Hey Buck! Im from Singapore and I'm someone who reads up alot about special operations and watches alot of Spec ops related content because i find it really cool and interesting! Really enjoy your channel because of how informative it is, such that even civilians like myself get to know more about the spec ops community. It would be awesome if you made a video about your experiences working/cross-training with the SOFs from countries! Was wondering if you've ever experienced working with my country's Commandos or SOF (another unit within the Commandos)? The SAF regularly sends our SF soldiers to take part in the US Ranger Course, Green Beret Q course and BUD/s, so I was also wondering if you've met any Singaporean SF soldiers during training as well!

Excellent video. I served group support (signal corps) for 5th Special Forces at Ft Campbell. So I wore the maroon beret and never got the privilege to don the Green Beret of the 18 series MOS. In your video you mention Integrity being a core value of the Green Berets. Looking back now, I recall that Integrity was the very backbone of all those guys. Hands down, the Green Berets with whom I served were the best moral people I've ever known -- representing a textbook example of integrity, solid morals and honor. This is no joke; it was a common spiritual belief among the guys in 5th Group that, once you die, you could not enter into the kingdom of heaven without your Green Beret. So, of course, it was a ceremonious tradition that fallen 5th Special Forces guys were always buried with their Green Beret in casket. (This was mid-1990s when only men wore the Green Beret.) Have you also heard of this, or was this perhaps something exclusive to 5th Group? Anyway, you have gained a fan and subscriber. I look forward to catching.up on past videos and seeing new ones also. Thank you.

Buck, that was some really great advice. Particularly about getting recycled. I know there is pride of being with "your" class and graduating with your class. I totally get it. But if you get recycled, you can still graduate, it will just be with the next class. And you're right Buck! Nobody will give two shits how long it took you to complete the course, all that matters in the end is you graduate. That's it! I spent almost 6 months getting screamed at in OCS at Benning. It was supposed to last only 3 months. I got recycled twice due to a neck injury, a knee injury, and a knee injury. But my 40 years old ass hung in there and completed all the requirements and got that gold bar. That's all that matters. There is no shame in recycling a phase of a school. The Army always gives you a second chance. That's doctrine. In fact, most guys don't complete Ranger school in one shot. Many recycle one or more phases. The key is to complete the phase so if you get recycled you won't have to start all over again. So just study harder, train harder, search deep within yourself to find out what you failed and why, and then fix it. Simple as that.

This video hit home. I’m still trying to pass SFRE and overall, been in pursuit of special operations in general since around 2014 with no luck. I’m mentally burnt out and starting to think I can’t make it. Started with SOWT (twice), PJ (once) and now guard SF. At what point does someone say enough is enough or do they keep trucking on? Any advice for mental burnout? Can you do a video on burnout seeing as how SF and SOF deploy a lot and I imagine burnout is a real thing. What are some coping mechanisms one can do to reset the mind and drive? Thanks for all of these videos. The parallels are insane-minus me being SF or SOF for that matter

I've never been in the military but I have heard that training like a maniac so that you're well above the physical standard helps. I know you've probably already tried that since you're asking about the mental burnout. For that, here is something by warrior poet society kzbin.info/www/bejne/farVnJyaf6-dmJY . You should also try DMing sean buck rogers on IG since he doesn't have an email on here. Lastly, there is this guy that helps people get into SOF or SF named Jake Zweig. He responds to almost every comment and has a youtube channel and an email address that he also responds to frequently. He is a former navy seal. I really think you will benefit if you haven't already checked him out. You can even get on a zoom call with him and he puts it up on his channel. Here is the link to his channel: kzbin.info . And here is his email: jake.zweig@gmail.com . Really hope this helps and best of luck to you! Trust yourself to be a savage.

I really enjoyed all videos. I grew up in the Army. All I knew was dress greens, straight green or the new BDUs especially when I was growing up in Germany (west Germany). Bad Tolz was a SF training grounds but on occasions I would see them at Tompkins barracks outside of heidelberg. As a young 15 yrs, I walked up to 3 huge GBs, I told them how is it be a SF? The E8 said as your recuiter. I said but I 15... Unfortunately as I had mentioned before I trained with mob with them as 11b for support but I lacked that GT 110. Then or even now no waivers. Guess that's why 11b was the way for. I did go to the learning center 4 xs and went from a 93 to 105. Still short. Still airborne. Listen to him people. Nothing wrong with other mos s but when you see the GB you think elite

Those things sound chicken shit in training but as an ex nco and later officer in SF I can't tell you how important being able to hang in there thru sickness, wounds and mental trauma is. We had times when two or three of us at any time were incapacitated with malaria, dengue fever or just the shits!! With 3 guys down that's 25% of a team. Believe me shit happens so everyone needs to depend on everyone hanging tough. That is what training is for--to weed out those who will quit!!

We had a guy on one of our teams that forgot to put his safety on out on the range here in Utah and accidently popped off a round opposite of down range and right into one of our trucks about a couple feet from where a couple guys were standing at the time. I was there in the tower when it happened. Next thing I know the range was dead silent and all of our guys with the holy shit look on their faces. I just watched down from the tower as they surrounded the guy, stripped him down took all his weapons and drove him away back to the office. I learned days later that he was banned from the range for as long as I can remember and was taken off the team and put into support company indefinitely, for good. He was a great guy, knew his shit and was a solid dude. I felt absolutely awful for him. He made one major major accidental fuck up and it cost him his whole job in the group. I ate lunch with him a couple weeks later and wanted to talk to him/ask him about it so bad but couldn't bring myself to do it. I could 100% see the pain and frustration still written all over his face. After it was all said and done the one thing that made me feel better for the guy was that our guys/leadership never gave him shit about it again. They took the action they needed to when it happened, the fixed the issue even though it wasn't pleasant for anyone (especially him) and they moved on and kept treating him like a brother with nothing but respect.

Do any non integrity and safety failures get a second chance? Aside, The new OSUT training pipeline is 22 weeks with more land nav training, combat water survival, and basic combat medic training along with persevering through longer training which is a plus for all 18x candidates before heading off to the prep course and selection.

Recycling - this is probably the biggest misconception for people waffling on whether to try out or not. Every SOF course, Ranger School, Marine Recon, SWCC, EOD... there is a recycling process once you have passed the selection phase. It’s hard. It’s supposed to be hard. But you’re there to be trained by cadre who want you to pass, but will not just give it to you.

Once you’re there, you’re fully aware. But it’s a bigger travesty if you know about and then still quit despite the ability to be recycled. For the folks who think they aren’t ready, they may be more ready than they know. So they might as well go for it because everyday in SOF is a better day than most every other place.

Some of the courses you only have one other chance to retest. If you fail the retest, you're sent home packing. Sure if you are not a moron, they will invite you to apply for it again and start all over. I'm surprised ppl don't take the opportunity to recycle. At least you pick up a new class where you left off roughly.

I've gone through my initial process with my recruiter, gotten the information packed turned in, will be going soon for fingerprinting and to pick a Meps date - 18x enlistment, I plan to use these extra days to study more for the ASVAB and train. This is a bit of a dumb question, and I know the direct answer is keep doing them - and I will, but do you have any advice for increasing my push up and pull up count? Maybe other exercises I should also be doing to build core and arm strength? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you sir!

if you’re trying to go special forces you need to be working on running just as hard as getting stronger 5 miles in under 40 minutes is no joke and if youre not a strong runner already its damn near impossible. you’ll get strong enough to do the exercises but the running is what makes or breaks it.

Got a quick question. If one decides to go 18X, is there a set time that they go to selection? Are they allowed to wait some time after basic and AIT is finished before going to selection, or is there a specific point after AIT where they have to go immediately?
