The potential for growth is there. We do not have a standard mall yet. No 5 star hotel. It's a student's town. Not a fan of the current administration there now though.

When you come to Nigeria, move around and see what state best suits your lifestyle . The smaller states are very peaceful and easygoing, plus things are much cheaper. Akure, kwara ,Ogun ,Osun , Oyo and Ekiti has peaceful areas where you will find expatriates living their best lives.

This was good, Bayo. Poor customer service is everywhere. I LOVE building my own infrastructure, one of the BEST parts of my relocation journey! The driving in Benin is both good and bad, better because its less traffic than in Lagos, but bad because they don't abide by many traffic rules or even just traffic etiquette. If you can't adapt, why even think of moving?! LOL! But, overall you outlined some amazing challenges, my favorite part is that you shared that ALL of them can be overcome if you have cash flow and problem-solving skills. Great job!

@@thenigeriannomad Exactly for me too I relocated when my son was 5 years old and we stayed for 10 yrs before I had to move back with him to finish his education here. Those 10 years were the best years of our lives we lived like kings. He went to one of the top schools in Lekki (Greensprings)and it was from home to home. Well equipped A/C in all the classes, domitory, washing machines, fully equiped laboratories etc. I was self employed had quality time to spend with my son, didn't have to worry about excessive bills, long working hours, and at the end of the day pay it back into the system. Just like you Bayo I was born in the UK in the 60's had a good job here but menh omo it's just a terrible, vicious, rollercoaster cycle if care is not taken you just end up serving these people. Not only did my son benefit from knowing the culture, but also came out with fanstatic grade, saved from crime culture here in the UK in which most Nigerian children are now involved in and most in prision so what is the whole essence of living abroad if the kids you claim you have relocated here for turn out the way you dont want. Those who turn out well do not have the same mentality that we had knowing that when you grow up you need to take care of your parents. Most of my age mates are now going through all that emotions now however, its the reverse for me as my child has that mentality, culture and top most God fearing attitude. We can go on and on but for me the edge people in dispora have is that dual nationality with that you can live comfortably in Nigeria. I am on my last phase now will be in Niger finally soon and for good.

hi Bayo, great video as always. Points two and three seem to counter each other. You say Nigerians are naturally very sociable people - which is very true. Yet, in point three, you say we're not great at making people feel welcome when they are customers. An outsider wanting to relocate from a Western background may find that side of Nigerian culture contradictory. We underestimate good customer service to the detriment of the progress of our businesses.

You forgot one critical issue, Bayo - ENDLESS NOISE!!! Noise from generators, honking vehicles, sirens, blaring loudspeakers from places of worship and weekly parties! We mustn't also ignore insecurity! Naija has its pleasures but it is definitely not for the faint-hearted!

When I visit my husband, we stay on the island because when we are on the mainland, we are stopped by police and harassment for naira is out of control. At least they are trying to curb the harassment at the airport. There are new signs with numbers to call if you are asked for cash.

So, if you feel they are trying to rip you up, dont hesitate to write/email them, and tell them exactly what you will do to have the situation redressed, such as involving Central Bank, also taking legal action, and claiming compensation. If you live a non flamboyant lifestyle, security is not an issue in Nig regardless of what you see on social media. Flight is safer for interstate travels. You can have police escort for less than $30/day but after a while you'd realize it's not necessary. That's my experience & I visit Nig 3 times/yr & enjoy it 😊

I think this is fine if you have savings for a year, live within your budget and then find a way to allocate some of those savings to something that can make your money grow. Set a goal and have a back up plan if it doesnt work out.

I listened to your 10 points and I found that the idea of trust Bayo spoke about is already violated relative to the green paradise community he is advertising. Using stock pictures of maybe American residential developments is a bit of a fool's errand. Show us what the land looks like, so as problem solvers, we can solve your problem, buy and sell the green paradise, for you are not solving any problem of housing and residential development by using Western Stock image to sell living in Lagos, Nigeria, especially with the 10 problems that exist. That is like Yoruba nation claiming they will build London if their revolution succeeded. Apart from that, Bayo was quite informative. Nigeria has 36 states including Abuja.
