Thank you. I normally would get foreign currency before I leave the USA but hearing this, it may be cheaper just to use the ATM when I arrive in Thailand airport.

100% would be cheaper and less time consuming. The ATM fee here is 220 baht for foreign cards. Usually 20,000 baht per withdrawal. Some banks have started doing 25 and 30K I've heard. Only seen one place doing 30K.

Thanks for the advice! Form Americans, when using a card should we use the local rate or U.S. rate?
@Minoritynomad4 ай бұрын
ALWAYS pay in the local currency. Globally. Most will ask you. But just to be safe say, Thai baht please. Or Pesos. Or Yen. Whatever. The exchange rates the banks charge you are significantly higher that what most US banks will charge you.

Where do we get the sims card in the city
@Minoritynomad4 ай бұрын
Pretty much any convenience store. 7/11 or Family Mart. Most malls have the carrier shops. All have prepaid cards. AIS for example as The One card. It's 200baht for 30 days of data. 100gb. Might be a bit more expensive now. But that's what it was a few months ago.

Is Supercheap still located near the airport link?
@Minoritynomad4 ай бұрын
yup. they've expanded heavily. they were the ones I always recommended. Now I don't. an utter waste of time with ATMs. The only time I recommend using them is if you're coming from another country and have local currency or you're leaving Thailand for home.

You probably mean "Superrich". :-) Yes, still located in the basement, near the entrance of the Airport Link...
