Best clarinetist on the planet. When I went to NOLA, I brought a chair, a drink, a hat, and parked in front of Doreen’s band for hours. I didn’t need anything else. She is the best.

It’s great when you guys spread the net and find artists outside of pop/rock/r&b. Keep going!

This woman is so talented, so humble and so genuine and I was honored to meet her in 2022 and watch her on Royal street outside the Rouses market fill the air with the most incredible clarinet playing that exists on this earth. Thank you God for Doreen!!

I LOVE watching her videos on KZbin! ❤❤❤❤❤❤She's one of only a handful of musicians I've come across in life who can bring me to tears with how well they play.

She is a gift to the Earth -- so happy to see her interviewed here. Clarinet is a notoriously b*tchy instrument, and she absolutely SOARS on it. I've never heard anyone else make a reed instrument sound so fluid and effortless.

Great video. Never knew clarinets could sound THAT good. Most of the players in my band class played no where near a good as her.

00:15 "I can't put my name on something I'm not really in love with, I can't just play it for the cameras or play it for money, I can't do that, because I love what I do". WELL SAID. Now tell that to academia which forces all students to study Jazz even though at least 1/3 of the students despise Jazz yet are forced by academia to learn it and play it! Jazz is not for everybody yet is forced on everybody. 03:10 "I was hurt, so much", she says, about an abusive Jazz teacher who purposely mocked her during class for not being able to play parts. Sounds about right, sounds like Jazz instruction. No one should be forced to study Jazz music or under the Jazz cycle of abuse.

What??? The ‘Jazz teacher’ was a band director in Junior high. I don’t know how someone could have hurt you with jazz, but someone must have for you to react in this way. I hope you’re able to heal those wounds at some point.

@@CarlosBenjamin so it is "ok" for a teacher to mock a student in junior high? Is that what you are saying?
