@@ashgavs Has the show ever broached the subject of the upcoming "Rainbow Revolution" in China? Now that the lockdowns are over, the LGBTQ community is refusing to stay underground and are meeting severe backlash from the CCP; above and beyond the normal oppression and tyranny. During the Chinese New Year, there are marches planned for every major city. Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Henen, Beijing, etc. CCP members are even getting outed and doxxed on China's social media platforms, like Weibo. Things are getting WILD!

As noted elsewhere, ( ^ Jenny G), Jessica and her wife, Claude, might be more private. - Not to assume Stevie and her wife, Josie, are not, or to say that this show here would pressure someone beyond their limit. I like comics' podcasts and of them, I'd say you are quite good at assessing when a guest wants to contribute or interject. Even though you interrupt, you acknowledge when someone wants to add something and you come back to that. At least to me, I can see that you try to make everyone feel seen and heard.

I have not gotten past the intro, but I wanted to take a moment to tell you that your are doing great with this podcast. I recently watched another gay comedy podcast because I wanted to see a specific guest and I was very uncomfortable because I'm used to your high standards. They were interrupting after every sentence to make jokes that sometimes just felt awful (like interrupting a story about someone sleeping with an adult as a child to steal their ID to become a stripper with "Yas queen, work" to the person that happened to's face). Granted, I am very sensitive around these things and if I had known the hosts better it might have felt more comfortable, but I just wanted to tell you that this podcast is definitely safe for me and feels good to listen to and that's really hard to achieve.

I'm someone who's super uncomfortable interrupting people and it often makes me feel uncomfortable (just cause i moved to a country - as a really shy kid - where the norm was to interrupt/talk over people a lot more than I was used to, which meant I ended up never ever finishing a sentence, then got blamed for not talking enough), but not in this podcast! I've noticed since I started listening that whenever there's a point that was going to be made, you always make sure to circle back to it, and everyone gets to say their piece in the end, and it all seems very balanced that way!

okay this was a fucking great episode i was cackling the whole time, i LOVE sheria, i hope to see her back soon! ALSO re: the whole thing abt our brains being rigged against us IT MAKES ME SO ANGRY. it's true with EVERYTHING. and then in addition my disabilities do that, too. i am stuck in a spiraling hamster wheel of impossible/inaccessible solutions and treatments. lol it's basically like oh i should do A to help w this mental illness thing and disability thing oh but uh. doing A actually worsens this other disability thing, which worsens this other mental illness thing. well at least i can do B, right? to help w those things? maybe balance it? nope, B actually worsens these other mental illnesses and disabilities...fuck. goddamnit. okay but what about--nope. C's off the table, too. FUCK. so i'm basically playing whack-a-mole. like i recently got up to sit at my desk more and do some more work and creative stuff which helps my mental health and gives me more energy. but it wrecks my back and neck bc of EDS, no matter what i do. which means i'm in constant pain. to solve that pain, i have to accommodate in other ways--which usually means triggering other disorders and transferring that EDS pain somewhere else in the body. lol it literally went: neck/shoulder, back, tailbone, hips, feet and ankles, hands and fingers, and now we're back to my back and neck/shoulder. lol and it immobilizes me and prevents me from doing things that help. and when i have energy to exercise, the ways i can exercise are REALLY limited bc of some issues i have, but i always end up triggering my EDS. i can't even do PT bc it triggered some NEW issues w an autoimmune thing. lol it's REALLY annoying and frustrating, as i'm sure you know w your ongoing hip pain. fucking sucks, bro. and like as a stupid smaller example: anxiety upsets my stomach. which triggers digestive issues i have. which makes me feel sick. which makes me anxious bc i have phobias around that stuff. which makes me feel more sick. which makes me feel more anxious. and on and on and on. lol

Also as an autistic person I would like to say that the things that work for neurotypicals dont work the same for us so don't feel the pressure to take advice for neurotypicals abt mental health and don't feel bad when it doesn't work for you; its not meant to work for us. We work almost completely opposite to them, our bodies produce melatonin in the day for example. Don't force yourself to go out and talk to people, feel free to limit your socializing, pets are great and mainly online friendships can be enough, you need to know what works for you and separate it from trying to fit into neurotypical view of normalised socializing. Drugs dont usually work for us the same way either so yeah they can be a negative experience or take a lot of trying to find something that works. Nature does work so a walk is good if you have nature but in a city it might not be good for you, its best to time it to the early morning when its more quiet if you can. Exercise can be difficult for sensitivities and thats okay. Slow gentle exercise like stretching and yoga, maybe swimming if you can handle it sensory wise. Dancing is great. Daily dance breaks are so good for you. And your same-foods are ok! The most important thing is that youre eating ❤

Talk therapy (CBT) also is not always great for autistics who are already too in their heads analyzing and overtly self-aware and many autistics feel ABA is torture/basically conversion therapy and common consensus is that DBT is ABA for adults so those therapies can be harmful with ideas to "fix" austistic people and induce more masking which is unhealthy for us in the long run, but some individuals find DBT useful so idk. I'd think its best to try different art therapies that can bring out of the head mode into the body and enjoyment of free expression and offer some relief and joy amidst stress similar to stimming and special interests.
