Warning: This video is strictly my opinion and experience with the customer service of my laptop. I do not claim that it is always like this.
Before you buy an HP laptop watch this video.
This is my experience with HP laptops.
I bought an HP laptop and it turned out to be one of the worst decisions I could ever make. I hope to change the customer service a little bit by this video or at least warn some people about it.
This video was shot on the LUMIX panasonic GMC-7 and my IPhone 12 mini

My recommendation, don't do anything unusual with the Thunderbolt port. It's not only HP, I live in an area which experiences fluctuarting volatages. I did the mistake of connecting my MacBook directly to the wall via the Thunderbolt port, and it fried the daughterboard. Don't use powerbanks, and incase you do, definately go for a stabilizer. Will save you loads of money in the long run.

Don't buy anything with Hp on it. It's even worse with their printers that you can't even use unless you create an account.

You can reset the USBc port by holding the power button for 30sec NO LESS and then let go and press the power again, it will take a few minutes for the hp screen to appear but you should be good to go after that. As far as the activation code, you can get it via a command prompt google that as I can't remember the command off the top of my head and copy and paste the code back into Windows in the activation option. We have hundreds of HP laptops on our fleet and they are pretty resiloamt

well at least you got it serviced under warranty. My HP Pavilion dv6732eo laptop was one of those that had that defective nVidia m7xxx, m8xxx or m9xxx gpu's (a m8400gs). on those it was known issue (to the manufacturers) already in 2007 that the solder in those GPU's would crack after 2 years of continuous usage cycles. nVidia was put to pay the manufacturers to cover 5 extra years of warranty, and other manufacturers were willing to comply just fine. but based on the internet forums, HP was not willing to honor it, but instead would try to double dip on the cookie jar and get the repair costs from nVidia and the costumer. and so just like that, my then two years old laptop was death and only response from HP was "pay us 500€ so we put a free refurbished motherboard on it." only after i filed a legal complain against HP and they knew that if i lost, it would have cost me nothing but time. but if they lost, they would have been for not only for free repairs on my case but really hefty fines from the Finnish government. it took 4 months of fighting on so obvious thing, so i made a decision that i would rather pay double for the same hardware rather than buy it from the HP scammers ever again.

That power issue isn't predominantly HP. I have had several HP laptops and only had issues if I bought the mid or lower range models. Hope you get the issue fixed.

Older hardware is usually better hardware. My Elitebook 820 G2 was a refurbished laptop, it's been going for years. Except the battery... which is replaceable! ...and the WWAN module is buggy (software problem).

If you want the best value for money, go for a new m1 (yes m1) macbook pro. If you need a normal windows laptop get framework. Or if you are okay with ARM devices, get a surface laptop, the one with qualcomm chips. Do your homework.

We have more than hundred HP laptops in company. Had only few issues with them - was professionally fixed by serviceman in the office. BUT. They are all ProBook's and EliteBook's with 3 years warranty on site (here, in Europe).

before even watching this- I am using an HP Probook430 G8, and I should have looked more at the time of purchase as its specs aren't so good for the price. The MSI Modern 14 has better specs at a fraction of the price

Typing this on a 11 year old HP Elitebook still going strong. That powerbank is what killed your laptop in the first instance. The damage to your laptop on it's return from repair however is not good enough. I don't know what country you're from so can't comment on your consumer rights there, In Australia you'd pretty well be on the threshold to a full refund or replacement device at this point. HP policy used to be 2 major failures = credit / refund. Get on the phone and get complainy. If you used the powerbank a second time result in your laptops death again, that's kinda on you, Unlist this video and make contact with HP. Remember, Never hurts to complain loudly.

I will try to get a new one if it is possible. The second time it broke happend randomly, didn’t do anything unusual to it. But why should I unlist the video?
@garyhope6577
@garyhope6577 11 күн бұрын
Unlist because you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar. Even if just for now. If they don't come to the party, make it public again and provide a follow up of your experience. I mention this because in business, you're less likely to receive a favourable outcome if you've already told the world how crap a company is.
@WVH_clips
@WVH_clips 11 күн бұрын
@garyhope6577 I would argue that the outcome is already unfavourable because it was already once in repair and it came back worse. I wanted to share that experience.

I work in a big IT company and yes hp fucking sucks. We’re constantly having issues with them. But at least they are easy to repair to me. For your problem try pressing the power button for 20 sec, then release it, check if TAB led turns on, then plug a charger and boot it normally 😊

I have an hp envy x360 and I can only say that I had good experiences with hp support. Mind you I didn't have any big issues with laptop, just the pen not working after a few weks, and they promptly sent me a new one no questions asked. Power delivery for charging works very well with an offbrand powerbank and have never had an issue with it. Maybe this is one of those times where support is different from different geographic regions.
