless of age, gender and health status. My mom was over 60 when she unfortunately married her second ASPD and NPD husband

It depends on how your brain reacts to one or several incidents, not just the severity of said incident(s), and this has been proven in research

So I commented on Joel Beckman channel and told him that he was very abusive to dogs.

The ridgeback literally can’t him. Lip licks, head turns, it does not want to be near him. The poor dog is just tolerating him.

3:40 Does he think she’s going to associate pushing on her head with jumping? She didn’t try to jump. I know what an impending jump looks like (my niblet likes a running start, but she’s not my first, or even 10th dog). That reminds me, she’s been jumping like Tigger on her back legs when I go to the back door. I’m afraid she’ll pull the curtains down on herself.

17:45 Why do we have to be softer or harder on any dog? He’s full of crap about hardship. My dogs trust me to feed them and give them water and not let them come to harm. I didn’t crate train in another room. They sleep with me now, but Bella had a wonky bowel issue for the first three months. Joel’s a dick. Why would you be mean? 21:20 Bella can get snippy and rude with Lily, and she is being mean. That’s not fair to Lily. We’re still working on that. It happens every time we load into the car (she’s over threshold, but she can still think, because I can see her strategize how to get a nip in).
