I watch them on the regular. They're Korean fashion vloggers. They're more into Korean styles of clothes. They were genuinely curious. They usually engage in purely Korean content and they use those cute voices from time to time just to harmlessly be cutesy with their twin banter. They don't usually permanently stick to the styles they just try out. However, they do try a lot of stuff. Great video Lor.

It does annoy me that they keep implying that the makeup is weird even though it looks cute, and that they look like a horror character and that the clothes would be worn for Halloween. It comes off like the kind of people who do see you wearing something like that on the street and go "lol it's not halloween yet"
@kr54812 жыл бұрын
The fact that they couldn’t be bothered to do the style justice despite having the resources (WHILE IN Japan no less), does give me the vibe that they would def bully someone for wearing alt fashion.

I understand your concern but let’s not judge people off of stupid videos, maybe they’re just not used to darker makeup and it’s different for them. I hope they learn from this experience and make more informative videos. Some people just need a little more time to understand why stuff like this can be harmful :’)
@kr54812 жыл бұрын
@@crownedoll that’s true, that’s why I appreciate Lor’s measured approach here even if the girls doing the video came off really annoying at parts. For me, my earlier comment comes from having dealt with this type of attitude many times growing up, and it’s an admittedly reactionary defense mechanism. Who knows, they might be super nice people and I do hope they watch this video and learn more about the fashion and how to handle unfamiliar styles better. 🖤

I’m very late,but on days like Halloween when I still dress goth Lolita,everyone admires me and loves me,but on regular days,I get rude stares and people do not like the way I am dressed.It’s quite upsetting,actually.
@s0d4_p0p9 Жыл бұрын
Yea, there are people who dress the way they are dressing casually/to events for fun (me included) and the way they are talking about the make up and how they are dressed is so insulting. I think I look handsome/cool/attractive in stuff like that, and they're passively acting like it's so weird/unattractive. This is why a lot of people in alternative fashion talk about people like them so negatively, the whole "normies" vs. "Alts" conversation. People who dress in the more acceptable fashion will look at Alt people and say the most passively mean shit and then be surprised when alt people talk shit about them. I get it's new to them, but there's so much judgment behind their words for people who genuinely feel more comfortable in these styles.

These styles are usually just that- a style- and it really shows

Adding another comment to say that the point you made @ 19:40 is extremely true, and I've come to really appreciate the fashion's name for that reason. There will always be people who try to take advantage of our subculture in various ways, but the fact many modern social medias actively suppress certain words, like the name Lolita, keeps us relatively safe from being exploited by crash grabbers and clout chasers. Maybe I'm just a hipster but I feel like the fact lolita fashion is a small niche that's kept alive mostly by people who genuinely love it, is a good thing.
@thelonleyUchiha12 жыл бұрын
The only way I can think of of why they failed so bad is that they don’t think Lolita fashion is an actual “fashion” brand you can wear like normal clothes and they just like Lolita is just a “costume” you can wear like a “vampire” or whatever but….like if they watched Safiya vid at all and are in Japan then obviously that’s not true 😵💫

If you cannot afford authentic lolita fashion pieces, you can always rework/mod the cheap ones. The old school lolita (at least at my time back in the late 90s) was all about self made/modified items. Even if you cannot sew full on patterns, you'd get a base piece and change it up and layered it. That is what I did at least back in the day to get the casual "budget" gothic lolita look.

"it's a little poor quality" ma'am, yOU ORDERED FROM A SITE COMPARABLE TO SHEIN. WHAT DID YOU THINK IT WOULD BE. also yeah, the fact that they're literally IN JAPAN, it's like a cheat code for getting lolita fashion - even if you don't buy it if it's expensive, you can at least go there to see what the fashion looks like
@voidmatic2 жыл бұрын
@Trinity M I've never bought lolita (I can't afford it, it's not very accessible for where I live, etc) in my life lmao I just like the fashion and have been interested in it for many years now. I wasn't assuming everyone in Japan is keyed into subgenres of fashion, I simply meant that due to their location, there's a lot more opportunities for them to go check out shops / events in person, which would be a really interesting intro to the fashion :) also, I simply meant that ordering from a fast fashion site comparable to shein with "too good to be true" prices should be a red flag that the quality isn't going to be too great, and that's not a lolita thing, that's a VERY universal online shopping thing :)
@ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Жыл бұрын
What's so wrong with shein, seriously. I'm poor and don't have money for anywhere else. Never felt disappointed with the quality. I have 50$ a month top for clothes. We don't have nice clothes in thrift stores. People constantly tell me how pretty my outfits from shein are. Saw a local shop selling clothes from shein with 4 times the price. As an online shopper, I can tell you many local businesses are just reselling things from the internet and pricing them higher.
@voidmatic Жыл бұрын
@@ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's not about the "quality" of the products. it's about how incredibly terrible shein is as a company. they're incredibly wasteful, 100% unethical sweatshop run, and to top it off, for the last few years I haven't been able to go a week (not exaggerating) without seeing another artist in the community have their art relentlessly stolen from shein with absolutely no remorse. it hurts small independent artists, the environment, and perpetuates the use of sweatshops. I also can't afford any sort of alt fashion etc, but instead of buying into terrible companies like shein, I diy what I have, thrift when I can, and save up for items I know I'll really wear. hope that answer helps.

How are you going to get anyone to see it? What if all of your videos are like that? Are you just going to tag them fashion? Cute dark style? You think anyone will view those videos searching that? Why do we have to be so close-minded, critical and obsessed with fitting into a stereotype? What about individuality? We should suppress individuality if we want to get views and just copy the classical style? I remember the internet in the past it had so much more variety and individuality and now everyone is just attacking things that are slightly different.

Bette Davis is a queen so please take this in a good way. Since this isn’t a phase (duh) how do you feel about “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”? I’m goth and always imagine what I’ll look like at 80. There’s this awesome British goth KZbinr named Jane (no relation lol) and she’s someone I can look up to. I think she’s in her 60’s or 70’s and looks so cool. Do you ever imagine what you’ll look like at that point? I always picture Bette from that movie when I think of an aging Lolita. Idk! It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things and I’m not making fun. Love you!!

If only they hadn't used costumes! I feel like if they'd had actual lolita clothes they'd probably have coordinated them really well though.

I love gothic lolita and I'm a goth as it fits my style. I don’t want my lifestyle choice to be considered a costume...😢

😂😂😂 Style Savvy. I love the original DS game so much. I didn’t realize the 3D models were from the second game until you said it and the Raven Candle brand. (Tbh, their first game looked better)

If i should say personally , I really want Lor someday make a heavier hitting topic video that telling about Obsessive Stan Culture in Lolita Community

What exactly do you mean by that? I've certainly experienced that in fandom but haven't seen too much in lolita. I don't tend to interact in online spaces or comms very much though.
