I hope her insurance adjuster sees this and raises her rates, or they drop her completely, and she's blacklisted from motor/auto insurance. She will then not be allowed to drive because she is not only a risk to herself but to others as well. In America, it is illegal everywhere to drive without insurance of some kind on the vehicle.

this particular bad advice isnt safety related. the serpintine belt only runs alternator, water pump,PS, water pump and in some cases fan.

(Although I will admit that 'the cutting of the belt' was when it started to fray along the edges, and you didn't have the money to get one at the time. AKA you where in between paydays, and your parents wouldn't let you 'barrow' the money from them. lol

​​@@maddhatter3564yes, when the belt blows, you lose power steering (which you won't notice at highway speeds, power steering is for parking lots/slow speed), the water pump, and then you have a bit of time driving as the engine peters out due to the dying battery, plenty of time to get yourself pulled over to the side safely before complete death! Before my dad would let me drive, or any of my siblings, we absolutely had to take auto shop in high school, and from the time we were 12 or 13 he was teaching us as well. None of us became mechanics even as a serious hobby, but all of us us can change a belt, a tire, oil, filters, etc. Do they not have auto shop in schools anymore? Nor do they have woodworking class, metal working class, typing (now keyboarding) class, home economics, music class, art class, drafting class, driving class (yes, I got my driver's license in high school in 1973) and in many schools, any extra-curricular sports. Funding for after-school programs have also been cut. No more gun club and chess club and writer's club. Here are your tax dollars hard at work... diverted to giving free food and drugs to the homeless and housing to illegals.

I had auto shop and all that in the early 90s, but when I put my son in high school in 2010, "oh, no! Those classes are too dangerous and are no longer offered!" 😡 I at least provided him with some background, like by taking him to work with me as a kid and letting him learn how to manually change motorcycle tires and rebuild carburetors, then later on when I was in automotive he'd help out during tire season. Nowadays, the best education our kids could ever get comes from home :)

Actually, some people pay extra to have their tyres filled with nitrogen, believing that it will improve fuel economy. (That’s what green valve stem caps mean-the tire is pressurized with nitrogen.) The problem is, the idiots are now technicians. I did the Service on my bike this time and found that the Tech added 36 ounces of primary fluid at the 1k service instead of 30. Some bikes do take 36, but not my model. Worse, the volume is just a guide...you verify with the level just touching the clutch plates...can no longer trust the overpriced service at the award winning local dealership as the Techs cant or wont bother reading.
