DON'T!! Ceramic Coat WRX STI Tomei Headers! Cheap metal??

These Headers are made in China, supposedly, the "Cheap "metal and factory coatings make it close to impossible to get the Ceramic Coating to adhere perfectly.
This is the second time they are being removed to be coated. 3rd Times a charm, right? We will see......
I wanted to have a little fun taking my headers off and experiment with making different videos and using music. So here we are.

Heads up these headers are actually made in Taiwan. Quality is significantly better than anything china can spit out but still, they're not japanese haha

If the chrome isn't off than it won't stick, a powder coating shop near won't even take parts that are chrome.

It looks chromed but it's a highly polished header. The coaters told me because it was so highly polished it made coatings extremely difficult.

@@Mikey6048 did they not media blast it before hand. I have a Tomei header I'll be looking to ceramic coat also

Supposedly yes. They did everything they could. I honestly just think the Company I used was lazy and of poor quality.

Would it be even more beneficiary if you ceramic coat them and cover them in heat wrap? Or would that just be overkill

Ceramic coating basically negates the need to use Heat wrap. You could technically use both. But ceramic coating does such a great job at insulating, the wrap wouldnt be doing much of anything except adding weight. Also wraps are frowned upon by some because they can become flammable if they get oil on them. I've seen videos of heat wraps going up in flames. And if they get wet, they will be keeping moisture on your exhaust system. Which basically speeds up corrosion.

Did it happen again after it was redone? Has the piping cracked on you?

Yes. It's flaking off in a couple of small spots. But it hasn't spread. So I left it the way it is. No the pipes are intact. They are nicely built pipes. Just a pain in the ass to recoat.

It'll be a few weeks before I get them back. I want the coaters to take whatever time is needed to get this fixed forever. They have a lifetime warranty on thier work.
