I drive a 1997 F-350 XLT Crew Cab 4x4 and I keep a few white bottles of the Powerservice Fuel treatment and anti gel in my truck during the winter and add 8 oz to each fill up. I also keep a red bottle of Power Service Diesel 911 incase of severe fuel gelling. I live in the northern tip of Maine where temps can go from 90+ degrees Fahrenheit in the summer time to -60F degrees in the middle of winter. Another rule of thumb to be easy on your diesel fuel filters, do not exceed a 1/4 of a tank of fuel so as not to get lots of junk from the bottom of the tank clogging filters.

When I was in Highschool 74-75 time frame ! I was running a older Case tractor discing , I went to lunch came back and forgot to put fuel in it like I was supposed to! I worked for an hour or so an it started to bawg down so I dropped a gear down and took off again ! Did it again and died , I tried to start it and it fired and pumped oil out of the air cleaner 😮 I thought I had blowen it up !!! So I walk back to my boss's house to tell him, first thing he ask is did I put fuel in it after lunch 😞 he was mad , it took us at least 5 hours to unhook, pull it in and bleed all the lines , I NEVER LET ANYTHING DIESEL GET LOW OF FUEL EVER AGAIN !!!

I have a Kubota and my only problems have been fuel related. Continued to get an air bubble. An electric fuel pump primes the system without a need to stop and start the tractor. Kubota has a return on the fuel so it really has no priming issue. Strange to me that stop/start would fry the computer/ECU

Thank you for sharing! Some diesels are easier than others to restart/bleed lines after the fuel runs out. Frying the computer would have never crossed my mind. That looks like an awesome machine. I took 1 gallon and 1 quart empty gasoline cans. Spray painted them yellow, put a diesel label on them and keep them with the machine. They are small and just enough to stop problems or limp home. Also much easier to carry than a 5 gallon jug. Use it each time you fuel equipment and replace it then.

Here’s something to think about I saw on a Tele handler. As watching a review on a Tele handler and what they did was they ran little tubes to all the grease fittings and he walked up to the back and open the panel and there were about 20 Zirk fittings, and that’s where you greased everything. So I’m sure you could replace that Zürich fitting with a 90 and run a tube out with another dessert fitting on the end and just fill that tube with grease and you could easily grease that part from the side of the engine. It would be a pain to get it in there the first time but once you did that it have easy access degrees that area for the rest of the machines life. If you know somebody advance track or you might want to suggest it to them, I thought that was a spectacular idea that should be done on all machines, having a simple panel where you could just go and grease all of your fittings from one location without any obstructions would be awesome but for something like that or you can’t reach it otherwise, I think that would be a pretty great option.

My Kubota gasser 4500Z has the same block and lay-out as does your Y model. I have managed, to grease the front universal fitting from the RIGHT as Ventrac instructs, but it was a frustrating task eventhough the oil filter was off to allow better visual access. The front and rear grease zerks are in same plane, so start at rear with the zerk straight up, this is easy peasy routine grease access. Then turn the engine to where the zerks are (if you are viewing a clock from front of tractor) at 5:00 or not quite straight down. Now you will be working blindly, so use your hand to reacch in and down to the U joint and find the zerk with your finger and wipe it clean. Use a long grease hose as Ventrac instructs and NOT one of those large clip on fittings, smaller is better here. Thread the hose well down and then back up to where you felt the zerk. You hands and the hose fitting need to be clean and dry of grease, but you can push the coupler onto the zerk with two fingers and apply the grease. Took longer to keyboard this than to do the task.

I ran a diesel JD 750 out of fuel years ago. Bled the system, which is almost impossible due to the close proximity of another engine part to the nut that has to be loosened. Better to just bite the bullet and get it over with than to run the starter over and over. Surprised you didn't just burn up the starter instead of an expensive computer. Constructive criticism: Sometimes you repeat yourself over and over and over and over and over and over which is annoying. Is that to lengthen the 3 minutes of actual information to over 10 minutes for some reason? Nevertheless, I enjoy watching most of your content.

You cannot depend on others to take care of your equipment like you will. It takes a lot less time to do it yourself than to deal with the repercussions of taking it somewhere else.

As a ventrac owner I feel you are a bit misleading. With the price of the machine. Mowing fence is ok if it’s flat ground. Off camber it’s nothing but a pain. Have to keep a good distance from the fence due to articulation. And one better have really deep pockets to own one. I have broke lots on mine. From spindles, belts, bolts and had to replace both bearings in the front axels that turned into complete axel replacements. I’ll admit I’m hard on all equipment and my 4500P goes well but can’t hold up to my work very well. It really shines in briar patches and small autumn olive trees tho. Basically I feel it was made for reclaiming over grown pasture fields. Or mowing flat lawns. I do not recommend buying a ventrac to anyone due to high cost of maintenance on an already crazy priced machine. Around here in my area of North Central WV they are priced at 35k and up with attachments. Also the bucket is only for loose piles of sand, rock, wood chips ect. Not digging holes or into anything hard packed really.
