Nothing I'm super late but if you haven't decided you should definitely get a jeep. 90% of people who say jeeps are unreliable or jeeps are horrible on road haven't owned one. There's a reason the resale is so high on jeeps. My 2010 Jk has 145k miles and I haven't had a single issue. The only thing i'd recommend is getting one newer than mine because the 2010's engine is underpowered.

Another negative of the Jeep: Lousy towing capacity, can haul only 3,500 your regular v6, the hybrid should hauled more and don’t get me started with the v8 wrangler with a hemi engine. When you upgrade to either hybrid or v8, it’s still pathetic if you want to haul things like a bigger trailer with only 3,500 pounds for what you spend on it. The gladiator is just a wrangler pickup and that thing can haul something, just the sport variant only with the max weight being 7,500 pounds Edit: I don’t want to sound like I’m a lanebrain, but I’m trying to make a point.

I dont know about the newer jeeps, but my 4.0L yj with the ax15 transmission accelerates pretty quick. Also, the doors lock. The steering is quick and smooth. Its actually pretty comfortable on road trips(stock seats). Its pretty compact, and handles pretty well in urban environments. The heater makes up for the lack of insulation. It handles snow better than alot of other vehicles, and the only time i have been stranded, was when the alternator crapped out. Also, its pretty safe, because it takes no damage in fender benders, and you understand that a high speed crash WILL hurt, so you use just a little extra caution when driving.

How fuel efficient are they? I've heard they're not very good with gas mileage. My father had a 6-speed stick shift one. Drove it once. Have to be honest. It was a lot of fun! Is it worth it? I wouldn't be going off road very much.
@kazeryu172 жыл бұрын
@@higherlearning2483 To be honest, the fuel efficiency is terrable although there are less efficient vehicles. I get about 11mpg city, and 16mpg highway on average. Also, the tank I not large, so you have to refuel more often. a tank of gas will get me about 3-4 hours of interstate driving, depending on weather I'm going up, or down hill. Basically, if you want somthing that will get you where you want to go(fuel cost not a factor), weather that be at the end of a jeep trail, or narrow downtown streets; can take a beating; is iconic; and is fun to drive, and great for recreation; than an old jeep makes a great vehicle. If your looking for somthing safe, fuel efficient, and family friendly, than a jeep is probably the worst thing you can get. I mentioned that they are safe, because they are unsafe. No ABS, no air bags, and very little impact absorption. If you get into a major accident, you will be lucky if your killed on impact, because if you survive, it will be through the miracles of modern medicine, and you will probably never fully recover. Driving a jeep motivates you to become very skilled at defensive driving.

My experience owning one so far... Every ad, pamphlet, sales literature and even the sales pitch at the dealership revolve around it's off road capabilities. Yet doing things I did on a weekend basis with my 20 year old Wrangler TJ Sahara caused the yolk on the front inner axle to fail, taking out a ball joint and snapped an ear off of the now cheap aluminum steering knuckle. All on a brand new 2019 Wrangler JL Rubicon! First they tried to brush me off due to evidence of mud under the vehicle (for real?). The argument quickly escalated that I possibly hit something despite 0 damage on any other components. They wouldn't say I did hit something for sure, but since it was a possibility... they had an argument. It was also a possibility a part failed... just saying. When making it clear I couldn't be without a vehicle any longer and that I have to get it fixed, I asked if it needed anything else. They didn't know, as they didn't inspect it. They just saw it was broke and dirty and essentially just said nope unless I paid up. I was told they could see if anything aside from what they could see by looking behind the tire was broke, but I'd have to pay for a full inspection. At one point I was given the option to pay in "advance" to speed up the repairs and if the warranty kicked in, I'd be reimbursed. Ya, right... Being jerked around between the dealership and customer service, I took my jeep elsewhere to get fixed. Doing so apparently waived my right to complain anymore or receive compensation. But after 2 weeks of being without a vehicle... it had to be done. It turned into 3 weeks after everything was said and done. That's what 60k buys you! I've posted this a few times on Jeeps facebook page. Which are all deleted and I am blocked now from commenting. Guess your only allowed to tell people to go ahead and void your warranty work, it's fun!

I have 2008 jeep wrangler 2 door. And finally went on a 300 mile drive. And that was the most uncomfortable ride ive ever had. Always feld like i was going to lose control of it. Well that was a month ago. Now today the engine blew a rod. Are you kidding me. Ive had this thing for 6 years. Had 110 000 miles when i got it. Now has 133000 miles. Piece of trash. Too bad. Looks really nice. Has 5" lift with 35" tires. But now finding out this is a common problem

I have a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon Diesel 3.0L and it has plenty of power. Its suspension is super smooth. Lastly, my trunk locks. 🤷🏻♂️

Wrong very wrong . Stock 14 jk did 127mph in 3rd 5 speed auto np . Now with 35's and torson lsd its lot more stable takes curves at higher speed than stock .

I just rented a JL Unlimited and was shocked at how smooth the ride, transmission and acceleration was. The V6 had plenty of power. I’m buying one for sure as my next vehicle and planning on taking it camping and overlanding, of course I’ll lift it a bit with 35” tires. Wranglers really are one of the few vehicles that go anywhere outside of trucks and a 4Runner.

Who else thinks a $700.00 dollar bumper is cheap? Yes you can buy cheaper stuff but if you really take it off road much sometimes cheap stuff can leave you stranded. One thing I love about older jeeps is making alot of your upgrades. You can build upgrades for your new one as well but you might want to put more time and effort into making it pretty so as to not make a newer jeep look so rough or crappy as it were. Love my jeep and I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle.

I really want a jeep but I gotta know if I ever buy one, do they actually eat up gas? And are they worth it for casual everyday driving and not off-roading
@montanamountainmen61044 жыл бұрын
I always wanted a Jeep. But being married and having kids it wasn't gonna happen. Now my kids are grown took the wife to the dealer she drove one and I came home with a new Firecracker Red 2019 Sport S and my wife loves it........I rarely get to drive it because the wife has it.

I really want one but I’m terrified of the low reliability & how many repairs I’d need for it vs having another Toyota. I wouldn’t go off roading, or lift the truck or do anything silly like that to it. Everyone I know that has a Wrangler swears by them, but my mechanic tells me to stay far away from them & stick with Toyota, Honda, Mazda, etc

Starr Williams they do lock, even the older models lock. The trunk isn’t very big though, but that’s why there’s a backseat

Jeeps aren’t designed to be daily drivers and/or a primary vehicle. Jeeps are very expensive toys, and that’s what they are….an expensive toy. And as a toy they’re terrific. They’re fun to drive, customize, and they’re lots of fun. I recently bought my third Jeep and second Wrangler. On the positive side, Jeeps hold their value better than just about any other vehicle. An entire industry exists just to supply customized parts and upgrades for Jeeps at very reasonable prices.

Not true. Mines 18 months old and im having a hard time getting 60% value in my trade. It’s a lie.
@iceman94604 жыл бұрын
Brian Owens it was a trade in that’s why. Dealers always give you the bottom barrel price on trade ins. When I was out looking at cars for my girlfriend this past weekend I saw a 2016 JKU Sahara on the lot and they wanted almost $30k for it. So they do hold their value fairly well compared to most cars if you private sell it. My girl ended up getting a “used” 2020 Camry and it had depreciated close to 10k off of sticker in the 6 months the previous own had it. So in comparison, Jeeps hold their value fairly well
@brianowens10024 жыл бұрын
Austin L trade in value is based on resale value. I use to sell cars, I’m fairly well versed on the topic. Why would anyone brag about resale if it didn’t impact the owner? Why brag about how much feared would be making? If you’re paying the redic asking price on a used Jeep, I’m sorry for your loss.
@brianowens10024 жыл бұрын
Austin L also Camry’s aren’t a good comparison, cars don’t sell very well period.

@Thatsotaguy5 жыл бұрын
He said they were but I also question it. Jeep isn't known for being reliable. I also question how he says they're inexpensive when they're insanely expensive for what they are
