Pierre, I think you missed something... it is very normal for the Elite Rich to judge the value of things solely on the price they paid for it. It is ostentatious pride. I think you have stumbled across a key characteristic for determining what social class these leaders come from. For example, if poor/welfare class person rates a restaurant, they would say "Did I get enough to eat?" A middle class person would rate by "How good was the taste and quality of the food?" But, a rich social elite would rate by "How was the appearance of the food and the dining experience? How exclusive was the access to this restaurant. How does this show that I am special?" The social elites are extremely concerned about where they rank among others and usually choose some metric that, on its surface, they think will impress others the most.
