General tips to follow for wet seasons - 1. Make sure your tyre has good thread. No matter how grippy your tyre is during dry conditions, the thread in your tyres determine how much water wading the tyre can do under wet conditions. If your thread has worn out and if it’s wet season, get a new tyre, don’t risk it. 2) During cold/wet conditions, reduce tyre pressure by 5-10% of your regular index, to increase contact patch and thereby increasing the grip the tyre can offer. Higher pressure makes it easy for hydroplaning to take place. 3) Always have two hands on the steering wheel (dry/wet - both conditions), but if it’s wet, not options - both hands must be on the steering wheel. If you accidentally run through a puddle, minimise steering inputs and hold the steering wheel firmly to keep the car on the intended path. When hydroplaning occurs, the tyres are lifted from the ground, and if we are holding the wheel loosely or only with one hand, the front wheels will turn a few degrees, and this new steering angle will set the car in different direction when the tyres eventually comes down after hydroplaning has stopped. I use Micheline Primacy 4ST, and I have found it to be extremely good in wet. But no matter how good the tyre is, don’t go above 60kmph on stagnant water.

Very good explanation. Everyone should avoid doing this, especially on Highway. Happened to me many times on the Bangalore highway. A big vehicle splash totally blocked my visibility for a couple of seconds. This is too dangerous for the vehicle plying on the other side lane. I faced this couple of years ago which was a major accident happened in front of Nanguneri court in the highway. There was a water logging in the hibgway. My car was ford ikon. My car got spin and rolled few times and landed in the service lane. Luckily I had a small injury and all the co passengers are safe. Important note , seat belt saved my life. I've experienced this.... I was on Trichy - Chennai Highway between Villupuram and Ulundurpet I was a beginner I love the aqua planing... I did that with my 2004 Accent and the car was pulled towards the right median... Glad that I was able to pull back and nothing big happened... From then on no splashing in high speeds on highways.... I do water plane now.... But in rural roads that too when it's completely empty..... Will give up that too

u r correct bro. If ur car speed is higher, road grip is very low(because of body weight force not going fully downward. that force transfer to front motion side). so please go slow in raining time.

When overtaking in rain increase the wiper speed so that we get clear windshield when when water splashes from next car . Don't go to one side of the road because water is usually stagnant there and tyre gets pulled easily. Always use heavy cars because they are more planted on road . This is definitely need to be discussed. I seen this my dad was driving around 70 on Chennai Highway and on one of a slight curve water stagnanted a biker stopped the bike on center of highway. With water he wasn't able to stop car and hit the bike. Lukily there were no major injuries on either side.

You're correct anna! 0:37 One week back, I had a experience!! It was raining heavily (just 3 meter of the road is visible around 4pm) and I was driving slow on the left lane (30-35km). Suddenly a car crossed me on the right lane, unexpectedly there were a water on the road (front - right lane). When other car is about to cross our car. Suddenly the water slashed on our car front glass and completely blank for couple of seconds!!! Immediately I applied the break (for slow down a car) and thankfully there were no vehicle behind our car!! I don't blame the other car driver as well. Because I understand the situation (heavy rain and could not see the road properly). His speed may be above 50km. Luckily no accidents like shown in this video. The point is we have to be very careful about our surroundings while driving... Especially during the rain!! And mostly the water stagnant will be on the RIGHT LANE!! 1. Better to avoid right lane during the rain with 40+km speed 2. Be aware water is stagnant is not there Happy & Safe Driving!! 🚘
